“Call me when they insult Mohammed during Ramadan” -- Maclean’s Easter cover asks “Did Jesus Really Exist?”

Ezra LevantRebel Commander

Maclean’s just mailed its special Easter edition of the magazine. The cover story is: “Did Jesus Really Exist? The science is in: New memory research is casting doubt on the few things we thought we new about Jesus. Now a growing number of experts think he didn’t exist at all.”

Wow. Sooo edgy. Insulting Christians, on Easter. Call me when Maclean’s insults Mohammed, in the middle of Ramadan.

About ten years ago, Maclean’s magazine actually did do something that hurt the feelings of Muslims — and they fought the human rights complaints and crushed them.

That Maclean’s is over now; they’re not courageous enough to take on Muslim issues.

Just Christians, who they know won’t ever take them to human rights commissions.

Then there was Maclean’s Remembrance Day edition, putting convicted terrorist, murderer and war criminal Omar Khadr on the cover.

I’m really excited to see what they have in store for their Jewish New Years issue...

How they have it now is fine by me, I can still get the gist of the news but not all. But if it is total, meaning all articles locked down, then there would zero reason for us poor folk to come to this site. I wouldn’t be able to get any news so what would be the point, it would be an exercise in futility, time better spent would be surfing the net to get the news then.

@ Hyacinth

So you are against even having part of TheRebel locked down, and even a small part at that?

Liza, Charles, Peter:
I can tell you Sean aka Ronnie et al will be one of the happiest people in Canada should the site become just for paying members only because he will have won, his aim is to get the site locked down for blogging (i.e.: same as Toronto Sun no longer allowing blogging). If it becomes pay only then I’ll be one of the folks saying, “been a slice goodbye”. I cannot afford the extra for a membership, there are no doubt many that are in the same boat as I. Ezra will have tossed some good people to the curb with a paywall on all articles.

I do think it would hold its own, but can see that admin may feel it would tick off an equal amount of people it pleases. Then again I think a lot of people are ticked off already, not getting everything for free. They had it too good for a year.
I understand the transition had to be made and welcomed it both for the revenue for the Rebel and for not having trolls in premium content sections. It was assumed, wrongly it turns out that it was one of the perks for subscribing, that there would be one troll free area. However, maybe its not the time to eliminate non payers from the comment section of the premium content. We can only hope it may happen later when numbers settle?

Having a forum would do great for this site. But like you said keep it behind a paid wall, now if the crazies come into the paid wall, we can have after them in real time and we can control their attacks.

Liza said, "However, trolls do take people around the maypole and down rabbit holes, and all that does means more activity. "

Yes, they do. I do wish they could carry on a proper debate as I like to debate left wing/socialists beliefs/policies up against right wing/conservative beliefs and policies. But after maybe one round, they start the insults, derogatory comments and swearing.

I have sent emails and posted comments that hopefully TheRebel reads regarding making the comments section on the pay wall section just for members, but they ignore them. I have seen others post comments to this regard and are also ignored.

I have often wished for an area, like a forum, where the paid members can carry out debates on topics.

Liza, do you think it would become popular enough among the subscribers to become a lively debate area?
commented 2016-03-27 13:17:24 -0400
Speaking of staying on topic, The thing to remember about all this Christian bashing by the left (Mcleans in this case) is that it is all designed to weaken the fabric of our society. Just another step in taking down the country so it can be rebuilt in some kind of global order image that we are certain to be horrified with. Once the country is severely weakened, It will be an easy accomplishment for Justin and his band of thugs. We are not going to like it, and Mcleans is just another paid tool of the liberal government.

“Liza, maybe I exaggerated when I said no conversation occurs if the trolls are not here, but it is significantly reduced.”
That’s just the thing Peter, we don’t know that, as it has never been tested.

“The comments section for those pay wall shows is not restricted to just paying subscribers. I wish it were so because I would like to see how much discussion would occur. "
It would have been the litmus test. However, trolls do take people around the maypole and down rabbit holes, and all that does means more activity. Its just not quality activity, and I think a lot of people are turned off by it, as Mara M. is, and scroll past trying to pick up where the real conversation left off. I think there is good discussion when there is good information a good topic, and different points of view put forward. Sometimes I find it easier to ignore than other times. I try not to bite, but sometimes I don’t succeed.

Liza, maybe I exaggerated when I said no conversation occurs if the trolls are not here, but it is significantly reduced.

I like conversation and debate.

The comments section for those pay wall shows is not restricted to just paying subscribers. I wish it were so because I would like to see how much discussion would occur.

I suggested to TheRebel a forum where among other things conservative topics can be discussed. Maybe it was good that they ignored my suggestion because if there is not much discussion then it would have been a failure.

I wouldn’t go that far Peter, and its not really giving enough credit to people. What you’ve said only encourages flaming trolls. This is why I was looking forward to the pay wall eliminating those who don’t subscribe from commenting on the premium shows. It would have been proof that intelligent conversation can go back and forth even more freely, and stay on topic without constant disruption from trolls. If conversation stops and no one feels like commenting further its probably the natural end to the conversation. I fail to see how encouraging trolls adds anything of value.
Having said that, its a free country. I have been guilty of the odd comment about something extra troll like, but try to minimize it.

Mara M, I understand what you mean by not responding to people like Ron, but it is only with people like Ron Christensen that any discussion or dialog between people happens.

I respond to him because when I respond to others that are conservatives on this site, the conversation stops, probably because we all agree with one another and there is nothing further to say.

If you chose to ignore the back and forth discussions with people like Ron then that is your choice, of course, but it is because of people like Ron that there is much of any discussion at all.

