A Minneapolis police officer has been charged after he allegedly threatened his wife the night before he was sworn in as a cop.
According to Dakota County prosecutors, 29-year-old Ahmed Mohamed Jama got into an argument with his wife at 11pm on August 1. Star Tribune reports Jama threatened to shoot his wife in the head and told her that he would get away with it.
The following day, she told police that she feared for her life. Meanwhile, her husband was sworn in as a Minneapolis police officer.
Acting Minneapolis Police Chief Medaria Arradondo said Jama is on probation with the department and has been placed on administrative leave.
In a statement to police, Jama said the argument was more of a discussion and denied making the threat.
However, he was later arrested and charged with making threats of violence with intent to terrorize.
