Maxime Bernier hires former anti-oil sands activist

Keean BexteRebel Contributor

Peoples Party of Canada leader Maxime Bernier has hired a fossil fuel divestor as an Electoral District Association (EDA) coordinator in his national party office.

Daniel Tyrie authored this opinion piece for The Waterloo Region Record — an opinion piece that shares many talking points with the eco-radicals you see on campuses these days — demanding the University of Waterloo pull more than $68 million out of “polluting companies” like Shell, British Petroleum, and Exxon Mobil.

At a time when oil companies are fleeing Alberta, like the US-based Devon Energy, companies like BP own three oil sands assets in the Athabasca basinMaxime Bernier has a staffer working for him that wanted companies operating in the oil sands to tank.

Alberta has a tough time being represented in Ottawa. Confederation has systematically oppressed the West, from equalization to the number of seats they have in Parliament – they are the country’s underdog. It’s part of the reason Alberta has been so excited about Maxime – he won the CPC leadership vote in Alberta by a landslide, he swept Calgary, most of Edmonton, and split the rural vote with Scheer.

But now we are seeing something different: Maxime Bernier —the "Albertan from Quebec" — hired an anti-oil sands activist, Tyrie worked closely with Fossil Free UW, a campus club hell-bent on stopping pipelines and suffocating Alberta. Bernier’s staff now features someone who believed — just eleven months ago — that because the University of Waterloo has money in energy investments, that it is “responsible for devastating our climate and our future.”

I contacted Daniel Tyrie about this, and he told me that he has since changed and that he was caught up in a sort of undergraduate climate hysteria. Tyrie said, “[He] now views fossil fuels and pipelines in particular as necessary for both economic stability and national unity in Canada.”

The PPC told The Rebel that they were not aware of the article written by Tyrie at the time he was hired. They added that Tyrie was with Maxime at the recent United We Roll convoy in Ottawa, and:

“There is no reason to doubt his beliefs, which in any case cannot have any impact on PPC policies as he is only involved on the organizational side and not on policies.”

Bernier, A true card carrying separatist from the Montreal thug club. He does not have Canada’s interests at heart let alone Alberta. He’ll tell you what you wanna hear!

Here’s another reason not to pin our hopes on politicians. The two-faced creeps are as unstable as water. They always seek the lowest moral level.

Check out Max’s twitter feed. He has retweeted a few of this kids comments on the subject, and isn’t at all concerned. Daniel tyrie is just a staffer, one of many. Its not like he writes policy, he isn’t an executive board member, he is a staffer. A young staffer who co authored that article as an political science and economics student with an environmental studies student for a credit.
He says he has morphed. Its not a bad idea to invite those who may have leaned left over to our side. Bernier needs to attract ‘walkaways’, its always been part of the strategy. Even if he were a plant, it would be evident soon enough. There have been people refused and thrown out before and I am sure it will happen again.

I, for one, am going to await what Maxime himself has to say about this appointment… Until then, it is obviously just conjecture on the part of too, too many people eager to put him down…

For those trying to besmirch Berniers character, you shouldn’t throw stones. Anyone who deletes the platform he got elected on, the minute he is over the finish line, is of questionable character in my opinion. It probably wasn’t him anyway. He has some pretty solid ‘good old boys’ in the background calling the shots. I wish that were a good thing.

The PPC has welcomed members from across the political spectrum. Bernier says as long as the basic principles of the party are respected anyone is welcome.

I trust Bernier’s character, but if I didn’t or he didn’t exist, I would probably be voting Liberatarian just to try and break this insane two party system which looks more and more like the same system as time goes on. So if anyone is concerned about a split vote there is no need. I still probably wouldn’t vote for Scheer at this point and I don’t think I’m alone in that. Scheer only has himself to blame for that.

Wash rinse repeat is just over in the minds of many Canadians. Both the liberals and the CPC are unwilling to deal with the problems and threats which should be foremost in their minds. Scheer may be just beginning to try to say the right things with out having to put a stamp on it, but I do not trust him to follow through.

“It’s almost like sitting in on an AA meeting. “Hi, my name is Glenn Craig. I used to be a liberal.”

I did that so that if Keane Bexte wants to go much raking and play “gottcha” with me (in an effort to undermine Max) I have stolen his thunder….no skeletons in closet to be news headlines.

As noted in Keean’s article the PPC’s statement is,
“There is no reason to doubt his beliefs, which in any case cannot have any impact on PPC policies as he is only involved on the organizational side and not on policies.”

Could HE be a plant for the anti-pipeline nutbars? One never knows these days. I’m sure he will be properly vetted by the PPC to determine if he truly has changed his views and come to his senses. As we’ve seen these last 2 weeks, lies do have a way of coming out in the end.