You know what would be great? If we could all just refuse to get in a pissing match with the ilk of Ron C Ignore every post he makes no matter how infuriating and moronic he is. Do not engage! When I see his and other likes of his crazy on a comment, I have to move on. The comments I do read are commenting on his comment, so I skip over too. Just hate to see intelligent and worthy commenters giving him relevance when he is so not relevant. Ronnie is preaching to convert but knows he is hard-pressed here to force upon us his tiny worldview yet sucks us in every time. We would be ecstatic if he would just drop off the radar screen on his own accord but like the child seeking attention, we indulge him even if its with negative attention.

Ron C there is a prayer rug in the break room where i work , and numerous Muslims work at the store, i do not hate them you moron.
commented 2016-03-26 13:25:10 -0400
Ron , we’re going to push you delusional lefty apologists to the front, you’ll be the first to go or grovel on your knees. What’s pathetic is your infantile belief that no threat to our existence exists.

Mcleans mag/rag, Canada’s answer to People mag/rag in the States.

Deliberately disrespectful, and keeping in mind the pro Islam climate in Canada these days I would add , a deliberate attack on Christianity. Good job Mcleans, helping to take Canada down. Not exactly patriots. Too bad you’re too stupid to be proud of your country and its cultural roots. Shame.

I opened this article and what do I see? Little Ronnie taking a tantrum yet again. Simply too funny!! Such an angry stout advocate of National Socialism. Thank you Alice for the chuckle of the day.

Hey Ron, I dare you to go into a mosque and tell talk about their invisible friend in the sky. Just another fool internet tough guy you are…and plenty stupid.
commented 2016-03-26 12:18:40 -0400
We’re all wasting our time trying to have a rational conversation with Ron Christensen. If you present any valid argument he just skips off somewhere else leaving it unaddressed and replaced by a new volley of empty accusations. It’s hard to have any meaningful dialogue when someone keeps skipping off.
commented 2016-03-26 11:54:48 -0400
Wow. Ron came up with two Christian terrorists. From how many years ago? We’re their crimes faith based or politically based? Ron you are a typical leftist fucking idiot. How many muslim terrorists can be named? Huh? More in the last week than Christian ones in the last 20years you fuckin indoctrinated brain dead moron. I’m so sick of you p.c. creeps spouting your bullshit. Why don’t you just retire to your safe space and leave the comments to people with a brain in their head. Fucking useless tit.
commented 2016-03-26 10:40:07 -0400
Ron said the Hyacinth, “I suppose you are just as certain of that as you are about your invisible friend in the sky?”

Once again you demonstrate how very little you know about Christianity. Most of the people in the world that hate Christianity have a very distorted view of what Christianity really is. You are no exception to that constant.

It is from the Greek mythological concept of their deities that the misconception of the asomatous nature God of Christianity is borne.
commented 2016-03-26 10:29:31 -0400
Ron asked, "I’ll bet you couldn’t stand the fat that the Pope washed the feet of a Muslim. "

Not at all. This proves how little you know of Christianity.

That is one of the defining characteristics of Christianity is to humble oneself even before one’s enemies and one of the methods for doing that is to wash the feet of your enemy.

You truly do not understand much, Ron. You continually again and again hurl insults at me and make assumptions about me and other Christians that are completely wrong. Will you learn?? I doubt it.

Ron also said, "You Muslim haters in here are mentally ill. Sick people. Dripping with fear and hate. "

Once again you are wrong. Most people here do not hate Muslims, they hate Islamic terrorists. Please tell me Ron that you are capable of grasping the difference.

But people like you take our anger for Islamic terrorists and equate that with hating all Muslims. You are lying when you do that. Why are you lying, Ron Christensen? Why?

The language and attitude on Ron Christensen, Ron Christenson, Sean Penson, Michael Mann, Jimmy Da Silva and a few others are so much the same that they are likely the same person.

Add Tremblay and Nathan.

I suppose you are just as certain of that as you are about your invisible friend in the sky?

It seems that once on the taxpayers payroll, a news media’s stories whitewash all government activity, and begin to mock and attack our rights and freedoms. They like to continually push the envelop on normal, to further their agenda of a lawless, moraless society, where anything goes. This isn’t a society that I want to live in, but that’s what is coming with the liberal government.

I used to subscribe to Maclean’s but did not renew.
The magazine used to be more balanced but has become more of a shrill for the progressives.
commented 2016-03-26 02:53:09 -0400
Ron C you are too much of a child to discuss the point of the story, please let us know when Mcleans ever does as the story asks LMAO! Now go bend over for fanatics like a good coward. I will not be subjugated because you get upset at the truth.

Ron C aww is the poor little bigot all upset , your Christophobia is sickening.

Nice one Penson,
Clean, concise and no typos.
Too bad it only gets you from half wit to imbecile.
Look at the stats trixie, the plurality of Canada is Christian, to the tune of two to one.
Why don’t you try ignoring them, maybe they’ll dissipate.
commented 2016-03-25 22:51:24 -0400
@canadian Mongrel…..ever notice at many of Martin Luther Kings speaches that Nathan Abernathy was in the background saying AMEN BROTHER….it is a tradition in Southern Baptist congregations……“For the witness of two is truth”

Except of course when the witness is an imaginary friend and an alter ego.

Sure must be tough ole Brainless Ron that you have to reach back 25 years . . . lol
Actually they were Radical Anarchists . . . kind of in the mould of OWS and black lies matter !
It was said they had at least two middle eastern men helping them . . . at least one book was written on the subject . . . but the Klinton inJustice Dept dropped the ball big time . . .
Your fellow travellers I suspect.

I thought Mcleans had gone out of business . . . haven’t seen a copy in months . . . lol
