NFL Caves, Gives Players $89M for 'Social Justice' Initiative

Rebel Staff

Over the past few months, NFL players with many different teams, have been taking a knee during the National Anthem, ostensibly to protest against racial inequality and against Donald Trump.

Americans have made it clear that they do not like seeing the anthem disrespected by boycotting the NFL, causing television ratings to plummet. Despite this, the NFL has been too afraid of being "politically incorrect" to put a stop to these anthem protests.

On Wednesday, the NFL once again submitted to the anthem-kneeling players in a ridiculous way:

The NFL and a group of players reached an agreement in principle late Wednesday night to partner on a plan to address social justice issues considered important to African-American communities, sources told ESPN.

The unprecedented agreement calls for the league to contribute $89 million over seven years to projects dealing with criminal justice reform, law enforcement/community relations and education.

The agreement does not include language calling for players to end protests during the national anthem in exchange for funds; there's no implicit quid pro quo. But the NFL hopes this effort will effectively end the peaceful yet controversial movement that former San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick started in 2016, when he refused to stand for the anthem.

So the NFL players just encouraged these anthem-kneeling players by literally handing them $89 million with absolutely no guarantee that they will get anything in return.

This just shows the utter lack of logic that the left's politically correct obsession has inflicted on the United States. The NFL owners, most of whom are white, are so afraid of being labelled "racist" for disagreeing with the protesting players that they agreed to a ridiculous deal that may not yield a positive outcome.

With ratings steadily in decline and the NFL drastically losing money, the only logical deal for the owners would be one ensuring that the players stop protesting. Americans are rightfully offended by these national anthem protests because kneeling during this song is effectively telling members of the military and law enforcement that the sacrifices they made for the American flag do not matter. It's time for the NFL owners to put a stop to this nonsense, not throw money at the problem.

I personally don’t care what the NFL players or owners do or don’t do. I stopped watching the NFL 3 + months ago and my quality of life has improved. I urge everyone to do the same, you’ll thank me later.

Like everything else, the NFL has a bureaucracy and it is filled with liberals who haven’t got a clue about their fan base.
Sports used to be an escape from all this racist rancor but no more.Ive given up on them and I think a lot of advertisers have too.

What’s going to be interesting is seeing what “brain trust” is going to be assembled to distribute these millions… Given the “personal problems” history from many of these “take a knee” justice warriors…

Not once have I ever demanded my employer finance causes I believe in….most of us accept the fact we use after tax income to donate to the causes we support.

What a load of crap NFL!

Football fans are walking away from this league week after week, no longer buying merchandise and are using their wallets to give nfl the finger. I predict college football, which is already very popular, will see a surge of former nfl fans support them instead.

Looks like they have a case of blindness to their problem……they probably won’t figure it out until the bank account gets low and people stop going to their games………you can not disrespect the people who buy your product and expect them to be ok with it…… need the advertisers ……they don’t need you…….and l won’t buy products that support this kind of nonsense…..

One must assume that the people who get themselves into these corporate positions to make these kinds of decisions have to have something going for them, in order to get in that position.
So what the heck is it that is so powerful, overwhelming and terrifying as to make these people quake, tremble and cave in – every time!?
‘Being labelled racist for disagreeing’, doesn’t seem like enough…

The NFL is not giving $89M to these projects, the people paying for tickets are giving $89M of their own money. Let’s see how many will stop buying tickets.

The NFL will learn the hard lesson that you cannot just appease without encouraging, i am fine with the NFL giving money for a good cause but this money may go to some whackjobs as well. And the players need to clean up their own act before they point there damn fingers at others. If you protest racism then you must protest it when it comes from any color , even your own. You cannot cherry pick while protesting cherry picking.