Alberta NDP are toast, More interesting info on Bernier the socialist/commie that you posted in the letter by Simone Georges. Looks like a one sided tag team wrestling match at the rebel concerning the Bernier fan club. I hope people do some research for themselves before falling for the former conservative MP Bernier who is breaking his promise not to run against the conservatives in 2019. This is not a reliable or trustworthy individual.

The Rebel keeps sinking. Not only is it heading toward national enquirer status but now we are getting testimonials of conversion to the religion of ppc and the high priest Maxwell. It is amusing to hear confessions of these conversions. It’s almost like sitting in on an AA meeting. “Hi, my name is Glenn Craig. I used to be a liberal.” Some of you are hilarious the way you act within your rebel bubble in the church of Maxwell, doing your penance and praying every day to another Quebec politician. Freaking Hilarious!

Just perhaps – to paraphrase some one – Canada in the end is not a “real country” anymore? There are three “distinct” regions in Canada; the west (excl. BC) Ontario and Quebec. The Maritimes don’t count either, like BC.
I am giving Maxime the benefit of the doubt; after all I was a life long conservative before I was swayed by the PPC principles, so everyone can have a change of heart.

I believe in Alb-Sk oil and gas. It should be promoted and given the tools this industry requires ASAP. Maxime took a mature stance on the topic and pipelines shall be built if he is elected.

I would think that any Canadian who is casting about for a replacement for Trudeau will now realize that Scheer and the Conservatives are the only viable alternative. It appears that Bernier is either too foolish to understand the message his choice of staff is sending to Canadians or he just doesn’t care and is a national version of Alberta’s NDP.

“Feel the Bern(ier)!” indeed.

Well I may as well come clean and confess. I was a liberal right up until Harper got elected. I didn’t even vote for him first election. Why? Because as far as I was concerned the feminazis had infiltrated ALL parties and there was no democratic option. And I figured that the feminists in a tory party would be nastier than most.

My “red pill” moment was seeing the witches howl when Harper kept his word and defunded “Women and the Law” and Status of Women…..I was gobsmacked and thunderstruck…..so I held my nose and became a Tory. And I watched with dismay as the Tory’s blew it with policies that cannot possibly sustain support in Canada.

I do not want a Restorationist Oliver Cromwell 2.0

I do not want Faith Goldie’s Spanish Inquisition 2.0

I do not want throw him down an oubliette prisons.

I do not want retirement age snatched away from people when they are almost there.

I do not want my love life chaparoned by agents of the government.

I knew very well that in the days of the Irish Troubles that not all Catholics were bushwackers in the IRA…and I know now that not all moslems are bushwackers in ISIS. (I grew up in a household that believed that the Knights of Columbus kept arsenals in the basement of Catholic Churches awaiting the Pope’s orders to strike). I want ISIS and all like minded thrown out and kept out….but any moslem who refrains from persecuting me for being buddhist I will refrain from persecuting.

So far Max has not disappointed me . So I support him. And I’m perfectly willing to give the young fellow the benefit of the doubt until he gives me cause to do otherwise.

How does one find out who works in the national office of any political party?

Not sure who wrote this.
If your not a liberal when you are young you have no heart.
if your not a conservative when you get older you have no brain.
……………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………..

Jack Nicholson said “If you aren’t a communist by age twenty that proves you have no heart. If you are still a communist by the time you reach thirty that proves you have no brain. And if you can still get it up after age fifty, that proves you have no conscience”

Which if my memory serves me well is dialogue from the movie The Postman Always Rings Twice released just after the war.

It’s pretty obvious that the CPP made a mistake in hiring somebody who is so clearly against their core beliefs. Frankly, i don’t believe that somebody can change their core ideals in eleven months and now that this news is out, I doubt if he will be with the party for long. Good job Keean and the Rebel to bring it to everybody’s attention.
More worrying to me is the nastiness of the divide among the supporters who comment on this platform. The goal has to be to elect a government that represents a conservative viewpoint – I agree that Scheer is too much of a red conservative and that he is not the long term leader that we need in this country, but at this moment he is the only one with a chance to beat Trudeau.

I usually like your reporting but this report leaves me annoyed. There are many many people who start off with the leftest ideology and then realize when they grow up that it is just wrong. I actually think this is a good move because Max will have someone who is FOR fossil fuels who is also knowledgeable about anti oil activists. There is a lot of truth to knowing your enemy.

Charred Remains. You go on and on and on about Alberta independence but you never never never say anything about what you are doing to achieve independence. Why don’t you educate and enlighten everyone on how this will be accomplished and maybe a little ditty on your part in the effort.
