Mansbridge steps down, outrageous salary makes news

Brian LilleyArchive

In the wake of an announcement that Peter Mansbridge will be stepping down as anchor of Canada’s third most watched newscast (in a field of three) people have begun talking about his salary again.

Watch as I walk you through what we’re finding out about what has been one of the CBC’s most highly guarded secrets even though we taxpayers are the ones who pay his salary.

In the real world, you wouldn’t keep paying more for someone whose ratings are continually going down but CBC doesn’t live in the real world.

That outrageous salary is just one more reason to sign and share our petition to SellTheCBC.

Being afoul mouthed degenerate is a sign of a lack of class. Lots of people say lots of things but that doesn’t make it acceptable. I’ve worked in al manner of jobs and I’ve heard it all so, no, I’m not sheltered. You mistakenly think your foul mouth adds power to your argument. It actually shows that you are limited in your vocabulary and ability to construct a sentence.

I love the fact that you jumped all over my Texas comment. It sure is easy to trigger a lefty.

Of course if you don’t like the original Canada then you ,too, are free to leave it for your European paradise. Oh, and I’ve lived there ,too. I’d take Texas any day. My preference would actually be for Montana or Wyoming or Idaho.

@jimmy Sheep;
Jimmy Jimmy, not so skinny….. You are definitely the little choo choo who could, you are the engine that pulls the Penson, Kelly, Christensen, homo express.
Anyone who does not support the lbgtsexwithanimalslpga, or what ever the fuck they call themselves now, is a homophobe.
Anyone who does support sharia/Islamic parasites, is an islamiphobe.
How absolutely leftwing SJW bullshit of you snowflake.
And as far as your comments regarding the Marines,
You wouldn’t make it past my Yellow Footprints fuckstick!
Your not a man!
Your an effeminate millennial fag boy.
Stay the fuck off this site, it’s for grown ups!
By the way, who is the real name behind the multiple personalities here?
Reece, Pension, Christensen, or Kelly?

Foul mouthed? It’s not 1950, which is what I was referring to when calling you an old fuck. By any standard, it was more conservative then compared to 1970 and beyond. Wow – big admission – society worldwide wasn’t advanced yet. Are you really that dumb?

Using the word fuck is quite common. It’s probably used hundreds of millions of times per day worldwide from the intelligent educated and sophisticated to the ignorant and uneducated. Fuck works. It’s puts quite the emphasis on things that you want to say. It sounds like you are incredibly naïve and sheltered.

Does your mother hold you tight to protect you when you read bad words?

People in Texas swear all the time. I have unfortunately been there. Absolute white trash and just the lowest of low people – who have no problem saying the word nigger like people in Canada say the world hello.
commented 2016-09-09 10:05:34 -0400
Jimmy, Jimmy, Jimmy. Such a foul mouthed fellow. Does your Mother know you talk like this?

Anyway. I am a westerner first and a Canadian second. When I was a kid I was proud to be a Canadian. Not any more. It would be like being proud of having had a lobotomy. Too bad the continent had not been divided north to south instead of east to west. I have no truck with eastern turbo-weenies.

I grew up in the 60’s, 70’s and 80’s. I watched the idiot Big Potato introduce his moral sewage and brain-dead policies that have made this country more stupid with every passing day. Yes there has always been Liberalism in Canada. It brought such delights as refusing Jewish refugees from the Holocaust and sterilization of "mental defectives. It also brought us 3.2 million abortions since 1970. Yup. I’d be so proud of being a Liberal I’d puke.

As for living in Texas there would be good and bad both ways. In Texas they’d kick you ass for you because of your foul mouth. I guess you needed a trigger warning that people would disagree with you and that you’d have temper tantrum and a Fukushima meltdown.

Your reference to me being a “really old conservative fuck” is an implicit admission that the country was once more conservative than it is now. Thanks for making my point for me.
commented 2016-09-09 00:06:26 -0400

You must be a REALLY old conservative fuck, because I grew up in the 70’s and 80’s Canada and it was very liberal for the time. In fact, Canada was practically viewed as European compared to America.

The notion that liberalism is some new thing in Canada is laughable. Now Canada may have become more liberal with each decade passing, but it sure as shit was never like Texas.

