NDP “quietly” change rules that safeguard Alberta’s $90B nest egg: What could go wrong?

Sheila Gunn ReidRebel Host | The Gunn Show

What if I told you a barista, a student or even Jane Fonda could be appointed to the board of a company that oversees $90 billion in investments that belong to all Albertans, including the $18 billion currently in the Heritage Savings Trust Fund?

You’d tell me I was out of my mind because there are obviously a bunch of rules in place to prevent that sort of thing from happening.

Well, there used to be.

The NDP repealed those rules in their entirety.

The NDP quietly removed the section of a law that protects Albertans from political meddling and sheer incompetence on the board of an arm’s length crown corporation called the Alberta Investment Management Corporation, or AIMCo for short.

Now any SJW, anti-Alberta environmentalist or NDP crony can sit on the board of AIMCo and oversee the management of $90B in assets owned by all of us.

Social workers, Marxists and baristas in charge of Alberta's nest egg, handing it out to every Solyndra type that comes to them with their green hat in hand.

What could possibly go wrong?

PETER NETTERVILLE – The 30th general election of Alberta WILL take place on or before May 31, 2019, following a request by Premier Rachel Notley to the Lieutenant Governor of Alberta to dissolve the legislature. The election may occur BEFORE the required date.

The Election Act fixes the election to a three-month period, between March 1 and May 31 in the fourth calendar year after the preceding election day which in this case was May 5, 2015. However, this does not affect the powers of the Lieutenant Governor to dissolve the Legislature BEFORE this period.

Qualifications 5: the NDP does not have any of these people so that little paragraph had to go. The mere mention of ‘NDP’ and ‘Heritage Fund’ in the same sentence, let alone the fact the NDP has its mitts on the fund, causes shortness of breath.

Space Moose – it would appear that you do not have a grasp on what the lady is saying.

Space Moose,

I do not think Ms. G-R hates front line social workers. She is just pointing out that social work does not qualify a person to be finance minister, nor in charge of major financial assets.

It is the same way that one does not hate front line PEd teachers but can point out that is not qualification enough to be energy minister, visible or invisible.

@ James Scott

My “feeling” is that the NDP will be decimated next election. But just how much of that is based on desperate hope, I cannot tell. I am fairly certain that Notley will push the election off for one extra year until 2020.

The one riding near the UofA that has been NDP for a long time will probably remain NDP, but the rural ridings will remain or once again go Conservative. Probably most of Calgary will go back to Conservative. So Edmonton is the only real unknown variable. At least that is my take on what will happen.

Why does Sheila hate social workers so much? I don’t think she would appreciate journalists bashing farmers.

Oh Yay! I wonder how many magic beans they will buy?

Is there anything left in Alberta for Notley to destroy?

Believe it or not, spring in Alberta will come, again… But what what will it take to get enough Albertans off the pot, and more than just muttering to themselves, to do a serious demonstration at the Legislature?…

Hmm. No demonstrable experience necessary. I know I’m jaded but I suspect that exactly those types are about to be placed in power. Again.

How do you guys stay on top of these guys?
My Lord.
2 yrs. and about 3 mos. to go.
It can’t come soon enough.
@peter N., I hope the NDP gets beat so bad they don’t have enough MLA’s to fill a Tesla.

If laws can be that easily changed by a evil hearted premier, there is something really wrong.

When election time comes around in May 2020 will there be any Alberta left?

Notley is doing her best to rape and destroy Alberta in her allotted time.
commented 2017-02-28 19:52:51 -0500
Surprised Notley didn’t do this earlier. More evidence that she has given up on being re-elected. This just means Alberta now has a $90 billion reward/slush fund for NDP cronies, globalist interests, and “green” investments, and it will all be spent before she leaves office in 2020.
I feel sorry for you Albertans…
Ontarians…
…actually all Canadians suffering under Our Dear Leader and his minions Notley and Wynne.

First, I am surprised that we still have the $90B, but I guess there was that pesky act in the way.

Second, I do not see how the Non-Democratic Party can amend an act of the Legislature by order in council, and not by a vote of the legislature. Seems that this can be open to a court challenge, which they hoped to avoid by doing it covertly. Then that pesky Ms. Gunn-Reid had to publicize their corruption.

Third, clearly the upper echelons of the Non-Democrats are clearing the way to leave government in 2020 with a decent nest-egg. Except I still predict Notley will leave in 2019 to claim both nest-egg and Order of Canada, leaving some poor Shmuck to lead to the electoral disaster.

I hate them! (Hope that is not a crime, seeing as they are not Muslim). Saw Notley on a TV interview today, she looks HORRIBLE, I think the stress is really getting to her. She KNOWS we all hate what she is doing to Alberta.

THESE COMUNISTS WILL NOT STOP UNTIL ALBERTA IS BANKRUPT.
IS THERE NOT 25 ALBERTAN CANADIANS IN THE NDP HOUSE THAT WILL STOP RECHAL FROM DESTORING ALBERTA .
OH BY THE WAY HAVE THEY SIGNED UP SOME WATER BOMBERS LATELY?

Greed and theft know no bounds when it comes to NDP government corruption. They will bleed AB dry because they are Marxist whores.
