High school students in Minnesota protested a mandate prohibiting them from flying the American flag in the school's parking lot.
According to CBS, the ban came info effect after a handful of students displayed Confederate flags on their cars.
The text in the parking permit application states:
“Students are not allowed to display flags or banners from their vehicles while parked in the ROCORI school parking lot and “any violations of these procedures can and may be given a ticket or towed away at the expense of the owner.”
On Wednesday, a number of trucks outside the school proudly displayed the American flag in defiance of the ban.
Under a new deal, “ROCORI students will be responsible for policing flags in the parking lot.”
However, the Confederate flag is still banned because according to school administrators, it could be offensive and hurtful.