If your Canada includes Texas, then it’s quite clear that you don’t want to be a Canadian, so you should get the fuck out of Canada and go live among people like you in Texas – ignorant and bigoted redneck hicks.
commented 2016-09-08 23:44:27 -0400
Yup, Jimmy. Canadians are mostly liberal because they have been brain drained by the CBC and other MSM educational systems, etc. Its the marxist way. Texas is definitely more my style. So was the Canada of my youth but liberal half wits under The Big ’Tater have devolved it into its current pathetic limp-wrested state.

“What makes Canada Canada” is actually a liberal fantasy construct of the last 40 years. It sure wasn’t this way when I was growing up. Your vision of Canada doesn’t make it the definitive version. You liberals are always trying to reshape the world into your own image. “My Canada includes Texas”.
commented 2016-09-08 19:26:02 -0400

You do realize that the CBC isn’t some new thing. Canadians have supported the public broadcaster for well over 60 years.

Just like The British have supported their public broadcaster – The BBC.

Your North Korea comment is completely moronic.
commented 2016-09-08 17:37:55 -0400
I actually agree that Canada is far more socialist than it was 30 years ago. But that doesn’t make it a good thing. The fact that Canadians support a state run broadcaster is scary. Such things belong in North Korea, not a free nation.
commented 2016-09-08 14:50:43 -0400

Here you go – a report from Nanos that confirms that the majority of Canadians support the CBC.

Canadians are more likely to oppose rather
than support cuts to the CBC and think cuts
would have a negative impact on Canadian
content and delivery of local and national news.

Why do you think Harper avoided doing anything with the CBC? It is because he would have received a huge backlash from Canadians.

I know you are a fucking moron, but hopefully you can at least comprehend that your views are in the extreme minority.
commented 2016-09-08 14:45:15 -0400

No – the reality is that Canadians are mostly liberal in varying degrees and the CBC represents them – the vast majority of Canadians.

The demographic/audience for conservative media is so fucking small – be it The Toronto Sun to The Rebel. Why? Because the vast majority of Canadians don’t feel that these news sources represent them or true Canadian views.

Why do you think the Conservative Party is looking to move a little more to the left? It is because they won’t win elections if they maintain views that put them on the wrong side of history – like gay marriage.

Truth be told – most people who post here, shouldn’t even be living in Canada, because you don’t support what makes Canada…Canada.

Texas is more your speed.

Fox News wanted him? Suuuuuuure.

Thanks, Cameron Robock, for being so splendiferous with MY TAX DOLLAR. Neutral reporting my pudgy patoot. Start with the smarmy scrum on the MP bus last October 20, and go from there. You go too. Away from here.
commented 2016-09-08 01:49:22 -0400
Jimmy Reece you also do not factor in that they can pay to have their story links put ahead of others. If you go to a home page like Yahoo it has CBC stories over anyone else. Open that up and see how they do.
commented 2016-09-08 01:47:19 -0400
Cameron Robock , you love making things up don’t you. CBC is not neutral , nor was Peter.
commented 2016-09-08 01:46:09 -0400
Jimmy Reece please show me links to the CBC stories on the attack on the Jewish family in Calgary , or the updates on the Levin trial. Or when they apologized for lying about our troops and slandering them over phony torture claims. Or when they apologized for lying about the Rob Ford 911 call. They do not provide information , they are a propaganda network. I go there to see their BS, and for some reason they feel they can cut my comments for not being pro liberal. That is what bigoted pigs do.
commented 2016-09-08 01:42:51 -0400
Jimmy Reece sorry but Canadians do not support the CBC in huge numbers moron. You even said yourself that people form other countries come there, so it is not Canadians and CBC lies and the Rebel would eat them alive of they got 1 billion a year. And if Canadians love it so much put it to a referendum. They support a public broadcaster , not the CBC the way it is now. Try reading some of those polls. And millions could be only Toronto, that hardly means all of Canada. If Sun news was so poorly run then why did the left not give them a fair shake on TV? Oh sorry to bring up reality.
commented 2016-09-08 01:14:56 -0400
Respect for this person. Neutral reporting for so many years. Worth every penny he got. If anyone complains about how much… He was offered many jobs for a lot more money. Fox News USA tried to hire him. He refused, wanted to keep his soul for God he said. Total respect.
commented 2016-09-08 01:04:32 -0400
So, Jimmy, the CBC caters to the crowd they’ve brainwashed into submission for all these years. How is that a meaningful statement about their popularity? So has Kim Jong Un.
commented 2016-09-07 22:29:18 -0400

