MUST READ: Don Cherry shares fond memories of Rob Ford, slams "left-wing kooks," media

StaffRebel Columnist

You might get teary-eyed reading this.

Don Cherry took to Twitter to share his memories of Rob Ford and express his sympathies to the Ford family.

Let's just say it's a must-read and Don really nails it.

“I don’t know, maybe it’s me, when I hear these media types go on and on and on about what a great guy Rob Ford was now that he’s dead.”

“I wonder, where were these people when Rob needed them when the lefties were piling on him. Rob’s whole life was for helping people.”

“Sure he had his faults, don’t we all? No public servant was hounded thru life like Rob. Reporters spying over his fence, police with helicopters following him, people in TV popping up to accost him as he entered his house, the list goes on.”

“Rob dedicated his life to inner city kids to have a life with football to help them. He spent thousands of his own money to help them and hours and hours to coach them. And when he tried to raise money for the football teams and the kids they took him to court cause of the letterhead.”

“They took away from him the kids he loved and his coaching job so he went into a state of depression.”

“How about the media, playing up every mistake he ever made. Even when he fell down throwing the football, they must have shown that a hundred times. What got me, they reported this stuff with glee. It’s the old story, they reported the plane crash with a gleam in their eye. The left wing kooks had a field day, they showed no mercy.”

“Rob helped hundreds of people nobody knows about. I remember when I went to city council, to put the mayor’s chain of office around Rob’s neck, when he became mayor, I couldn’t believe the hate towards Rob from those left wing kooks. He was the people’s mayor and a great guy.”

“Rob had a lot of friends and I know we all send our thoughts to his kids, wife, mom and Doug. Rest in peace Rob.”

Now that's something special.

Bill Elder – they attacked Rob Ford, just like they attacked and demonized PM Harper. And just like they are trying to do to Trump in the US. There isn’t any hope for the left, as they have lost their marbles. These people are collectively insane.

The lefty nattering classes showed us what they are really about in the demonization of Rob Ford’s good natured common-guy stumbling and the total dismissal/defense of Jack Layton’s clandestine debauchery;

When you get past their moral pretense, leftists are venal, treacherous and evil-hearted. Rob Ford’s high profile tormentors and accusers probably haven’t a twinge of regret about their part in Rob Ford’s personal unravelling, if they do they certainly are keeping their regrets to themselves because I’ve seen no public apology for the viciousness shown this man. Most of the glowing eulogies from the usual leftoid suspects are strained and insincere – just as they will be for Don Cherry when his time comes.

To Ford’s high profile tormentors and slanderers, and you know who you are, I say that this reflection on Rob’s struggles and untimely passing is a celestial opportunity to recant your soul-sucking enmity and live a life guided by positive spiritual principles rather than the politically expedient evil that guided your hand in destroying Rob Ford.

Ralph Stea you forgot to ad that the bordello was staffed by sex slaves as well.

A number of years ago I use to listen to a talk show aptly named Talk From The heart (still love that name) Anyhow the show was a talk show featuring guests who specialized in a number of areas mostly dealing with addictions and abuse and often issues more related to a Christian culture but certainly not limited to it. The host of the show had an unusual gift of sifting through callers requests for help (people often assuming the name George) and getting to the root of their problems. The host of the show a man (Rich Buhler) had a very compassionate heart and a great deal of wisdom once told this little story. He relayed how a young man called him once and relayed a story of how he had struggled with issues in his life which he finally had gained the courage to confront. He brought his issues up in the church environment in which he grew up and was quickly shamed into silence. So he stuffed his problems back in a whole and went on living the way he always had. What could have been an opportunity to deal with is addictions was missed and left him regretting he ever brought it up. The reason I am saying all this is we all have the ability to be an agent of mercy. If your worst enemy came to you for help with a serious problem like an addiction would you see this as an opportunity of a lifetime to screw them over or would you drop your petty personal differences and reach out to them with a bit of humanity? If your child had a problem and needed a friend wouldn’t you want someone like that or would you rather they were met with the “vicious scorn” Rex Murphy just described Rob Ford was the recipient of?

Layton caught with his pants down in a bordello is a hero..
Rob caught with a pipe is a pariah
What says more about the hypocrites of the liberal left.

