(FLASHBACK) Maclean's "grotesque" Omar Khadr cover is "propaganda"

Ezra LevantRebel Commander

(Originally published November 4, 2015) Have you seen the cover of the new Maclean’s magazine? That’s Rinelle Harper sitting down — she’s the Aboriginal woman who was attacked and left for dead in Winnipeg.

She became a symbol for racist violence against Aboriginal women — though her alleged attacker was himself Aboriginal.

That girl on the right is Amanda Lindhout. She was a waitress who decided she wanted to be a war reporter in Afghanistan, Iraq and Somalia; she was kidnapped by Muslim terrorists and tortured and raped repeatedly.

So you’ve got two innocent women who were brutalized by violence and would never hurt a fly.

And then you’ve got Omar Khadr standing behind them, with a huge grin on his face.

Omar Khadr is a confessed, convicted Al Qaida terrorist. He plead guilty to five charges of war crimes. He murdered Sgt. Christopher Speer, leaving Tabitha Speer a widow, and their two children, Taryn and Tanner, fatherless.

Omar Khadr has never renounced Al Qaida or said that he regrets what he did.

Here’s how Maclean’s describes him, though:

"Omar Khadr was imprisoned in Guantanamo, captured in 2002 by American forces in Afghanistan and charged with war crimes.”

So, no mention of the murder he confessed to or his conviction for war crimes.

Would Maclean’s magazine put a smiling, chatty Paul Bernardo on their cover, and say, "he’s suffered so deeply in prison — all because he was charged with crimes."

Both are pathological murderers. Why the celebrity treatment?

This isn’t journalism.

This is propaganda.

READ The Enemy Within: Terror, Lies, and the Whitewashing of Omar Khadr, Ezra Levant’s new book about domestic terrorism and radicalization.

Terrorist Omar Khadr’s relaxed bail conditions are a threat to public safety.

You serving doesn’t make your view any more valuable than those that haven’t in a country that doesn’t really require much military in the first place.
commented 2015-11-04 14:29:49 -0500

I have no love for him – I just think based on his circumstances, he does deserve a second chance at freedom and most Canadians agree with that, which is why he is able to do a cover of Macleans in the first place.

That is the reality.

Peter I agree, Bravo brings reality to this topic and many others. Idiots like Rudden are gutless lefties who can’t keep their mouths shut. That is why this country is such a mess.

Canada lost it’s moral compass years ago, Ezra. If you’re trying to make sense out of why Khadr is hailed as a hero here, the only answer now is " because it’s 2015". (lost nation, once so great!)
commented 2015-11-04 14:19:31 -0500
Rudden, Ezra didn’t compare them at all. He was saying that rag don’t care who they put up as front page heros. Heinous acts on both fronts.
Your Ezra Hate is showing again!

Bravo, I appreciate your down to earth common sense that is derived for first had experience.

Which one of you Khadr apologists has the maturity to explain your reasoning for justifying his actions? Please, do show some honesty and maturity and explain you love for Khadr.

@ Jack Carter – those of us who have served on the two way rifle range do not believe he gets a second chance.

However we have seen what pieces of bodies look like when the 12 year old throws the grenade – or the 15, 20 or 70 year old – it can literally ruin your day.

Any male islamic who has reached puberty is considered a man in their culture which is why there are many “UN defined” child soldiers. Bet you did not knows that amnd I bet you make excuses for that should you respond.

Even in Canada today they are considered men in their culture which overrides Canadian law in their culture.

Funny how we are required to accept their culture in some ways – and yet we are expected to over look them in others. We cannot pick and choose – yet the left always does.

When the “UN defined” child soldier pulls the trigger it is as effective as if he was of legal age in Canada.

And you can be certain they know and understand what they are doing. More than one piece of body armour has had to be replaced because of someone under 18 on that two way rifle range. Unfortunatelty body armour is not completely 100% – often we needed to replace the person wearing it as well.

Again this will open me to calls of bigotry.

I figure it is simply reality.

Something not many Canadians are aware of.

Dave Ressor a 15 year old terrorist isn’t the same as a normal Canadian kid. He went to Afghanistan of his own volition. His family were all terrorists living on our dollar. He should have been shot dead on the spot! 12 year olds are fighters in the ME. Taught to kill and hate
commented 2015-11-04 14:11:21 -0500
I really get sick and tired of people saying that because Khadr was 15 that somehow that exonerates his conduct, as if somehow he was too young to understand that throwing a grenade at someone was going to kill that person, or by making IDEs that they were not going to kill people, or that he was too young to understand what death is.

