NDP foster child fiasco: NEW facts about “Baby Serenity’s torture chamber”

Sheila Gunn ReidRebel Host | The Gunn Show

Shocking new facts have come out about the home that was Baby Serenity’s torture chamber.

Serenity was 4 years old and she weighed 18 pounds when she died, as much as a one year old baby. Over a long period of time, she had been starved, beaten, sexually assaulted and killed.

But it didn't happen in Iraq and Syria where torture, sexual assault and murder of the helpless is common. It happened in Alberta, when Serenity was in kinship care, a family based foster care under the direct supervision of the Alberta government.

But there are no convictions against the people who did this to little Serenity. There aren't even charges before the courts.

Why? Because little Serenity’s file was never completely turned over to the RCMP, hindering their investigation.  The police didn’t have the information they needed from the children's services ministry. The same people charged with keeping her safe in life didn’t do enough to get her justice in death. They just forgot.

It was one of the worst things this awful government has ever done and they've done a lot. Or at least I thought it was, until yesterday.

CBC found out that 6 kids are still in the home under the care of the same people who were “looking after” little Serenity. And those 6 kids, according to witness accounts, are not being taken care of either. Two of the kids haven’t been to school since October.

I'm a fan of kinship care instead of stranger foster care with family being better than the state but never at all costs. Keeping Serenity in a home despite evidence of abuse to her simply because she was related to the people in it cost her her life.

Learning nothing from that, the NDP are insisting on doing the same thing with the next 6 kids and expecting a different result. They’ll fail those kids like they failed Serenity. The government doesn't get another chance to get this right when the cost of failure is a dead child.

Serenity was 4 when she died a horrible death. It’s been 2 years and there is still no justice for her and nothing has changed because she died.

And if they had any shame, everyone involved would resign - including Notley

Another sad day in Canadian politics. When will it end?

William, thanks for clarifying. Agreed, the civil servants (I like your name for them) in this case and others should be fired….no pensions due to abject apathy toward our most vulnerable. It’s a complete mess and I’m angry with all those people who could have done something and didn’t….it breaks my heart. The other six children need help, and they better get it!!!!

Tammie – I never said Notley’s hands were clean. The hair-splitting might be described as disentangling the truth. There was no great purge of the civil service after May 2015. This is bureaucratic machine was built by the Conservatives. The most plausible explanation as to why this couple remains in the foster care business is that we have yet another gaggle of civil serpents arriving work at 10:00, taking early lunches, and whiling away their afternoons opining about pensions and vacations. Such behaviour is the norm. Such people should be fired.

The previous government was more than likely awaiting charges by the RCMP etc….and the open file of a murdered; tortured; emaciated; sexually assaulted four year old was given to the successor. All of them are responsible. I can appreciate why some would want to split hairs re: accountability, but, Notley’s hands are not clean. A coroner’s inquest is an independent look at everything and report on who and how etc….the RCMP have botched it and I don’t have faith in them. Charges should have been laid long ago.

An entire system has failed and there needs to be an honest approach to make the health; safety and wellbeing of children the priority – no excuses !

Now we know what all of that privacy legislation has covered over. The crimes against the most vulnerable in our society. Shame on the human race for having no conscience and no morals. What happened to this child and many others is pure evil.

The timeline is being glossed. Serenity died (was killed) on September 2014. Notley assumed the premiership in May 2015. The previous administration is responsible for Serenity’s death.

True, the NDP administration’s allowing the same family to carry on as foster parents is outrageous; its culpable complicity in whatever crimes have been perpetrated since May 2015.

Nevertheless, the failure to expose the continuity of government malfeasance across the partisan divide is hackish journalism and insipid political science. Fight on SGR!

I slept very little last night. This tragic case cannot be swept under the rug, and the six children left in peril worry me greatly. I am outraged and want this to become highly publicized so Canadians can demand action & accountability from the Alberta government.

In Ontario, it falls under the coroner’s purview to call an inquest and look at all the contributing factors to a death and publicly make recommendations which the government is obliged to work with and institute best practices etc….
The band council in my opinion have also miserably failed Serenity and her foster-siblings. At every turn, there has been negligence by adults… a failure to protect & collusion to keep this away from the public eye and the fact one child has been murdered and no one has been charged is jaw dropping.
Chiefs of the First Nations must work harder to collaborate with CPS and come up with solutions which have the children at the top of the priority list and stop using the word cultural genocide when a child is placed with a non-aboriginal family. The current system needs a massive overhaul, and it is my hope any new laws and initiatives will by known as Serenity’s Law.
I support looking for kin who can foster ,provided the kin are not abusive themselves or endangering the children with reckless behavior and neglect due to substance abuse. If there are no suitable family members who fit the bill, then CPS and band council must agree to work together without haste and provide the children a safe, nurturing and healthy home to move to. A home where there has been an in-depth Home Study done & regular inspections taking place; and CPS workers actually spending time with the children to find out how they are doing, are there concerns…. caring supervision. If an intervention is required, don’t post-pone it!

It is time the FN start taking some responsibility. This dancing around on the part of the government has got to stop. I am disgusted beyond words.

