Multiple sexual assaults and acts of violence took place during Volksfest in Schorndorf.
According to RT, while many were enjoying carnival rides and German beer on Friday, there were at least three sexual assaults in the town. “On Friday evening, police reported three incidents of sexual harassment of women and men at the market place. In one case an Iraqi suspect has been determined,” a police statement said.
Three Afghan asylum seekers also reportedly sexually assaulted a 17-year-old girl on Saturday. Police say they held her down and “grabbed her buttocks” outside the town's main rail station.

In addition, around 1,000 young men gathered at the grounds of Schorndorf Castle on Saturday, and threw bottles at festival-goers and police.
The incident began with police arresting one person on suspicion of causing serious bodily harm. However, others showed solidarity with him and began assaulting officers.
“The violence faced by police was shocking,” a police spokesman said.
Backup needed to be called in from other towns, including officers in riot gear to deal with some men allegedly armed with knives. Two police vehicles were vandalized and an emergency services vehicle was “damaged by a bottle shot, and license plates were removed and stolen on six vehicles”.
