Liberals are taking particular glee in an old video of Thomas Mulcair singing the praises of Britain's Margaret Thatcher and her pro-free market ways.
His comments, including the statement that "government intervention doesn't work", were made at the National Assembly in Quebec when he was part of the opposition Liberals who at that time were fighting back against the Parti Quebecois and their economy destroying socialist policies.
This video shows that even Mulcair knows that the Quebec model doesn't work, a fact which Statistics Canada figures confirm in comparisons of median family income among the larger provinces. Quebec is a beautiful province with a lot of potential, but economically it doesn't work.
If Mulcair used to understand this, why would he want to bring the Quebec model, including national day care, to the whole country?
It's easy to just laugh about this and dismiss it but instead, I think it's worth paying attention to what the old Thomas Mulcair had to say and suggest that he take some of his own advice and stop trying to bring the failed Quebec model to the rest of Canada, a model which just leaves everyone poorer and in equal misery.
