On last night's show, Sun columnist Lorne Gunter joined me to discuss the similarities between Alberta politics under Notley's NDP and Ontario politics during the reign of Bob Rae's NDP in the early 1990's.
The Canadian economy was in a state of recession during the early '90's, similar to Alberta's current NDP recession, the Rae government responded by blowing up the provincial debt and forcing unionized public employees to take unpaid days off.
Working Ontarian's quickly regretted voting for Rae, after burning his bridges with the unions Rae had alienated the only voting bloc in the provinces that didn't oppose him. In the next election, Ontario voted for conservative Mike Harris, who implemented deep cuts, fired bureaucrats, and saved the provincial economy.
WATCH my interview with Lorne to see why he think's Albertans are about to vote in a similar way and elect Kenney's UCP to save Alberta.