To answer your inane question – if the CBC slanted right, I wouldn’t care. If the majority of Canadians supported a conservative CBC as they do a more liberal CBC in reality, then I would accept that. I think there is value in a public broadcaster.

I also acknowledge the fact that we all pay taxes for things that we may not personally support, so instead of crying like a little bitch about the CBC like you do, I would just simply move on and live my life.
commented 2016-09-07 22:24:35 -0400

Here is the proof for you – 15th most popular site in Canada. That’s pretty fucking popular. That is MILLIONS OF CANADIANS that happily go there every day for news and information.

To put that into further perspective – The Rebel ranks at 1,332. Big fucking difference between that number and 15. I am quite sure Canadians would want to get rid of The Rebel long before they get rid of the CBC, which they actually support.
commented 2016-09-07 22:18:26 -0400

Nobody watches TV anymore, so you are right about people watching CBC on TV, but I clearly stated CBC ONLINE, which millions of people go to everyday and it’s among the most popular websites in Canada. Hell, even Americans and Europeans go to the CBC website, because they value the news and information provided even if you don’t.

Thanks JIMMY for not answering the simple question I asked. I suppose you are some kind of union clown too, happy to see your dues go to some paid off jackass politician that you don’t want to support, that ok too? If Ezzra was doing the national and slobbering all over Harper and demeaning Trudeau, doing his utmost to get Harper elected, you would have been fine with your tax dollars going there?REALLY?????

commented 2016-09-07 19:07:30 -0400
Jimmy Reece i shot down your comic comment with real figures, your made up figure was not valid. Just like your made up crap about CBC.
commented 2016-09-07 19:05:51 -0400
Jimmy Reece if William is a Canadian then they should care moron, why the hell should he pay for liberal propaganda if they do not give a fuck you loser?
commented 2016-09-07 19:05:03 -0400
Jimmy Reece sorry that is utter BS, hardly anyone watches the damn CBC and they do not represent Canada like they are supposed to. And sorry but the majority do not support them.
commented 2016-09-07 15:47:36 -0400
William Collins,

You are completely wrong as every other public funded broadcaster in the world is no different than the CBC or any other media source. You are demanding something from the CBC – that doesn’t exist anywhere else in the entire world. You can’t please everyone, but the majority of Canadians do support the CBC and self identify as liberal in varying degrees. So the reality is that CBC caters to the majority of Canadians – hence the reason why millions of people go to their website every single day.

The numbers don’t lie, so unfortunately no one gives a fuck what you think.
commented 2016-09-07 15:33:52 -0400
Senate seat for sure. The Trudeau Laurentian elite are our Clinton mafia. This biased limousine liberal shill bastard makes Dan Rather look like an actual journalist.

“Every single public broadcaster in the world is the same as the CBC, so clearly you don’t know what the fuck you are talking about. Every single media source on the planet is biased one way or another – how they are funded is irrelevant.” JIMMY REECE, You are delusional. How they are funded is very relevant, especially when their bias is towards the LPC. More access to information documents may show how much Mansbridge received from the LPC to gin up the base for JT. If it was a movie it would have been a rom-com.
commented 2016-09-07 14:20:59 -0400
David White,

Every single public broadcaster in the world is the same as the CBC, so clearly you don’t know what the fuck you are talking about. Every single media source on the planet is biased one way or another – how they are funded is irrelevant.

The fact of the matter is that the majority of Canadians support the CBC and don’t want it to go away, so the unfortunate reality for you is that the majority of Canadians thinks that the CBC represents Canada just fine. Hence the reason why millions of people go to the CBC website every single day for news and information – while nobody comes here by comparison.

The numbers don’t lie.