I was on the board of a community co-op, trying to bring a better business environment so that it would be around for a long time with local employment and community services. The staff and most board members were not happy with this approach. How dare you upset the staff, this is unmoral. Before long I was being told that I upset the whole community. It did not stop there, they attacked my parents. I sympathies with Rob Ford and ask; why do we have to bend over backward with kitten gloves and apologies profusely when a lefty has hurt feelings. However people like Rob and us are treated with pure contempt, having things turned and twisted then publicized lies. Not enough, our innocent families must be torment too, as if we deserve it for being so heartless. We may put on a strong front, but it does hurt. R.I.P. Rob they can’t hurt you any more.

Donald Allan: I agree. The ridiculous behaviors and the denials are all apart of someone who is dealing or not dealing with addictions. I only wish our society had grown to the point where we could put aside our differences in these cases and create an environment where a person could step forward without fear of judgement and say I have a problem. I need help and if needed lovingly but firmly pressure the person into getting help. If it was one of our brothers or sisters or children just like Dog Ford we would be wanting support not derision or people giving him reason to try and bury his problems while he was in for one of the battles of his life.

The gauche lefties expressing their own ignorance, fear and hate speak much more about themselves, than what Rob Ford was about…
The rest of us recognize Rob Ford for the good man he was and a good man who tried to make a difference.
I suspect history will be much kinder to you than the Marxist Media Party and fellow travelers ever were.
Thanks Rob…

Hypocrisy and gossip sell news.
Hopefully this will be addressed, at some point, in Rob Ford’s case and some, just some may learn from this lesson.

If there was ever a case of stocking it was done by the CBC, Global, CTV and the TORONTO STAR and they have the nerve to print 5 pages. What a bunch of TOTAL hypocrites.

Nothing exposed the hypocrisy of the leftist media more than their despicable treatment of Ford over his substance abuse. The righteous bastards would fight to the gates of hell for one of their leftist causes, but a man like Ford was rejected and mocked because he was not of their ilk.
The media really are a hateful miserable group of miscreants and charlatans.

In the midst of all the mockery and laughter I couldn’t help feeling crushed when I saw Doug Ford, whose voice was filled with emotion express concern for his brother’s health and safety and I couldn’t imagine what it would be like to have a family member being publicly held out to ridicule while he was fighting to confront the deadly grasp of addictions.

Michael – I agree, empathy is what makes us human!

Deborah….. In order to feel guilt, one would have to have empathy. Part of the diseased mind of the left is clearly, their lack of empathy.

The press and especially progressive types are so full of shit it is incredible they really think we don’t notice. The msm is pathetic at best Rob ford was a good man who tried to make a difference. That is more than can be said for the politically correct progressives who sit and bitch, and attack people who do something.

The left have no humanity or compassion for anyone but themselves, and their greedy cling-a-longs. They fake compassion, and spin the lies necessary to fool many, in order to stay in power, and to pad their own bank accounts with taxpayer money. But in the end, liars will be held to account.

Global news @5:30 host Allan Carter is a small mean spirited man. My local radio station did the same thing when they announced Rob’s death, playing a bunch of sound bites. Made me sick. Bunch of ghouls, having a laugh on the day the man dies. Can you stoop any lower? Rob had more charity in him than these losers will ever muster.

As the saying goes, the people get the government they deserve. Well Toronto is ruled by the left wing rabble now. They deserved it. They got it.

R.I.P. Rob.

You’re right, Don did bring tears to my eyes! Rob was the people’s mayor, and all those who stalked him, and harassed him, should be hanging their heads in shame. But what we will see is the photo op pictures of fake crocodile tears from those flakes at city hall. In spite of Rob’s human foibles, of which we all possess, he was a great man, and he gave freely of his time and money to those who really deserved it. He gave them a chance because he had a big heart. He was larger than life, and died way too young. RIP Rob, the rest of us will carry on in your spirit. God bless you for your kindness and your service to your fellow man.

If you read the CBC articles on Rob Ford after his death carefully, you will easily see the jabs they are still doing, carefully masked of course, but definitely there.

Truer words were never spoken. What I loved about Rob was that what you saw was what you got. No airs or graces about him…no fakeness….just beautiful Rob…inside and out. Thank-you, Rob, for putting up with all their vitriol just to help the “common” people of Toronto. For that we salute you! xoxo

Global news @5:30 hosted by Allan Carter played a collage every moment of Rob at his worst as if those moments were his defining Character Traits.

Absolutely Disgusting treatment of the Man on the day he died!

By contrast, the CBC & CTV were most respectful in covering his life of Public Service.

Shame on you Global & Allan Carter, Shame on you!!!
