The Calgary Stampede is billed as The Greatest Show on Earth but the city’s mayor found more important things to do during the annual event.
The Stampede brings in 1.2 million visitors during its 10 day run in July, with an additional 1.2 million people visiting Calgary for Stampede-related activities the rest of the year,
This massive professional rodeo brings in $4 million in much needed economic activity for the city annually. However, Mayor Naheed Nenshi wasn’t in his white hat and boots this July.
Instead, Mayor Nenshi chose to go to a Rockefeller Foundation’s Resilient Cities Conference that he snuck away to attend in secret, with even those closest to him kept in the dark about his whereabouts.
This anti-Canadian-oil “charity” hosted Nenshi and hundreds of other municipal leaders from around the world, thousands of kilometers away in the Netherlands.
Joining me tonight to discuss this scandal and even more municipal missteps is someone with a very close eye on the mayor, William McBeath from Save Calgary.
