The City of Longueuil has been given the go-ahead by the Quebec environment ministry to dump nearly 150M litres of raw human sewage into the St. Lawrence River.
The city will take eight days, beginning the 15th of November, to complete what it says is a necessary discharge in order to repair a water line that runs under the river.
According to CBC:
“Longueuil plans to use floats to contain as much solid waste as possible. It says it wants to carry out the work before the river freezes...The city insists there will be less impact on the fish because spawning season is over.”
Oh, well, everything is fine then, right? As long as they strain the condoms, baby wipes and other “solids” out of the discharge.
And, as we’ve previously reported, it’s just the latest in a long line of sewage dumps across the country that Catherine McKenna has either approved personally or ignored completely for the sake of political expediency.
Watch as I run down just a few of those cases and show how they affected the ecosystem she claims to care about.
Not only are these medieval levels of sanitation in modern Canada disgusting, they’re also killing wildlife and causing public health crises.
