Even while ISIS claims responsibility for the mass shooting carried out by Faisal Hussain, and as law enforcement officials reveal the gun he used was illegally trafficked into Canada from the United States, the liberal left maintains its focus on more laws for legal gun owners in the wake of the Toronto terror attack.
During an evening meeting, Toronto City Council followed through with their promise to ban guns from the city of Toronto.
Councillors voted 41 to 4 for a motion brought forward by councillor Joe Cressy that called on the Federal government to end sales of handguns in Toronto and the province to end ammunition sales within city limits.
The motion also called for a study on how best to use municipal bylaws to target gun owners.
A motion asking for gun repositories to hold residents guns for safe keeping until hunting season, and one calling for a study on the appropriation and repurposing of private gun clubs also passed.
Not a single law or motion that is proposed or passed by the city of Toronto now, or by the federal government in the future, would have stopped Hussain with his illegal gang-linked gun, courtesy of his sewer rat brother.
He wasn't licensed. His gun wasn't registered. He wasn't down at the shooting range, and he wasn't going hunting when moose season opens. He was a terrorist hunting people!
Guns keep people safe, especially when police are not close by, and I think John Tory, at least in his personal life, agrees.
From his armed guards provided by taxpayers, to his secure Toronto condo building, to his gated Florida home patrolled by security, it’s pretty clear that even Tory knows that guns are a great way to keep the bad guys at bay.
But what about the rest of us who can’t afford security guards and gated communities?
