Rachel Notley is not telling the truth about the leaked MNP Wildfire Report prepared on behalf of the Alberta government.
The report was completed in March, at the beginning of the legislative session and the government withheld it so they didn't have to answer for the damning findings against them. The report was eventually leaked out to the CBC forcing the government to hold an awkward press conference explaining that they had done.
Agriculture and Forestry Minister Oneil Carlier said the government didn't want to release the MNP report so close to the anniversary of the fire to avoid triggering anxieties in the residents of Fort McMurray. The government thought a lie might be easier to handle than the truth.
But the misleading goes deeper than the NDP just sitting on a report to shelter themselves from political fallout. You’ll never believe the whopper Rachel Notley told reporters on the anniversary of the fire. She said the report wasn’t even completed yet!
The truth is, she had the report in her hands for 2 months and was already frantically implementing the recommendations to seem like some sort of proactive political psychic.
Notley misled the Alberta public about what she knew and when she knew it because for her, protecting herself, the NDP and the bureaucrats in Agriculture and Forestry is more important than getting answers for people who lost everything.
