On my show, I spoke with libertarian journalist Milo Yiannopoulos about his fight against Twitter.
On Friday, Twitter took away the little blue checkmark that said Milo was “verified." I have a little verified checkmark too, as do many media types or celebrities. That's one way you can know you're reading, say, the real Donald Trump's tweets and not an impostor's.
Twitter "explained" (vaguely) that Milo had violated their rules and that if he didn't stop, he’d be shut down. So Milo and his followers pushed back. He got 20,000 new followers in 48 hours, and #JeSuisMilo became a top trending hashtag.
Milo points out that many far more controversial people -- including convicted rapists -- still have verified Twitter accounts. He was singled out because Twitter is biased against conservatives and libertarians.
We talk about the future: What happens if he is kicked off Twitter altogether? What happens if and when other social media platforms begin cracking down even more on those with "unacceptable" opinions?
Milo is a "happy warrior" -- I think you'll want to hear what he has to say!
