Navy League of Canada bans cadets from carrying drill rifles

Brian LilleyArchive

Non-firing replica rifles used for drills have now been banned.

After decades of using drill rifles, they're now forbidden.

Just another example of how our society is being wussified.

Marxists seem to have a theory that rote learning of “other things” can somehow interfere with indoctrination of young scholars. And lord knows that must be avoided at all costs.

When I was in Army Cadets, we shot Bren Guns! Full auto, on a Canadian Forces range, with full military supervision. I have heard that marksmanship is on the way out of cadets, similar to what has been done to the boy scouts…sad..I am sure that these orgs have been infiltrated by the left, just as our schools etc. have been.

I think it was accurate of Brian Lilley though to do his report in front of a CF sign. Most people don’t see the distinction between the Navy League cadets and the Sea Cadets. Also, the Nav. Leag. and the CF sponsored army, Sea and Air cadets often cooperate quite closely sometimes sharing training facilities. Besides if there were a report of the wussification of the CF sponsored cadet corps, Army, Sea and Air, I’m sure someone could find plenty of examples.

Why would you want to fight to defend any country which does not trust you with a gun?

Stuart, you are right (partly) Cadet Instructors ARE CF officers. But NAVY LEAGUE cadet corps instructors are not.
The Navy League is a separate program that is run by the Navy League of Canada and is not affiliated with the Can. Forces at all. The Can. Forces runs the Army Cadets, the Air Cadets and the Sea Cadets. But the Navy League runs the Navy League Cadets. Nav. Leag. cadet instructors hold a commission within their own organization only. But some would say they are more dedicated because, unlike CF cadet instructors Navy Leag. officers do it ALL volunteer – no pay at all.

I used to be an Army cadet instructor and quit a couple of years ago due to time restraints with my civilian job. I can certainly understand the frustration people are feeling at the wussification of our culture. Our society holds no value in anything that can be perceived as a masculine attribute.

Yep it is always best when the government can turn men into girls…hey let’s give the dolls to defend us. Or let them user pacifiers wouldn’t that look strong and manly….no wonder Canada is so far down the political correct sewer.

Wow, seriously?!? It’s the Cadet Corps ffs! Getting rid of firearms, training or otherwise is like ridding pucks from hockey because it might hit someone! Can someone drag the VP who made this decision to bear and hit her with a clue by four?

Not to mention Cadet Instructors are commissioned officers in the Canadian Armed Forces.

This is ridiculous. This bowing to politically correct concerns about appearances of being associated with “armed” forces is also hypocritical. They refer to themselves as “Navy” Cadets, they have an hierarchy with Navy ranks and positions, they wear Navy-like uniforms with distinctive unit insignia and they are taught drill and taught marksmanship. But they can’t parade with even fake rifles? This is reminiscent of the absurd, wussified abhorrence of guns in some elementary schools (as Brian has reported on) – you know, the ones who expel little Johnny for drawing a gun or pointing his finger like a pistol.

I got my first rifle (Lee Enfield 303) when I was 14 years old, along with my first hunting license and deer tag. I never shot anybody! And now military cadets, who have better access to firearms training than I ever had, can’t carry rifles, not even fake rifles? That’s why this country is in the shape it’s in, to many nincompoops running things. And, I should add, to many nincompoops running interference when the normal people try to do something sensible.

and Anonymous, no. at 6 years old they would be expelled from school if they made a “gun” gesture with their fingers … at 10 they would go to juvenile jail. If they were a cadet, they would probably face court martial… lol

Politically correct stupidity strikes again. The fall of society won’t be because of another war. It will be because of the know it all control freaks of the left. To many tokes and to much time doing nothing actually constructive will do that to a person I guess.

A nation of pacifists.

well they could always paint their fingers black and pretend it is a gun, that is what i used when i was a kid

How long before our soldier’s aren’t allowed to carry firearms, wish this was an April fools joke, but the left takes “Peace keeping” seriously
