Lorne Gunter: Notley to implement her own version of Ontario NDP "Rae Days"

Ezra LevantRebel Commander

On last night's show, Sun columnist Lorne Gunter joined me to discuss the similarities between Alberta politics under Notley's NDP and Ontario politics during the reign of Bob Rae's NDP in the early 1990's.

The Canadian economy was in a state of recession during the early '90's, similar to Alberta's current NDP recession, the Rae government responded by blowing up the provincial debt and forcing unionized public employees to take unpaid days off.

Working Ontarian's quickly regretted voting for Rae, after burning his bridges with the unions Rae had alienated the only voting bloc in the provinces that didn't oppose him. In the next election, Ontario voted for conservative Mike Harris, who implemented deep cuts, fired bureaucrats, and saved the provincial economy.

WATCH my interview with Lorne to see why he think's Albertans are about to vote in a similar way and elect Kenney's UCP to save Alberta.

Gunter is a little off in his reasoning concerning the NDP aberration in that province – Boob Ray was totally surprised he won when he woke up the day after the ballot count because the voters were not voting for the NDP just not for the PCs (who ran the province admirably for the previous decades) they wanted to send them a message to smarten up and stop acting like spend and tax liberals so they stayed home from the polls in droves, Ray won by default and almost from the beginning there was voter remorse for being so stupid in thinking not voting would give them the change they wanted – they got a change but it was far worse than the government they wanted to teach a lesson. The next attempt to teach the PCs a lesson resulted in Peterson’a anti-business regime which Big Mike corrected with the largest landslide victory in that province’s history,

Alberta has not only an inept bad government with all the wrong kind of patronage clients but it is ideologically opposed to the majority of Albertans – the next election will sweep the house clean of Dip…..and they know it, that’s why they are in fire mode handing out patronage like drunken sailors before the end comes.

Is it possible that the public sector union rats might abandon the NDP and try to hide behind some phoney moderate Liberal candidates? Thats what happened in Ontario . At any rate, the NDP need to be decimated and hopefully most wont get enough votes to get their deposits returned.

… Albertans overwhelmingly reject Notley and the NDP government. They are, and have always been, an unwanted government- both their social and economic agenda.
