Mark Steyn on Trump, Brexit, Marine Le Pen: “There’s muckety-muck phobia all over the Western world”

Brian LilleyArchive

Is populism the future of politics in Canada? Are the little people revolting against the muckety-mucks?

These are the big questions on the table as I sit down with my old friend, the always impressive Mark Steyn at the Manning Conference in Ottawa.

I just hope Canada wakes up from it’s progressive dream before it progresses into a Marxist nightmare. Before we become to mired in the muck to get ourselves unstuck. We need to work on strategies on how we return a balance to the media coverage, the indoctrination of our kids in schools and putting the blindfold back on lady justice.

Mark Steyn is Great. What he says about Conservative values and moving the centre to you is great advice. It reminds me how Patrick Brown has become Liberal Lite with supporting the Carbon Tax and the Islamophobia law in Ontario. He should heed this advice or we are most likely doomed with another Liberal or NDP Government in Ontario. Conservative values must return to the Right of Centre or we are screwed Provincially and Federally.

There’s a number of good candidates in the Conservative race. It’s already been tossed out there that whomever wins, will try to bring most of the others on board in important portfolios. I hope that happens. I think it would be awesome!!

You move the centre of the debate by firmly espousing the extreme opposite and hammering away at it every at every opportunity!

Bill. We may already have seen it come and go. That being the attempt to change the electoral system.
But we’ll stand at the ready to rail against any such additional attempts by Trudeau,

I like Brad Trost but Andrew Scheer did well in the last debate. There is strength and confidence behind that perpetual smile and he is not afraid to speak up to or against Trudeau. He’s not a fan of CBC news. He is articulate and is organized in his thoughts. He would probably appeal to younger Canadians in an election.
He is also pro-life!
I like what Max Bernier is saying but I just don’t think he’d appeal to younger voters.

Mark, you gotta get back over here we need you. We will even teach you to speak English. Common.

Very jovial and candid chat with a champion of freedom, Mark Steyn, thank you Brian, this was enjoyable and insightful (as Steyn usually is).

I agree with him the new CPC leader has to be someone who moves the bar back in place from being skewed to offshore interests instead of Canadian interests.

I also think he is on the money when he says that jr. Trudeau will attempt to do something drastic and irreversible. That makes complete logical sense given his radical dogmatic nature, the intolerant ideologues he has surrounded him and his total lack of judgement and contempt for protocol.

Whatever stunt he tries to pull ff on Canadians, he has 3 things against him his Father did not have to contend with – - 1) this isn’t 1967 and the heady days of optimism and blind trust in government is gone – the majority of voters (outside the special interest and naifish millennial demographic) have been screwed over by all parties and brand loyalty means squat, we pick a ringer we feel will damage us the least. Big tax hike big debt load, poor wage and job prospects mean something and we reject political liars who tell us we are imagining things as our stomachs rumble an we keep an old car alive another year.

2) Canadians dislike big changes based in intolerant ideologies, particularly if it involves any unfairness or bullying in enforcement from sharia law to gun confiscating, the backlash will lose the Liberals the government benches.

3) the insincere maudlin dramatics that is Trudeau’s only political forte and his lack of judgement and strategy make him incapable of selling a bitter pill to Canadians – whatever this big change he has planned, I can guarantee it will repercuss as an epic Liberal loss at the polls.

Funny how Justin thinks The Baltics aren’t a thing but islamophobia is. No grip on reality

Adam was revolting, so was Eve. Me too. How bout the Old Testaments? Koran?

Very profound of Mark to mention that conservatives should move the meter more to their side. As much as I would hope to see it happen, it just ain’t gonna happen, conservatives are suffering from Stockholm syndrome in this country. They have allowed the media to write the narrative in this country, which in turn holds them hostage . They are all cucks. I for one am sick and tired of the left crying and shaming and blaming and never ever getting anything accomplished, except by piling on more taxes and regulations.

Stick a fork in Canada, it’s done.

And for those that think that Canada will break up or have a civil war……….. pffffffft. The only thing that will happen is that crime rates will soar, as more and more people crawl into booze bottles and self medicate to try and escape the madness that the globalist left has bestowed upon us. Stay safe , heads up and keep your stick on the ice, for you are now on your own.

Phyllis, this week, after watching the Manning debate, Scheer and Bernier are fighting for first place in my mind. I like Trost, and he is fully competent, I just don’t think he could wrestle the vote from Justin’s grip.
We’ll see how I feel next week.

I think Scheer’s humour and wit has the potential of running circles around Justin’s blather, which by election time, even the pot heads will be sick of listening to.

If Mark Steyn thinks even polite, socialist leaning, don’t-rock-the-boat Canada, is showing signs of a similar pushback to what we’re witnessing in much of the West – then that’s encouraging. There is no more astute and perceptive observer of these sorts of things than he is. So come on, Canada, time to wake up!

Peter, so did I misspell his name. Sorry Mark.
Awe, Justin doesn’t give a sht. He thinks he will be above the chaos, that his name and his regularly padded pockets will save him. He would prostitute himself to anyone who pays well. Two bit whore that he is. When this thing is said and done and Canadians bite back he better hope his money properly insulates him.

I really didn’t think Steyn said anything revelatory and rather unusually for him, beat around the bush. Even he sounded guarded in this suppression-of-free speech world. What we need is a man with the ideology of Trost, the business sense of O’Leary, the charm of Scheer, and the common sense values of Leitch. That’s a tough one to find. I once thought that even a monkey could win against Trudeau in 2019; now not so sure. Brad Wall would be my choice, but he just won’t leave his province. We could do our own poll on the Rebel. Who do Canadians believe could win against Trudeau?

Some may call them Muckity Mucks, I prefer Death Cult. Whatever you call them, the fact is, Justin Trudeau, the Traitor, is selling Canada out for Saudi Gold. His time will come and when it dose, it will be the Muckity Muck way. He is to stupid to realize that he is just a pawn for Islam.
commented 2017-02-27 15:18:22 -0500
Whoops! I spelled Mark Steyn’s last name wrong. Sorry Mark!

muckety-muck: an important and often arrogant person

Though both Mark Stein and Brian Lilly are important people, neither is arrogant. And I agree, we could use more appearances of Mark Stein. Smart, common sense man. We need more of his type in the world.

I love the muckity muck, only a Canadian could get away saying it. I sincerely hope we start standing up to the muckety mucks in Canada who are mucking with our lives, and heritage of our country. This new injection of muslim muckety muck is proving to be the most obnoxious and tenacious bucket of muck we have as Canadians ever had to deal with. Our boots aren’t high enough and our shovels aren’t big enough. It’s time to man the bulldozers.
Awesome interview. Love Mark Stein . Canada needs him here.

Far too many uses of the words muckety muck for one video, gentlemen.

There is no one more commonsensical or with his finger “on the pulse” than Mark Steyn. Just wish we could see more of him on The Rebel!
