Nick Gillespie: Today’s universities are “constipated and stultified”

Claire LehmannAustralian Contributor

Threats to free speech are everywhere in the Western world but it’s particularly disturbing and “grotesque” to find them at the university according to Reason Editor in Chief Nick Gillespie.

LANGUAGE WARNING:

Have we completely lost touch with why freedom of expression and freedom of inquiry were so important?

Watch as we discuss the state of freedom of speech on college campuses.

I attended a convocation at Queens University and was shocked to hear their Campus Chaplin honour Muhammad the Pedophile as part of the ceremony. Unbelievable, when the University was originally founded in a Presbyterian Church. That’s what happens when the Liberals take over.

“Marxism isn’t about debate or allowing dissenting opinion. Marxism is totalist ideology – it presunes absolute truth and universal infalibility much like a religious sect. Neo Marxism now ensconces academia making the very purpose of attaining knowledge though inquiry and reasoned debate a moot practice. That is a form of intellectual deceit, which when combined with the intolerance for opposing opinion which defines modern campus/academic leftist radicalism, represents the kind of radicalism which elicits strong counter-reaction. This is why I say the new right was birthed on the Berkeley Campus "

Worst part is that these brainwashed snowflakes think they can tell others what to do or say off campus as well, like they are in charge of the friggin world.

The radicalism, intolerance, arrogance and fanaticism of the student far left in the ‘60s and ‘70s helped to revive the failing Republican Party and bring it victories in five of the next six presidential elections. It has in the new millennia created a new right that has installed a populist President and ensured red state policy in the foreseeable future. It has also regionalised the US into 2 coastal socialist enclaves with red state America in the middle – virtually every state legislature is now republican. Radical leftism is the gift that keeps on giving to their political opposition.

Universities have become laughable in their close minded cowardliness. It is almost impossible for anyone on campus to say anything remotely true because everything has to first be put through the ultra constricting Orwellian prism of political correctness and what comes out the other end is always sanitized PC nonsense.
