Putin’s state broadcaster joins Trudeau's CBC in mocking North American ethical oil

Rebel Staff

I came across something on Twitter, just a random liberal journalist, one of thousands, pumping out anything anti-Trump, anything cynical:

actual Trump admin quote: "Increasing export capacity from the Freeport [liquid natural gas] project is critical to spreading freedom gas”

It linked to this article in a left-wing website owned by the Washington Post, called Slate Magazine:

The Department of Energy Is Now Calling Fossil Fuels “Molecules of Freedom” and “Freedom Gas”

From now on this is known as a “freedom flame.” (It’s actually a natural gas flare in New Mexico.)

The Trump administration loves fossil fuels, but apparently has decided that they need some rebranding. Or so E&E News editor Ellen Gilmer discovered Tuesday when she opened up what should have been the world’s driest press release.

Yeah, I guess anything real — oil, gas, tankers exports, real life — is dry to people who prefer doing journalism like the top ten moments where Game of Thrones was just like real life...

They link to the actual government press release. I’m going to read a paragraph, the one they mocked. I liked it actually:

Approval of additional [liquified natural gas] LNG exports from Freeport LNG furthers this Administration’s commitment to promoting American energy, American jobs, and the American economy. Further, increased supplies of U.S. natural gas on the world market are critical to advancing clean energy and the energy security of our allies around the globe. With the U.S. in another year of record-setting natural gas production, I am pleased that the Department of Energy is doing what it can to promote an efficient regulatory system that allows for molecules of U.S. freedom to be exported to the world,” said Assistant Secretary for Fossil Energy Steven Winberg, who signed the export order and was also in attendance at the Clean Energy Ministerial.

So that’s hilarious, I guess?

But it really is clean, if you care about carbon, which I don’t really. Gas from America is cleaner, morally, than gas from Russia or OPEC. You could say it’s like ethical oil. They say "freedom gas". Same thing.

This is huge news, actually. America is now a net energy exporter.

Now, you might be wondering — why am I telling you about all this stupidity? Well, because, at the same time as the Washington Post’s Slate was bashing the hilarious concept of "freedom gas", Russia Today, one of Putin’s state broadcasters, tweeted this:

Introducing FREEDOM GAS™ - the latest in American ingenuity from the U.S. Department of Energy.

And it came with a video, which was pretty funny. They thought so too:

How's THAT for true American genius, @realDonaldTrump????

The video is just mocking American things, like beautiful women shooting guns in bikinis. That’s not my style. But it is a lot of freedom, isn’t it?

No women in bikinis allowed to go out in public in Iran or Qatar or other OPEC countries, are they? Certainly not allowed to shoot guns — they’re not even allowed to drive in Saudi Arabia.

So, yeah, America has its excesses.

But tell me which country’ you’d rather be in as a woman?

NEXT: A theatre in Washington, DC has "backed out" of staging a new play called FBI Lovebirds by author and filmmaker Phelim McAleer.

Tonight he joins me to talk about what happened.

Andrew, I was around when the word “ecology” first entered common vernacular. I met this fellow in Halifax who was my age , 19 at the time, he had been home schooled by his two university professor parents (a very unusual thing at the time)…he was a musical prodigy…his dad was the first professor of ecology in Canada (the family was from California).

I was an ardent supporter of the idea of ecology…not that many years before my chilhood playground, the woods where the Saint Patrick’s Boy’s Home had previously stood got clear cut to make way for the Halifax Shopping Centre …me and my squad of juvenile delinquent partizan resistance guerillas sabotaged the heavy equipment desecrating our sacred ground…our zeal was forgotten when we hit puberty and started mall crawling and cruising for girls at that shopping center.

