Alberta: Anti-science NDP want safe GMO food labelled like cigarettes

Sheila Gunn ReidRebel Host | The Gunn Show

Where does your preferred candidate stand on GMOs?

Well, if your preferred candidate is NDP they stand with the activists against science and farmers.

The NDP produced a national food strategy document called “ Everybody Eats” and in this document they plan to specifically label all GMO foods. To make matters worse, the NDP has been meeting with activists and special interests groups, and not with farmers and scientists. Even some familiar NDP candidates have taken up this cause, like anti Albertan candidate Jacqui Gingras.

The NDP wants labels for perfectly safe food, proudly produced by Canadian farmers. Should it be labelled like cigarettes? I don’t think so.

I would be very happy to have GMO food labelled as such. There is no need for prejudicial comments about the subject on the labelling. Just put GMO on the product so I know and have a choice. I for one am not fully convinced that there is no problem with GMO food. I need much more factual convincing.

I’m as conservative as they come but I also like to know what has been done to my food. If GMO is so safe (although little testing has been done) what is the problem with labeling? Give us the freedom to choose what we consume. This European study show there is some liver and kidney disruption from GMO diets.

Labelling won’t scare anyone off, who is already sold. I don’t think its bad optics, and I have a right to know what I am eating. Sorry, at this point I avoid it, and want to know what I am consuming. I agree with Dan and others.
Manipulating mother nature is risky business in my opinion.

What I don’t grow, forage or hunt down, kill and eat myself, I get from local resources.
I still need stuff from the grocery store though. Since I know almost intimately what is in most of the food I harvest myself – and that’s why I go to all that trouble – I also want to know what’s in the grocery store food I have to buy. Like the ingredients and where they were made or grown.
Since the jury is still out on whether or not GM food crops are harmful to humans or not, I want to know if there are any GMO’s in the food I ingest – so I can choose to purchase and consume those products – or not. Just like I want to know if neuro-toxins like aspartame is in the milk coming up from the US, or if there is fluoride in my toothpaste.
What ever the NDP says about GMO’s…well they’re commies, and even a broken clock is right twice a day, but it’s my body and I get to say what goes into it, or not!
F**k the NDP.
GMO Labeling NOW!

See what one of the original member of Green Peace has to say about GMO’s. He is no longer in Green Peace, because they have been hijacked by communists, that work for the UN. But he is very vocal about GMO’s and how they are saving lives around the world. Do you really think the UN gives a rats butt about those who are starving in the world? These products are saving lives, and I am all for that.

I don’t have a problem with GMO products. See what the original founder of Green Peace is saying about GMO’s. These foods are saving millions of people, and I am all for that.

There has been little to no research done o. The long term effects of consuming GMO produce, I for one want to know what I might be feeding my family, I don’t believe in supporting corporations such as Monsanto. When we start manipulating Mother Nature there are usually consequences . Have you seen what a GMO corn kernel looks like? Certainly not like corn, it’s blue, it has pesticides and herbicides built in! Who wants to feed their families food that could be toxic in the long run, much like Aspartame, another example of allowing such a product on the market to find out now the effects it has on us, another poison being fed to us for the sake of Corporate profits! Have you heard of the super weeds now plaguing approx 90% of all agriculture in the U.S.? The modified seeds produced have cut the nutritional value of our food, what does this tell you? Check out your facts before dissing the NDP, I for one salute them!

This is just another tax on business, businesses that the NDP want to punish for their Marxist cause, because they hate all business.

I don’t understand your reasoning here Sheila. How can you advocate for from of speech, free market capitalism et and not support food freedom . People should be free to know what is in the food they eat and food content labelling is essential to driving a demand market. People will buy as they see fit. IF GMO as a toxic food source is junk science – let the consumer decide. If it is only a small demographic who purchase on the basis of non GMO food, the market will correct itself. I non GMO IS a sales point which uncaps an untapped market , so much the better for consumers and producers.

As for myself, personally I want to know what is in my food and where it comes from – then again I have the luxury of buying directly from small traditional producers I know, people in cities have no recourse but the labeling on their food. I think GMO labeling is just good consumer information that you can do what you want with.

The NDP don’t use facts, they base their policies on their failed ideology! They are working behind closed doors to destroy AB. And they have their eyes on Canada next, but I am betting that most thinking Canadians, will not elect Tommie the Commie and his band of idiots.

Most of Canada’s crops survive in our climate due to modifications. Our farm industry will be seriously affected. Where are the facts which show any negatiove heath effects to eating GMO foods?

Politics trumps science. Any “socialist” nation can tell you this…
commented 2015-09-29 14:22:27 -0400
Socialists hate science because it goes against their agenda which is to suck every dollar out of your pocket, the NDP should be called Now Dump Pockets.

Sounds like the NDP are in Alberta to stay. Makes sense. It cost them a lot to get here and the movement from Conservative to NDP was a slap to the Conservatives that is still smarting and will continue for a while. And, btw, They didn’t win anything as the Conservatives LOST faith with the province leaving a vacuum that sucked the NDP into power. Time will tell when this becomes the natural order of things or the Conservatives read the message.
I can only watch and hope this doesn’t ruin Alberta for the long run. And what industry does Alberta have now that the oil industry is no longer in favour? That is going to be the next great decision left to NDP to decide.

The NDP nannies don’t use logic and reason, they use emotion and idiocy, to tell everyone else what to think and do. I think the NDP should produce labels that accurately describe their failed ideology. They should have to state a warning before spewing their nanny state crap in public! I hope those who voted for these crooks, are also paying with the loss of their jobs, homes, and their futures.
