More job cuts at Postmedia, but CBC is HIRING?

Brian LilleyArchive

While privately owned newspapers are cutting jobs all over the place, CBC is still hiring.

Postmedia announced that 90 news jobs will be cut across the country. Meanwhile, they’re hiring over at the CBC.

As I explain in my report, CBC is a major contributing factor to the demise of many newspapers across the country and yet the reaction from the largest media union is sadly predictable as it takes aim at Post Media rather than the real culprit.

If they really want to help save jobs and provide Canadians with diverse news and opinions to choose from, they should be telling the CBC to stick to its mandate and allow the non-taxpayer subsidized players to compete freely for advertisers and subscribers.

The CBC actively campaigns for Justin Trudeau and the Liberals, so why should we subsidize them?

Ontario with its big English-speaking majority was made officially bilingual by a cabal of the provincial conservative, liberal, NDP and green parties a few years ago and it still has not been reported in a newspaper or on the television news. Over 350,000 white farmers have been killed in South Africa since the end of apartheid and that has not been reported by the news media. Even with film clips of Nelson Mandella dancing and singing “Kill the Boer” at the coverage of all of our Canadian politicians attending the funeral of this convicted murderer and terrorist, our media is not reporting this. I guess it does not fit their agenda. Oh, what is their agenda? What else is there that they are not telling us about.

@vladislav Muravin. Ditto your remarks and the same CBC type censorship is alive and well at the CTV (Continuous Trudeau Vision).

The dead tree media is dead as an information source, most people buy it for the classifieds and to train puppies. The problem is the dino media has never figured out how to effectively market on the internet.

CBC is of course free, most crap is free, you pay for quality and if you aspire to inform yourself with the concocted narratives ground out by the government news corp, you deserve to be treated like the fool they think you are.

I am preparing to cancel my subscription to Sun News if we get any of the pro-cultural Marxist garbage that led to the demise of the other Postmedia papers in my local Sun paper. Too bad about the propaganda job losses, sorry I mean news job losses. Joke! Joke!

CBC being sued right now by multiple people, even their golden boy Gomeshi LMAO. Gonna be funny hearing the lefties excuses for that one.

Michael Mann Pepsi is better than Coke, and CBC lies, how about the ROb Ford 911 call, Troop torture BS , the robocalls BS, the Duffy BS, they did not even report the attack on the Jewish family in Calgary, and they protected Gomeshi and blamed his victims , the CBC are sickening pigs.

Don Cloud which channel do you mean? You just described CBC.
commented 2016-01-21 01:38:02 -0500
Postmedia needs to convince it’s readers/watchers that they no longer have that other channel anymore. The one with the hard twisted, biased answers.

I see the battle between the mighty CBC and all other news papers is with us again.
Is it true the CBC could not make it on their own without the Canadian Government slipping money their way? I personally think we should challenge that thought and see if they can last a year on their own. I feel the CBC should at least try for a half year. More if they have the guts like all the rest of the un suckered papers and news groups. Ghomeshi was just a mistake and you all maned right up and dumped him in the end. One down.

The CBC is hiring. Well it sure helps when they get an additional $150,000 million injection of taxpayer money as a payoff from Trudeau for helping with his elections!

CBC hires people to screen our only comments (YES THEY DO!) and ban anyone that dares to challenge pro-feministic pro-Muslim appeasing, anti-conservative, leftist views. I am banned since summer 2014 war between Hamas and Israel and I never made any insulting or inappropriate comment on their pages. If you are a right or a center-right person, pro-conservative, anti-climate change bullshit, pro-Israel, pro-freedom etc, you are banned easily. On the taxpayer dime!

Hmm(sound of hands rubbing together vigorously) (camera pans to CBC boardroom) Q:How do we spend an extra $150 million promised by our new friends in Ottawa? A: Why don’t we put it in digital form on the net? We can supply all the news as we don’t have to put up a paywall. (camera pans to next person) That’s brilliant, when the private companies start their inevitable round of layoffs we pick up all their disgruntled ex-employees. (camera pans to a drooling Lacroix) The unions will be happy that they have no falloff in revenues and we have a brand new band of recruits to the dark side. (camera pans to a picture of Pierre Trudeau) (all voices in unison) Our mission is complete! All dissenting voices have been silenced. Long live Pravda!

Well, CBC had nothing to do with Post’s “restructuring”. Our declining Canadian dollar just doesn’t go as far as it used to if you’re paying off purchasing debt for borrowed Yankee bucks.

But having said that, I can’t help but think of a lot better uses for a billion public bucks than that useless, bloated anachronism.

