Nanny State deems man’s surname vanity plate “misogynistic”

David MenziesMission Specialist

After decades of driving around Nova Scotia with vanity plates proudly displaying his  surname, poor Lorne Grabher has suddenly been told his name isn’t politically correct

It took one complaint from an anonymous member of Generation Snowflake who was triggered by the GRABHER plate.

The Nanny State, or Nova Scotia Registry of Motor Vehicles, was happy to aid and abet the sensitive care bear.

The province has cancelled Lorne’s vanity licence plate due to misogyny. Watch as I explain their reasoning.

On the positive side, the province isn’t planning on removing Lorne from circulation. Well, at least not yet any way.

Wouldn’t it be better for the ministry to send a letter to the Nervous Nelly who complained about the plate politely telling this individual to get a life?

No, apparently it’s easier just to confiscate an offensive licence plate that allegedly promotes violence against women even though it doesn’t.

Perhaps Mr. Grabher might have to change his name, now that it is deemed “offensive”. I shudder to think what hardships he may now encounter when he signs his name on a cheque at the bank or gives an unwary clerk his credit card carrying his offensive moniker. Maybe he would be better off changing his name to Hitler or more appropriately in this “pc” culture to Trudeau!

Hyancinth, I agree. It would mean expensive legal fees. If Mr.Grabher goes this route and needs help paying to file a suit and argue the matter in court; let’s consider a campaign to help him with the costs.

“Maybe Mr. Grabher can appeal this decision and hopefully someone with more sense can re-issue the plate. He can offer to have a bumper sticker made that says, “Grabher is my last name!””

He should consider a lawsuit.

Very good comment from Evelyn Cooper… The fundamental problem in Nova Scotia is that jobs are hard to come by and so government jobs are very much sought after… So bureaucrats are always trying to justify their existence and inflating their “realms”… That goes from licensing bureaus to natural resources inspectors… As I have noted before, unless you have inherited your daddy’s lobster boat and license, are in the Navy, or have a union job in shipbuilding around Dartmouth/Halifax, you may be “sucking wind”… Even a job selling booze at a NSLC local store is envied…

So guess that forever negates international basketball coach Erman KUNTER from ever having a personalized license plate in Nova Scotia?… Don’t even ask…

There is only one appropriate response to obnoxious busybodies who are bothered by things like this and it involves procreation and travel.

Just imagine what would happen to the kid that has the surname Allah and wants that on a license plate.
The muslims would go bat-shit crazy!

You know, now and then, the Leader of the organization needs to be held accountable for his or her endorsement (by not rejecting) stupid behaviors of its members, especially when the actions of one silly bureaucrat can embarrass the whole organization. The third highest paid Premier in Canada should really step in and return some sensibility to his Government’s management practices (and image).

Mr. Grabher has been driving around for 25 years with this license plate without incident; and one person’s perception/interpretation can revoke his name from being used….PC bull@#%&
David Menzies, I agree, the Department of Motor Vehicles should have sent the hypersensitive, triggered individual a letter to acknowledge receiving the complaint; investigating the complaint and explaining the plate has nothing to do with misogyny, rather it’s the last name of the licensed driver – Have a nice day!
Maybe Mr. Grabher can appeal this decision and hopefully someone with more sense can re-issue the plate. He can offer to have a bumper sticker made that says, “Grabher is my last name!”

Andrew great idea , they would probably polish it for him when it gets smudged.

He should change his plate name to “FGM-Her” and see who if anyone in government gets “offended”.

Wonder how these snowflake retards would react to the Fockers? Maybe they ought to be more concerned with that Mohammad name!!! Seems like damn near everyone of those murdering, misogynistic, bloodthirsty, low-IQ jihadists use this barbaric name.
So – now there is a war on over names?! FINE bring it on!

I think this named at birth misogynist should have SEXO decals applied to his fenders and not be permitted anywhere near a playground ocean or otherwise….

Actually Canadian Mongrel….those sort of sentiments and this absurd ruling are the reason why I feel that misogyny is the clearest, most lucid, most rational thinking I have ever done. The government of Nova Scotia actually considered privatizing the registry of motor vehicules, that should tell you something.

So much for diversity. “Grabher” is an ethnic name with Germanic origins. What ever happened to “Diversity is our strength”? I guess that only goes so far and perception is everything.

I guess if Nova Scotia motor vehicles is worried about sexual double entendres, then they had better stop using the slogan, “Canada’s Ocean Playground”. It does imply beaches, and we all know what that can mean…girl watching.

Yep! We need a petition to censor that sexualized slogan.