But we had REAL polution problems at the time….the lakes and ponds in Nova Scotia were crystal clear….not from pristine purity…their natural state was tea brown…acid rain had made them lifeless. I fell off a warf in Oakville Ontario but was unhurt because the rocks below had a gym mat five inches thick of dead algae bloom from the phosphates in the detergents going in to Lake Ontario….there wasn’t one green leaf to be seen for as far as the eye could see in Sudbury …..I worked in the industrial part of Hamilton…

Andrew, to suggest that I am in any way cavalier about ecology just isn’t fair or right, it just seems to come in the package of political maligning I have to put up with for being a cis gendered white male….and for not partaking of that …eucarist….that would have made me one of the girls….and part of the cult of Gaia the man hating earth goddess.

Ecology has become the itch that just gets worse the more you scratch it and the unattainable benchmark of salvation from the perspective of a quasi-religious cult with political ambition.

Nothing would please me more than to freely migrate to someplace warm when it gets cold….those who would punish me for huddling near a heat source are ASSHOLES…and they are my avowed enemies….screw Gaia…and her bleach blond valley girl Kardasian wannabee high priestess…..I look forward to her defeat in October….when it starts getting cold again… it always has every other year…and it always will long after you and I are forgotten.

The greenwashing is amusing. Freedom gas, indeed. Reminds me of “Freedom fries” when the Yanks were upset with France over not wanting to help in their war on AfghanIraq.

Same with “ethical oil”. Ecologically speaking, it doesn’t exist, and “ethical oil” has no place in either left wing eco-politics, nor in right-wing free markets. There’s a reason that CAPP is the only group still using it.

““Trudeau and Liberals Sink to NEW LOW in Polls as Canada Turns to the Right!!!” (Dr. Steve Turley)”

Canada’s turning to the left? That’s why Scheer consistently polls 5% lower than Harper did, and why the disaffected Liberals are migrating to the Greens over the CPC by a 2:1 ratio?

Well said Ron Joseph.
But there is no price on freedom. To the communist there is.
We can always discuss this Freedom when Trudeau shuts down The Rebel. Oh No, Trudeau took away our freedom and all discussion.

Ron Joseph,
Excellent comment. However, there are some other things to think about with Russia’s national debt.
I agree that there is more to Russia’s debt than meets the eye, however we have to use the numbers at hand, which is shown in most places to be 500 Billion.
" Russia is the 9th least indebted country in the world." 500 Billion seems high, but Canada’s Federal Gov’t is now 690 Billion; it has gone up 187 Billion under Trudeau.

Along with that, Ontario and Quebec share another 600 Billion, with BC ‘s NDP starting to pile it on with out of control spending. Lets add a conservative 200 Billion for the other 8 Provinces, for Canada’s total debt of 1 trillion, 400 Billion compared to a Country 4 times the the population only owing around 500 Billion.

Karen, I guess what matters is which way a Country is heading regarding debt, and many are worried about Canada’s out of control spending habits.

Look, I understand you want to stick it to the left. Really, I do. But, come on. “Molecules of freedom” is ridiculous hyperbole and it’s funny. So is “Freedom gas”. It’s like a fart joke. You can analyze this until you’re blue in the face. And you may make a lot of good points from an intellectual perspective. From a comedic point of view, though, yeah, they’re right. Molecules of freedom. Freedom gas. It’s absurdly funny. Fight the left on something else. They’re right about this one.

“Honestly, everybody hates the new Conservative face of Scheer.”

The CINOs in the party like him plus don’t forget the Liberal floor crossers that joined the party. Under Scheer the party will continue its slide left. What can be stated is that he is better than Trudeau. Trudeau is so far left that he and his party are in stiff competition with the Dippers for policies and resulting votes. With Trudeau as their leader that comes as no surprise considering Pierre was a Dipper before crossing the floor to join the Liberals.
“… [Pierre] Trudeau, in other words, was still working for Communism. He had become a Liberal simply because the Liberals could win and the N.D.P. couldn’t. He was frankly using the Liberal Party, in accordance with the Maoist tactics he so admires. …”

- LOL, creative use of the Bevis & Butthead clip. Russia is trying to win back some of its past cred. They learned in the Soviet days that millions of dollars in bribes can buy billions of dollars in impact. One of the ways they do that today is through NGOs.

- The left want to erase history so they can rewrite it. They know the events covered in FBI Lovebirds happened. They want to erase all record of it.

