Imagine the government attacking you and your business for your private political beliefs. That sort of thing only happens in places like Cuba or Venezuela, right? No. Think closer to home. Think Banff, Alberta.
NDP MLA Cam Westhead is attacking the owner of the Rundlestone Lodge in Banff for being skeptical of global warming. Westhead tweeted:
“@Rundlebanff owner Ron Bateman thinks climate change is a scam yet scientists agree it threatens ecosystems that his business depends on.”
Westhead included a screenshot of a tweet from Bateman that said, “I’ll say it, Climate change is a scam. A no doubt scam. A way to distract people from real political problems.”
Now the NDP are demanding utter ideological homogeneity, complete compliance with the NDP agenda or they will try to harm your business. It’s a total abuse of Westhead’s role as MLA.
But we can do something. If you’re in Banff and can do it, swing in and spend a few bucks at Rundlestone Lodge.
Let’s stick up for business owners like Ron Bateman who are brave enough to stand up, say something and draw the ire of the NDP.
