Ezra's top 10 observations from tonight's leaders debate

Did you watch the foreign policy debate hosted by the Munk Centre tonight? It was pretty good — all three party leaders were on their game.

Oddly, the CBC refused to broadcast the debate — strange, given their public mandate, and the $1 billion in taxpayer funds they get each year.

Ezra watched the debate, and made a list of ten moments that caught his attention — from Thomas Mulcair’s witty barbs against Justin Trudeau; to Trudeau’s love-letter to his father; to Stephen Harper playing the grown-up on everything from the environment to Canada-U.S. relations.

Trudeau is showboating and invoking his father, what a thunder douche.

His father was the Father of De-confederation

They walked into the Trudeau trap there.

Trudeau, your Dads values sucked.

PE Trudeau can rot in his grave!

What’s wrong with fear? Sorry but the threat of terror in my country scares me!!

Did you ever notice that the shiny pony sounds a lot like Sylvester the cat in the old Bugs Bunny cartoons?

Love how both Mr Harper and Mr Mulcair, who know what they are talking about, look in total toleration of Junior’s talking points.
commented 2015-09-28 19:35:36 -0400
Why does Trudeau always speak in such angry tones? Every debate, he gets angrier.
commented 2015-09-28 19:35:11 -0400
Too bad we couldn’t throw up a picture of the refugees and have tweedle dum and tweedle doo explain all the young healthy men in group.

No translation for tredau response: interesting

We liked Harpers responsible reply on taking in too many potential terrorist with the alleged refugees.
commented 2015-09-28 19:33:56 -0400
I can’t hear Trudeau putting his foot in his mouth… We can hear Mulcair, “blah, blah, blah” Maybe he will take a family into his house. Not taking refugees is not disrespectful to Canadian. This guy scares me.
commented 2015-09-28 19:33:23 -0400
Once again, our LEADER has to defend the only way it should be: security for Canada FIRST. Trudeau isn’t listening either.
commented 2015-09-28 19:33:12 -0400
Bull Shit. No translation for Toms French or Trudeau’s French.. Booooo….!
commented 2015-09-28 19:32:56 -0400
None of them are qualified. Harper must have brain-damage from smoke-inhalation after breathing the fumes from his “pants on fire”. Trudeau is only qualified to have a job where he asks “Would you like fries with that?” Mulcair is not qualified to be class president for a bunch or preschoolers.
commented 2015-09-28 19:32:37 -0400
damnit… where has the translation gone?
commented 2015-09-28 19:32:05 -0400

commented 2015-09-28 19:31:49 -0400
They aren’t living in this world if they think PM Harper’s responsible checks for security are not necessary.
commented 2015-09-28 19:31:38 -0400

commented 2015-09-28 19:31:37 -0400
Harper actually got applause for that last statement
commented 2015-09-28 19:31:33 -0400
Both Mulcair and Trudeau stand up for human rights here in Canada, but, are not willing to fight for those same rights for the Syrians.

In other words, for the NDP and the Liberals human rights are conditional and geographically dependent.
commented 2015-09-28 19:31:13 -0400
Canada is well known as THE BEST place in the WORLD to live. How can Trudeau and Mulcair actually claim we aren’t doing enough!!?!?!
