Montreal Mayor virtue signals away $24M on “Formula E” electric vehicle race

Christopher WilsonRebel Commentator

Social Justice Warriors and Environmental activists are ruining sports, with the latest example in Montreal where Liberal Mayor Denis Coderre has decided his city needs to buck up $24M to host a Formula E race this summer.

Formula E is electric car racing, and pumping this money into the event shows a disgusting lack of respect for the Montreal taxpayer.

Denis Coderre defended the decision to dump $24M into the event suggesting it’s an investment that will show the world that Montreal is a green energy leader.

"We're changing the culture, we want cars but we want electric cars. We want taxis, but we want electric taxis."

Liberals are always so interested in changing culture, never defending it.

Watch as I show you why this is such a bad deal for Montreal taxpayers.

No other cities on the Formula E circuit are putting up any public money. Unlike the Formula 1 event, also subsidized, Formula E is a circuit and competition nobody has heard of.

I'm a fan of open wheel racing and attending the Vancouver Indy Car event each year as I grew up was one of the coolest things I can recall.

The roar of those engines was exciting but for kids and racing enthusiasts attending this summer's Formula E event, all they’ll hear is the soft drone of Prius engines drowned out by the sound of $24M tax dollars sucked down the drain.

To get Coderre out of office, anyone who wants to start their own party will need to piggyback off Valerie Plante first. Put their weight firmly behind her. Strengthen her to the point where Coderre can’t count on a vote split. Otherwise, he gets an easy second term.

The are not repairing the roads because they don’t want people to drive. Corrupt politicians are too busy pocketing tax payers money.

Mayor Coderre is out of control. He’s a bully. Montrealers can’t stand him.

Radio-Canada (french CBC) did an expose on the 375th birthday (whatever that is) that Coderre forced onto Montreal. The bill was over ONE BILLION $$ !

Here’s the link:

I did some number-crunching…

Expo67 was a monumental event in the history of Mtl and Canada. It was an incredible one-of-a-kind magical event for those who were there.

Expo67’s net cost was $221 million, which in today’s dollars is $1.535 billion… that is only 50% more than this clown Coderre spent on his useless 375th party that no one cares about!

Coderre invited the Pope (!) to Montreal for his big party, but He politely told him to p*ss off.

In other news, Coderre made a sweetheart deal with some developers to smash down the old Montreal Children’s Hospital, which is an old heritage building, and replace it with condo towers.

To think that this assh*le Coderre almost became Prime Minister of Canada, well boy did we dodge a bullet.

(Coderre withdrew from the federal liberal leadership race, then ran in 2013 for Montreal mayoralty race as a backup plan.)

ps. After Melanie Joly lost that mayoralty to Coderre she was asked if she was going to enter federal politics. Her answer.. “No”.

The manufacture, raw material sourcing, repowering and disposal of E-vehicle tech is exponentially dirtier than petro fueled cars, Coderre and his green groupies are mouth breathing, drooling morons when it comes to understanding tech impacts on the environment – but hey, what do you expect from a crank politician that dumps raw suage inti the St. Laurence. . Inept venal cretins like this in public office is a large part of our decline as a culture/civilization.

Not entirely with you on this one Christopher….one of the hallmarks of life in Montreal every summer is vital traffic arteries becoming nightmare detours while road work goes on 24/7 and if Denis Corderre figured out a way to do what had to be done and get another event to piggy back on the new fresh asphalt then it was not really a watse.

The roads on every street in Montreal are in such a bad condition that you think you are driving through a field of rocks. A quarter of the city streets are in construction with orange cones all over the place. Everybody tries to avoid that city now. But of course, the libtard Coderre isn’t bothered with small stuff like money, and promotes another car race that nobody will go to. The worst of all is that that leftard infested city will still vote for him.

Thanks Christopher!
Yuge waste of taxpayer money! Formula E race will be as fun as watching paint dry… expensive snoozefest!
Definitely no ear plugs needed for spectators or race car drivers.
I hope their batteries run out with 5 laps to go!

Electric cars are not ready yet, ELon Musk talks big but delivers little. And batteries lose power over time and resale value is terrible.

WE?? Who the hell is he to speak for anyone else?

This is bigger than the original ad scam… This is the ultimate add scam and con job promoting electric vehicles to the people who are undecided..
Montreal probably had to borrow that money to sponsor this race and I can see all the property taxes going up by a few hundred dollars each year forever however their infrastructure allows for raw sewage to be dumped into the St. Lawrence… What a bunch of hypocrites.!!
