The NDP MLA for Red Deer-South has a serious caffeine addiction. Barb Miller spent $4,868.50 on coffee pods in one quarter alone. Three months! It was right there in her online expense filings for anyone to find.
I did the math. Whoever is ordering the enormous amounts of coffee in Miller's office paid roughly $8 per 12 pod box, meaning they bought 7,300 individual coffee pods. Over a three month period, that amounts to 81 coffees per day, each and every day, even on days the office is closed.
If you care about environmentalism as the NDP claims they do, those little coffee pods are filling up landfills faster than disposable diapers. In fact, by 2014, there were enough coffee pods in landfills to circle the earth ten and a half times.
Is Barb Miller running a black market Tim Hortons? Or does she just go through life whacked out, jittery and sleepless? I’d love for someone to explain the trend that, if continued, would see her spend nearly $20,000 annually on coffee.
If the NDP can't manage something as small as the coffee pod budget in their offices, they shouldn't be in charge of something as large the provincial budget.
