Conservative Party “has lost its nerve,” this time caving to left-wing mob on global warming

Rebel Staff

I saw the most curious Tweet on Saturday morning.

It’s by Lisa Raitt, the deputy leader of the Conservative Party, and also the party’s Justice Critics. So, she's number two after party leader Andrew Scheer.

It said:

Well I’ve learned my lesson in tweeting anything about climate change. I’m going to be transparent & let you know I’m deleting the earlier tweets. I’m not the one to fight with on this because like most I believe that emissions cause climate change and we should reduce emissions

Over 1,200 people replied to this tweet. A few hundred retweeted it, and nearly 2,000 liked it. It got a lot of attention.

But so did her original tweets, the ones she clearly felt pressure into deleting.

What were they about?

Well, Raitt had tweeted a few mild statements about climate change, like this one:

“Bottom line is there’s no solid connection between climate change and the major indicators or extreme weather, despite Trudeau’s claims to the contrary. The continual claim of such a link is misinformation employed for political and rhetorical purposes”

Obviously that’s true. How could that not be true? Trudeau and Catherine McKenna literally blame fires that were caused by arson on global warming, to cite just one example.

And we know that average people in both Canada and the U.S. simply don’t care about global warming. Even Liberal MPS in Ontario say no-one cares, and they’re begging McKenna to give it a rest — they say the economy and immigration are the top two issues among voters they've spoken to.

So climate change would seem to be a great issue for the Conservatives. Sure, no global warming fanatic would ever consider voting Tory, so why not irritate them — and at the same time, win over the countless Canadians who either don’t care, or are actually sick of these jet-setting liars telling us how much they care about carbon?

How about speaking out with some courage? It worked for Doug Ford, and it just worked in Australia.

But my point is, whenever you blink like the deputy leader of the Conservatives did, whenever you give something away to your opponents — and renounce yourself, and everyone who is on your team and who hasn’t caved in yet — you demoralize your base.

And you thrill your opponents, as we saw from the reactions to Raitt's tweets.

Lisa Raitt says she’s "learned her lesson." How many times will that capitulation be used in campaign ads in the upcoming federal election?

This is no a way to win an election.

But really, this is no different than the Conservative Party losing their nerve on a half dozen other issues, including free speech, which they no longer seem to concerned about based on their conduct these past two weeks.

And all of this losing, all of this surrendering, before the election campaign even begins...

NEXT: Did you see the massive rally in Hong Kong over the weekend? Tonight, Gordon Chang (author of The Coming Collapse of China) one of the world's leading experts on China, joins me to talk about the state of Hong Kong's relationship with China.

I have been sitting on the fence for a while, but Lisa Raitt has finally convinced me. Today I signed up with the PPC. Bernier sounds like he still has a brain and can stand up to the Liberals.

…or is it possible, Lisa Raitt’s Tweets were parody and sarcasm?

Maybe it is time that a good house cleaning be in order and have red Tories step down and leave the party.

Lisa Raitt : You are a bastard style conservative.
Andy Pansy Scheer : You are the epitome of the bastard style conservative.
Bastard….as in the dictionary description stating : Spurious….not genuine….fake.
Few things are as repulsive as a political whore. You are going to new lengths to to ensure that “When I looked up Political Whore in the dictionary…..there was your photo…”

Why would anyone be surprised that the Conservatives are giving in to leftists?
If you don’t vote for the PPC, you are just voting for the socialist status quo.

I don’t get it. Scheer had Trudeau by the nards.
The left is badly divided 3-ways while a strong “conservative” CPC would nullify the PPC and win a majority. Now it looks like Scheer’s acquiescence to leftist narratives means abandoning blue Tories who will have no choice but to vote PPC, splitting the right, and likely resulting in another Trudeau majority, or a leftist coalition at the very least.
I didn’t put Scheer or Raitt on my CPC ballot because I figured they were Liberals in CPC clothing. Seems I was right.

- There’s an old saying “An army of sheep led by a lion is better than an army of lions led by a sheep” The CPC seem to be becoming an army of sheep led by a sheep.

- China’s economic “miracle” occurred when they got Hong Kong. They set up “free market” zones & that caused them to boom for a time. Socialists, however, can’t resist destroying everything they touch. They want one country two systems in name only. They need to control everything & central planning kills economies (& people.)

If Global warming is still happening, Eastern ON must be the only part of the World that is experiencing much longer Winters with normal temperatures. Therefore getting colder.
Climate Change is real… It has been happening since there has been an atmosphere around the planet.

We almost have to take a 180• turn. Instead of holding them off we have to infiltrate. Just like they’re doing to us. We’re exposed and targets

I was ready to support Scheer and PCs but now I am totally disappointed with them.
No courage or guts. They need a lesson from Trump.

Lisa Raitt…where to start.
She portrayed herself as the quintessential public servant during the CPC leadership debates. She’d go along with whatever everyone else was saying and then attack Maxime Bernier and Kellie Leitch.
Now she favours attacking Maxime Bernier on PowerPlay and acts like the big, tough 2nd in command feminist who dictates to Scheer.
She’s an amateur.
She wears the pants in that party so that tells you what the party is really thinking.

Stephen Mosher is also someone to follow on the China issue.

What a dichotomy between the weak-kneed Conservatives and the bold people of Hong Kong! If only we Canadians had the guts to stand up against all of our political class and tell them to put up or get out. And as I told Shannon Stubbs, we need a leader with the courage of a Clint Eastwood rathern Mr. Rogers. Sheer reminds me of Mr Rogers because he wants to make nice with everybody. That doesn’t work in politics. It doesn’t even work in sports.

“Conservative Party “has lost its nerve,” this time caving to left-wing mob on global warming”

Reminder of 2 events swept under the rug – 1. Liberal Leona Alleslev crossed the floor and was immediately given the post of global security critic along with Scheer’s corresponding invite to all Liberals who want to cross the floor would be welcomed with open arms and – 2. Maxime Bernier left the party (some members also tore up their memberships). This is no longer the party that Harper led. This party has not been the “Conservative Party of Canada” for some time now but rather it is the “Conservative In Name Only Party of Canada”. Time for them to rebrand the party to a more suitable name, Liberal Lite Party of Canada is more accurate.

Just say what you have to win the election, then you can do whatever you w. Don’t apologize

I’ve never liked Andrew Scheer. He is too wishy washy and lukewarm on many of the issues Canadians care most about. His last stunt with his conservative MP Michael Cooper just proved my gut is right about him.

I knew I was right to never vote for these backstabbing crawling cowards again.

Conservatives have turned into a pathetic bunch of pandering fools, they might as well just merge the liberals with the conservatives for one big globalist party. The conservatives have failed Canadians time and time again and have allowed Trudeau to get a way with murder,it’s sickening.

Gosh, darn. Raitt is the MP for Milton, Ontario. Milton is on the 401, relatively close to Toronto. Of course she will ultimately be loyal to the policies of the Laurentian Empire.