( Read my statement below first )
Another reason for the current situation that I failed to mention below is that if the foster parents
( relatives) were publicly prosecuted the result would be the slamming of doors on the reserve with no one willing to take in a child for fear that they would be publicly held responsible . This would result in the return to placing the vulnerable child in an off reserve home and the recommencement of screams of cultural genocide . THAT is why the government and media are unwilling to divulge the truth about this sad state of affairs.

I think I have the tears stemmed enough to see the key board.

When I thought the NDP could not possibly be worse, they reach the lowest of the low. These people will do nothing, because they protect their union buddies. That is more important than the lives of children, or children’s deaths by torture.

Two children missing out of a home where a suspicious death of a child occurred, and the Premier says they are monitoring the situation? The children would have been better off with their parents, even if they may be in prison, than reliant on these evil ideologues.

Evil. Pure Evil.

What is absolutely maddening about this is the fact the little Serenity was a First Nations child and the foster home was on the reserve where she lived. The constant media dirge about ’ government failure to protect’ is incredibly disingenuous because it fails to mention that all the children that ’ died ‘in government care’ were all living on the reserve where they were from and were taken from an abusive environment and placed in usually with relatives , sadly in many cases just a slightly less abusive environment. Why does this happen ? In years past First Nations children were taken from abusive homes and placed with the best family available, in many cases a white family. They would be raised in a loving nurturing environment for several years and then the biological mother or father would sober up and demand the tribal council help them get the child back . Screams of ’ cultural genocide’ would rein down on the government and they would acquiesce to the demands supported by pandering university dolts and others. The child would be removed from the white family causing heartache for both the white family and the child and placed back on the reserve.
In order to stop this from happening again and again the government , with the insistence of FN social services and councils started placing vulnerable children with other family members or neighbours .
THAT is why you never hear where the victimized child was living . Reread all past articles about foster children dying and see if you can understand what town or where they were living . Chances are you won’t see it in print.
From the government’s perspective protecting the status quo and deflecting any responsibility from FN authorities is far more important than ensuring justice for the murdered children.

Cover up equals conspiracy because you need at least two people.!!
I thought conspiracy to commit crime was an indictable offense for something like 5 to 7 years.!!

More fuel against the NDP in the next election.!!

This makes me really mad. Remember Albertans, remember Canadians, when you see the fake smiles of Notley and Trudeau, this is what these hateful people are bringing in, this is the horror that these despicables really stand for.

Glenn Craig, I’m reeling.

Politicizing in lieu of the health; safety & welfare of our most vulnerable citizens is beyond criminal; it’s evil. This needs to stop and heads should roll!

After my original post, it occurred to me the school system wasn’t mentioned. There is a procedure to report absenteeism, did CPS and police ignore reports by school Administrators as well? There has been a concerted effort to cover this up, widespread collusion among criminals.

It would be interesting to know the names of the Persons running this Foster Home or their ethnic origins. This child had been sexually assaulted and we all know who’s favorite pastime this is.

Notley intends to send six more potential victims to this establishment. The definition of insanity is, ‘Doing the same thing over and over again and expecting it to work’

This says a lot about the Notley Crew who misrule Alberta.

@TAMMIE PUTINSKI-ZANDBELT…here it is in a nutshell. Child protection agencies started out in the 1800s as being bone fide agencies of a child’s best interests, and while we all make mistakes rough fair they did a good job.

Then along came the cancer called feminism…and feminism commandeered CPS for an anti- male anti-family agenda. They also became punitive deterrence to political dissent. They now also have quota funding incentives to be less than objective. I have even had to distance myself from my grandchildren so as not to give my political enemies an opportunity to use them as hostages.

The RCMP does not dare cut the grass of CPS….they have children too you know.

Just reading this makes me cry! The wrath of God will be too good for these perverted pigs. The fact that Notley’s government is pushing perversion on little children, explains why she won’t lift a finger to help the others. She and her government of lunatics, have the blood of this little girl on their hands. It sickens me that we are paying her to govern AB, when all she’s doing is carrying on with her radical activism, like the immature teenager that she is. RIP Serenity! Your name does not reflect the short horror story of your life. And the fact that our government covered this up, is disgusting beyond measure. You are in a much better place now, and one day there will be real justice! May God keep you safe for eternity!

Sheila, you’ve filed many horrendous reports on how the NDP is destroying the province of Alberta. Those reports have highlighted socialist/Marxist philosophy over reality and common sense, they’ve highlighted the bungling incompetence of ministers who aren’t qualified for their portfolios, they’ve highlighted secretive under-handed collusion with left-wing and green NGOs, But this is by far the worst. This is evil and Satanic. All the ministers/MLAs and bureaucrats who were responsible for the decision, the execution and the cover-up , including Rachel Notely should be investigated and, if there is sufficient evidence, criminally charged and prosecuted. God save those poor children.
commented 2017-05-10 18:32:46 -0400
Sheila Gunn-Reid, this report has absolutely sickened me; I am shocked the agency and the Ministry tasked with the safety and security of children is doing nothing re: justice for Serenity or the other 6 children in the home who are at great risk. I hope the people of Alberta fight for this murdered child and her foster siblings; demand dismissals; and push for an inquiry. Why didn’t the RCMP obtain a warrant for the records and the evidence being withheld? Notley, her Minister and employees who have shirked their responsibilities & contributed to the tragic death of an innocent child should be held accountable without delay. Thank you for bringing this to light.