You Khadr apologists really are sick and immoral people. Go grow some morals and ethics.

Wow, hard to believe a murderer has so many sympathizers. He was old enough to travel over to the middle east, arm himself, and murder a ally. Why are you bleeding your heart for someone who went to fight with our enemy? He could have easily killed a Canadian soldier. The sympathy is either from misplaced anti-American bigotry (that’s right, it is just as much bigotry as it is to dislike Muslims), or a real softness for someone just because they were “young” when they committed murder. This POS attacked and murdered a US medic. He was not a combatant. He was a terrorist, going over to kill, that’s right kill, the soldiers of our ally. How would you have felt about a young Canadian having gone over to fight with the Nazis and killing a British soldier? In any case, even if you think it is hyperbole to make the comparison, how do you feel about him being showcased like some hero on Macleans?

“To compare what a 15-year-old kid did in a combat situation – under the influence of his terrorist father – to the horrific, perverted slaughter carried out by Paul Bernardo – on his own volition – as an adult– is an insult to your supporters intelligence.”
LOL. Apparently not, given the comments.

Terry said, “So Ezra equates an adult serial killer/torturer/rapist with a fifteen year old in combat.
Well, that certainly sheds a light on Ezra’s moral universe.”

First of all, Terry, he was a couple month shy of 16. But that aside, he is considered by the Muslim people to be adult at 14 and it treated as such by them.

So in your mind it is okay for a 15 year old to commit murder and it is okay because he was 15?

That says a lot about your moral universe.

Rudden Muslims as young as 12-13 are trained to kill. Omar trained in Afghanistan. You and his parent must be proud. Oh his dad us dead as is his one brother. Mom and sister live on welfare here. Another brother was tried for terrorist activities. Gee what a lovely family of killers. Grow up Rudden and face the truth.

Jack Carter said, "Careful Ezra, your bigotry against Muslims is showing again. "

Interesting how telling the truth is called Muslim bigotry. The left / progressives do that all the time, call someone bigoted and or hateful when they state the truth. I guess it is wrong to speak the truth anymore. Oh, and btw Jack, being convicted of a serious crime as was Omar Khadr is not up for a popularity vote. It is completely meaningless how many Canadian want to give Khadr a second chance. He is a convicted murderer. Full stop.

A convicted self confessed terrorist presented as the boy next door.

What a joke.
Anyone working for that rag should resign after that cover page but I quess that no one there has the of inegrity to do so.
Who the hell reads that shit anyway.

Omar Kahdr is a terrorist. No question.

And the media party, the PR arm of the liberal party is promoting islamic terrorism – partners of socialists inside and outside of Canada – Obama likes his terrorists too.

But if you look at alexa.com, in 8 months, The Rebel has more traffic than the 100 year old macleans.ca.

Many thanks to all the lefties that have posted here – good job promoting terrorism and The Rebel thanks you for your clicks.

Gee Rudden your moral values are showing. A Muslim at 15 who’s family is well know for their Jihad views is a normal thing in their world. He was lucky they didn’t kill him. I hope the soldiers learned their lesson. Shoot because you won’t get justice here.
commented 2015-11-04 13:58:49 -0500
I believe The Rebel is making good progress towards becoming a balanced media presence, www.iwuz.me , but I’m disappointed that the Omar Khadr issue hasn’t long since been put to rest.

To compare what a 15-year-old kid did in a combat situation – under the influence of his terrorist father – to the horrific, perverted slaughter carried out by Paul Bernardo – on his own volition – as an adult– is an insult to your supporters intelligence. You need to combine more wisdom with your enthusiasm.

Careful Ezra, your bigotry against Muslims is showing again.

Most Canadians feel that Omar deserves a second chance.

I can see why the Rebel is more popular than Maclean’s.

Now if any lefty states here, that is isn’t a kick to the face of Canadians and Americans that have died by these piecing of human garbage.
Then you need to seek help.
MacLean’s Magazine is a joke and they should have there news / press paperwork pulled.
It is starting to get way out of control.
This country really needs to start pushing back.
