Notley government hides cost of carbon tax

Ezra LevantRebel Commander

On Friday's show, guest host Jerry Agar spoke to Amber Ruddy of the Canadian Federation for Independent Business, about the Notley government stonewalling their freedom of information request (FOI) regarding the real cost of her carbon tax.

We know that the Alberta NDP has a history of limiting the flow of information to the public, because they've repeatedly tried to stop The Rebel from accessing damaging information.

WATCH Amber describe how the Alberta NDP prevents the true cost of their carbon tax from going public.

“Ayan so Ontario is not indebt answer the question ?”

Debt can be reduced or eliminated when the conditions are right. Here’s an example at the federal level, which unfortunately was marred by the so-called “fiscally prudent” conservatives.

In 1994-95, the federal deficit was 4.7 per cent of GDP. By 1997-98 the deficit had been eliminated and the federal government ran surpluses for the next nine years. The federal debt was actually reduced by $90 billion; the debt burden fell from 66.6 per cent in 1994-95 to 31.4 per cent in 2006-07.

How does this compare to the Harper government’s fiscal record? In 2006-07, the Conservatives inherited a surplus of $13.8 billion — which they turned into a deficit of $5.8 billion within two years.

Since then, they have been in deficit each and every year. In 2009-10, the deficit reached its peak of 3.5 per cent of GDP. They are desperate now to show a surplus in 2015-16 — one surplus in nine years. Since Harper was elected, the federal debt has increased by over $150 billion, wiping out the reduction in federal debt achieved under Chretien and Martin. Not much to boast about there.

“The government is supposed to promote not destroy business.”

Learn to read.

Ontario’s real GDP grew one per cent in the first quarter of 2017, outperforming that of Canada, the United States and all other G7 countries.

Private-sector forecasters project that, on average, Ontario’s real GDP will increase 2.7 per cent in 2017, up from the 2.4 per cent projection at the time of the 2017 Budget.

The latest data shows that as of July 2017, Ontario’s unemployment rate is 6.1 per cent. The province’s unemployment rate has been below the national average for 28 consecutive months.

“and I’m banking they will”

In the meantime, here are the facts.

BC has had a carbon tax since 2008. B.C.‘s GDP has slightly outperformed the rest of Canada’s since 2008.

“The result is that taxpayers are coming out ahead. B.C. now has the lowest personal income tax rate in Canada (with additional cuts benefiting low-income and rural residents) and one of the lowest corporate rates in North America. You shouldn’t need an economist and a mining entrepreneur to tell you that’s good for business and jobs.

At the same time, it’s been extraordinarily effective in tackling the root cause of carbon pollution: the burning of fossil fuels. Since the tax came in, fuel use in B.C. has dropped by 16 per cent; in the rest of Canada, it’s risen by 3 per cent (counting all fuels covered by the tax). To put that accomplishment in perspective, Canada’s Kyoto target was a 6-per-cent reduction in 20 years. And the evidence points to the carbon tax as the major driver of these B.C. gains."

AYAN…Your carbon “pollution” theory may be about to go the way of the dinosaur. Let us wait for a peer review of a new theory with apparently some serious facts to back it up disputing the entire CO2/green house gas warmist theory is bunk. When these proofs come out, and I’m banking they will, it will expose the fallacy that carbon taxes and the AGW lies are just that, A BIG LIE. The root cause of carbon pollution OR, the root cause of S F A.

AYAN…Thanks for proving you know how figures have been fudged and the public has been deceived about the actual results of BCs bullshit carbon tax, or you are the basic lefty troll who knows next to nothing but feels you must lie and pretend in order to push the narrative. Looking a lot like you are both. Has the BC carbon tax done anything to alter world climate? NO. Is said carbon tax revenue neutral? NO. If you ACTUALLY believe that lie you should be relegated to a padded cell. And by the way, how do you respond to the proving of the fudged figures in the latest Global “warming” lie? Why have the water levels in the Atlantic dropped the past two years? Another PAUSE? Or are you clinging to Gore’s dick to stay afloat? You could carbon tax every penny from every human on earth and do fuck all to change the climate, but keep preaching, it is somewhat amusing how the left can only twist words and figures to forge ahead, while they can’t seem to admit to the facts. Cryin Ayan.

It’s fascinating how anyone can truly believe:
1) taking money from some can reduce carbon dioxide emission
2) that carbon dioxide is an actual pollutant

Much of the administration of the carbon-tax is composed of bribes that have been transferred to other interests for the purpose of social-license.

The reality is that the tax is not revenue-neutral…it operates at a constant loss.

The war against liberals has already begun. Be ready.

How in the hell does taxing Canadians for carbon and giving the money to other countries that cheat at reporting carbon emissions stop climate change ? This is just a tax cow that will make us all poorer and raise the cost of living . But you government workers just keep sucking the tax payers dry . Any government can balance a budget if you raise taxes to cover it .
Ontario would out perform BC hands down if it weren’t for this stupid Liberal government jacking hydro rates and for what , climate change . Climate has changed since the beginning of time and no amount of carbon tax will stop it .

True that Peter..!!!
My statement was referring to the here and now regarding the government that we have and the lack of integrity within those institutions referred to as “mainstream media”.
There is however a large disconnect when the mainstream media is digging FOI’s on the conservative government… They call everything and anything that they do bad for the country and bad for the people while the opposite is generally true.

Any media willing to pay the high price both financially and personally to extract information that the government does not want to release must be on the right track.!! What blows my mind is why can’t the trolls see that… Mainstream media doesn’t invest one penny to get below the superficial to find out exactly what the government is spending and what it’s costing the citizens of this province in all facets of their daily lives.!!
