I traveled to Paris to interview Marine Le Pen, President of the Rassemblement National in France's parliament, the Assembly National.
Marine is vilified as 'far right' and many other slurs against her and her party. I wanted to show the real Marine, her party, her politics and her vision for France and Europe.
I first met Marine in 2014 when she sat behind me as an MEP in the European Parliament. I was warned not to engage and not to acknowledge her speeches, despite many people in the UK and UKIP members who all urged UKIP to join a political grouping with her party. Her party had topped the polls in the recent EU elections, as had mine.
From the first time she spoke, I knew it was common sense. She had a vision for her country and the future for Europe.
In 2015 I joined her group. Marine has been a friend to me, along with her colleagues, who are kind, courteous and some of the most intelligent politicians.
I asked her about her politics, the party's name change from the Front National, her vision for France and the issues she will be campaigning on in the forthcoming EU elections in May: the most important elections in a generation, where the people have a choice to either vote for more federalism, loss of democratic control and sovereignty or our vision for a Europe of Nations and Freedom.
I also delved into the real Marine, the woman, mother of three and lover of cats.
This interview sets out her vision and gives you an insight into the real Marine Le Pen.