Ron Joseph,
Excellent comment. However, there are some other things to think about with Russia’s national debt.
Small gov’t, big gov’t share holders that claim to be private. Good luck tallying their debt.
Notely was wiped out by Kenney. Justin Trudeau will be out with his garbage burning hydro energy soon enough.
I’m not against burning garbage for fuel, but I wonder the cost and how clean it is.
A country is allowed to make mistakes if everybody has the right to participate. That’s non existent in Russia.
What is the value of that?
Honestly, everybody hates the new Conservative face of Scheer.
Join the party and make some noise.
I found with Conservatives, the upper party keep things close to their breast but that can be any party. Just be open about your intentions and stick with it. Motivate people with your passion and if you loose, you loose.
Get political, not grumpy and uselessly complain.

Smilin’ Andy may be onto something with his talk of a Canadian energy corridor and Canadian energy independence.

The UK has long been reliant on Russia for much of it’s gas supply. WIth American companies now exporting, the UK is a logical customer. Both will win.
It makes sense for Canada too. An oversupply of gas in America means less demand for Canadian exports to America. Less demand translates into lower netbacks for Canadian producers.

Yes Ezra, that Senior Gazprom Executive is a real loser for trying to push his product with his amateur singing voice and joining the Company’s Soccer team in order to get involved with his employees. Canada’s Oil Executives are only famous for selling out their shareholders and making back-room deals with Notley.
Alberta was so much more sophisticated by putting Notley in charge and either putting the oil and gas workers on unemployment Insurance or forcing them to go to Texas for a job.

Then we have Putin, another tyrant trying to sell the world his Country’s Oil and Gas instead of them buying the US products.
Wouldn’t it be great if Canada had a Leader like Putin actually pushing his resources instead of Trudeau shutting down numerous pipelines and banning tankers on the North West Coast that carry Alberta products. Then he buys Saudi and US Oil when he has 2 Provinces full of it.

I see now how Russia has paid off their DEBT while Trudeau can’t go a day without borrowing money, this time so he can bribe the Media. Does Putin do that ?

Like America, Putin has women shooting guns wearing short skirts," his Army."

“Putin’s state broadcaster joins Trudeau’s CBC in mocking North American ethical oil”

Wait a minute the Liberals announced that they fears Russian interference in the upcoming election yet low and behold the opposite holds true, looks like the Liberals are in collusion with the Russians. Rather amusing to say the least lol.

Actually Ezra, you sound very good in Rushian!
Re last night’s comment about TheRebel: an alternative problem from referencing TheRebel is that these offices are keeping notes on the ‘influence’ TheRebel is having on their constituents simply to use against TheRebel. They’re more concerned about what TheRebel is saying [about them] than the issue you are addressing. I wouldn’t give them more ammunition to use against TheRebel.
I wouldn’t trust anyone….

If the left wins the battle of “leave it in the ground” it is us in Canada who will become the refugees…oh you could say climate change and point to us as the very poster child…

I have previuosly suggested that we make the middle eastern oil sates leave theirs in the ground and use our own…for benefits that really don’t need any long drawn out justification…

The lefties shrug and sigh and shake their heads…I just don’t get it….the green alternatives like electric cars are but a matter of weeks away….

I propose a RULE…a…… JUST AND REASONABLE …and EASILY UNDERSTOOD …guideline….

If parts of the earth are to fall under a “leave it in the ground” edict…then by any and all…argueable points and measures of justice….

The parts of the earth that have snow fall upon them have a natural law disadvantage preference over the parts of the earth which NEVER have snow fall upon them….and are thereby in a position to take undue advantage…..

Good show tonight, Ezra. We need to hashtag #FreedomGass as much as we can. We also must hashtag #ConflictOil to show people the contrast between the two. If enough of us do this, it’s going to make the left even more insane than they are already.

Russia is only the “2nd World”. That’s somewhere between “1st World” prosperity and “3rd World” poverty. But, I guess they’re entitled to their opinion, even though it maybe wonky.