Maybe turdo la doo can offer al these recently unemployed journos some CBC jobs? It would be a hell of an opportunity for The tit to get some more selfies.

Had a friend who left the CBC years ago. She said she didn’t want to become a drug addict.

When an organization like the CBC gets $1B per year in welfare and is heavily unionized, you could rape children at the CBC and no one would say a word – well I guess they eventually did, right Ghomeshi?

I guess this rape culture at the CBC is why the CBC makes excuses for muslims raping Canadian women – like that Montreal pig muslim who raped 24 women – and the CBC made excuses/cheered all along the way.

Many thanks to Ezra and Brian – Canadians need a venue to vent against Ottawa’s decades old fringe organizations like the CBC which are force fed upon Canadians.

The CBC are not driving newspapers out of business. It is that nobody cares about newspapers any more. Besides, it is not like the newspapers do not have their own website with news on it. In spite of this, I still do not go on the internet to look at the Winnipeg Free Press or the Winnipeg Sun.
commented 2016-01-20 01:02:31 -0500
Hello Michael, where are you on the important stories. NO WHERE. Just on the shit ones. Go to your CBC and suck their dicks why don’t you.
commented 2016-01-20 00:41:48 -0500

If he did that, he would have lost way more than he had in this election. CBC has huge Canadian support through their various outlets. He knew that. No conservative will ever dismantle the CBC.
commented 2016-01-20 00:28:14 -0500
One of the biggest failures of Harper was not to dismantle the CBC when he had the chance.

I know you want to live in your safe bubble here, but sorry – I can’t do that for you.
commented 2016-01-20 00:19:26 -0500

Your tax dollars go to many things you don’t support. The CBC is the least of it.
commented 2016-01-19 23:48:57 -0500
Get CBC out of the Newspaper business – we get enough lies from their news broadcasting – I would like to see this Tax supported thief Leftist Broadcaster sold!
I resent that they Broadcast bias left sided favored news on my tax dollars – Either report neutrally or they should have their license revoked trouble is CRTC is one of CBC’s old crony bias friends – just sell CBC! A good portion of Canadians don’t want their Tax Dollars used to support Leftist Propaganda – to be honest CTV is no better!

I keep noticing you on this shit media Michael, get a life somewhere else PLEASE.

Why does Brian even compare The Rebel with CBC or with newspapers for that matter? It’s absolute apples and oranges.

The competition for The Rebel is other dipshit media blogs – not the CBC. It’s laughable how Brian thinks The Rebel and CBC are worthy of being mentioned in the same sentence as if CBC is Coke and The Rebel is Pepsi.

Woo-hoo to the further dilution of MSM! Our tax dollars look after CBC, pathetic excuse for Cdns’ info source. I cancel my cable subscription, hope that in some way other media traitors like CTV, Global, newspapers, etc. will suffer as a result of their disgusting, pathetic behavior, their duplicity in Turdomania #2, his subsequent election. (Perhaps even correct the errors of their ways?) lol!! Oh no, CBC remains at the top of shiza heap because they are eternally funded. Will the dwindling heap of media party dung in Ottawa stand up against CBC … or merely scratch and scramble for a CBC job?? There will be no shame, that is for sure.
commented 2016-01-19 21:38:27 -0500
That is why I cancelled shawdirect last year, after the Sun went down as well as some of my neighbors.!!
commented 2016-01-19 20:51:51 -0500
I don’t think that the CBC is a major factor in the problems facing the newspaper business. The problem with Postmedia is it abandoned its audience long ago. When it started out it was right wing conservative. The same was true of the SUN. Over the years it has turned Liberal. Imagine what would happen to FOX news if one day it fired all its on-air people and hired MSNBC anchors. FOX ratings would drop by 80%. This is what has happened at Postmedia.

Left wing hacks at Postmedia such as Andrew Coyne and David Akin would be at home at CBC and if Harper had ever proposed to privatize the CBC these same liberal hacks would be screaming the loudest even though the CBC is taking a bite out of their lunch. Aside from Muslim immigration the BIGGEST MISTAKE Harper made as PM was not privatizing the CBC. He should have sold it off when he had the chance.

What I don’t understand about Paul Godfrey is he let his writers go off the reservation during the last election when it was the position of the paper to endorse Harper. If I was heading the NYC hedge fund that owns Postmedia I would immediately fire Godfrey.

Newsflash Brian – Newspapers are dying. TV and online media are still hiring.

The cbc

Voice of liars and malcontents.

Survives on lefties and tax dollars.

Anyone else been banned by them for telling the truth?
