Lorne Gunter: Notley's budget includes tripling Alberta's debt

Ezra LevantRebel Commander

On Friday's show, Edmonton Sun Senior Columnist Lorne Gunter joined me to discuss the Alberta NDP budget.

The budget shows that the NDP have no problem with making up numbers, like claiming they will only raise spending in the coming year by $200M. Even though they've raised spending by $8B in three years, about 5.2% per year.

The NDP seems to believe the only way they can win re-election in 2019 is by proving they're tough on pipelines and finances. But their own budget proves that isn't true.

Alberta isn't forecasted to run a balanced budget until 2023, by which time the NDP will have increased the debt to $96 billion. More than triple what they inherited!

The Alberta NDP are basically the very same party as the Ontario Liberals. It looks like Notley is trying to out do her best lunch girlfriend Wynne. After those two, who the hell wants anymore female premiers for a while. What a disaster they have both been. Its embarrassing….

There is hope, with Kenney and Ford coming up for those two trashed provinces.

To give a sense of scale, a billion dollars is a stack $100 bills a little over 1 kilometre high. So Alberta’s debt is a stack of 100 bills 100 kilometres tall give or take a few meters. But hey, its only $100 bills. No worries.

Quite paltry compared to Ontario’s 320 kilometre high stack.

Or Canada’s 650 kilometre high stack.

Here is Manitoba we have a dumpy little 25 kilometre stack.

But then again all Canadians will own part of two of these stacks.

But no worries. We just have to wait for these budgets to take care of themselves.

Sleep well.

And the weird thing is that all of this could have been – and was- predicted. Every jurisdiction where the NDP have ever been in power they have run that province into the ground. But idiot Canadian voters never learn and think it will be different next time. Can’t wait until they do it federally.

The public can’t do this but politician think it’s ok . IT IS NOT .
