New California Law: Calling Transgendered People Wrong Pronoun Can Result in Jail Time

Kristin TateRebel Buzz Contributor

Just when we thought liberal California couldn't get any more outrageous...

A new law signed by California Gov. Jerry Brown last week states that health care workers who choose not to address transgender patients by their preferred pronouns could face fines or jail time.

The bill, which was signed into law Wednesday, is designed to protect transgender and LGBT individuals in hospitals, assisted living facilities, long-term care facilities, and retirement homes from discrimination and ensure their needs are met, such as letting them use the bathroom of their preferred gender.

“It shall be unlawful for a long-term care facility or facility staff to take any of the following actions wholly or partially on the basis of a person’s actual or perceived sexual orientation, gender identity, gender expression, or human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) status,” the bill reads.

The law states that health care workers who “willfully and repeatedly” fail to address transgender people by their “preferred name or pronouns” if they were “clearly informed of the preferred name or pronouns” would be in violation of the law.

According to the newly-signed law, violators could be punished with a fine “not to exceed one thousand dollars,” sent to prison “in the county jail for a period not to exceed one year,” or both.

Apparently, liberals no longer believe in free speech. How can you claim to be a champion of the First Amendment, but then use government force to compel people to use certain pronouns? Perhaps an even better question: how will this law even be enforced? Will the state of California create a language police force?

With the way things have been going in the state, that actually wouldn't be a surprise.

Hardworking California citizens have recently been subjected to a barrage of left-wing legislation intended to create an atmosphere of "inclusion." Gov. Brown recently declared California a "sanctuary state," putting itself at odds with federal law.

Because, you know, as long as everyone feels included and accepted, that's all that matters...

From now on, you’ll address me as “My Lord”, because I have a distorted sense of grandeur dysphoria. Otherwise, to the Human Rights Tribunal I go, whistling all the way. The stupidity of what’s going on is so surreal, you just can’t make this stuff up. SMH

I thought that California under that lefty-flake Brown was going to secede from the Union after Donald Trump was elected President?
I guess it’s like all those lefty ‘celebrities’ who threatened to leave America after Donald Trump was elected President – and didn’t.
So leave already.
Fall into the ocean during the next BIG One.
Let Mexico have their Reconquista.
Let the White Flight collapse your economy and go bankrupt.
Don’t go away mad.
Just go away, you bunch o’ weirdos.

Gender Dysphoria. Mental Illness. Hello!

… Another temporary victory for the demented Left- furthering their anti-life, anti-family agenda.
… There is no such thing as “transgender” people. There are only those who are wildly confused, and who have wandered well off the path of life.

Likely outcome of Bill C-16’s passage in Canada.
