How do you go from a relatively safe environment for women to a hotbed of sexual harassment?
In Australia recently, we've had official crime statistics which show that in terms of sexual harassment and sexual assault university campuses are 100 times safer for women than the rest of the community.
But we've gone from that, to this crazy Human Rights Commission report saying that over 50% of Australian university students have been sexually harassed on campus last year, 2016.
How have we gone from the official statistics to this piece of propaganda?
They use all the propaganda and statistical trickery they can to get to this point. The Australian Human Rights Commission brought in the producers of The Hunting Ground from the United States. This film was condemned by nineteen Harvard law professors as propaganda. Still the Human Rights Commission want to believe the worst about male university students in Australia. They want to believe they are sexual predators.
But the craziest thing is that they've redefined sexual harassment as trivia. Some of the re-definitions are amazing. The Human Rights Commission now says that a sexually suggestive joke is sexual harassment. Staring is sexual harassment. Commenting on someone's appearance is sexual harassment. Repeatedly asking someone out on a date, or a request for sex is sexual harassment.
By these definitions, some of the greatest skits from one of the greatest comedy shows of all time, Seinfeld, are now "sexual harassment".
This is damaging to women and the seriousness of the issue. The Human Rights Commission's Report is an absolute disgrace.
