Notley NDP’s “solar welfare program” doesn’t add up: $36M handout costs jobs

Sheila Gunn ReidRebel Commentator

The NDP have announced they are giving $36 million in grants to 10,000 home and business owners in Alberta to put solar panels on their buildings.

That’s $3,600 per handout.

Now the NDP claim this massive solar welfare program will create 900 jobs over three years.

I don't think the NDP have considered the math here. I don't think they have bothered to really examine what this $36M in rebates really means and what the NDP are doing to Alberta to hand them out. I did the math.

It looks like part time work, and a lot of lost jobs. The NDP are eliminating thousands of good paying natural gas and coal jobs to create 900 part time solar panel jobs.

The NDP solution to Albertans economic woes is handouts for solar panels when we can hardly afford the brooms to sweep the snow off them.

What really worries me as well is the contents of Shelia’s other report on AIMCo

“The NDP quietly removed the section of a law that protects Albertans from political meddling and sheer incompetence on the board of an arm’s length crown corporation called the Alberta Investment Management Corporation, or AIMCo for short.”

Without these safeguard in place the Notley and NDP government can place anyone on the AIMCo Board and spend the Alberta nest egg on everyone of the ideological scams similar to what happened in Ontario.

MONGREL….I have little doubt the one I dealt with is a solid link in the dipper chain, and I have dealt with her before. It is hard for me to have a soft spot for them, they spew the garbage rhetoric and when I’ve had enough I put an end to it. I think they get quite hardened. and surely they must anticipate a LOT of negativity and anger . They know how unpopular this communistic calamity is. I always try to start out politely, even with the enemy, but I am at my all time boiling point. I’ll try to pay heed Mongrel, you have shown much wisdom in your posts.

Roy and David,

I am always polite to the staffers. They are usually just young innocents making a buck while they learn life. Granted, their foot is in the regressive door to get the job, but being front line they hear the problems people face. If they are dealt with respect by those of us who make the point, they will be converts to true democratic liberalism as they start to question socialism while maturing. At least that is my hope, having once been a wide-eyed socialist myself before responsibilities.

David White – thanks for your response, it made me laugh. I know this evil ndpees can absolutely make one very furious. I wonder if anyone has gotten a 2 page notice only to find out that my money did not come back to me as a rebate. Ugly damn regressive, punishing carbon tax, I’m just livid at the upsurdity of this thieving carbon tax, this has got to stop. We spent more than $150.00 extra for one month alone. January – carbon tax $80.00 more for my furnace, $20.00 more for power bills, $40.00 extra on grocery bills, $20.00 extra on my car. ETC, can you imagine a young family like my son has with 4 kids, this is so disgusting in every shape or form.

I have sold solar pumps for years for agriculture and can tell you, $3600 bucks is no where near enough to do anything worthwhile, It would take at least 15,000 for a grid intertie system and probably at least 10 to 15 years to pay it out, or if one goes to batteries then it is closer to $40,000 for a regular house and closer to a 30 to 40 year payout. 900 jobs is complete BS, Even with the grants it makes no economic sense to put panel on on your roof seems to be more of a feel good NDP thing. I def call BS on the 900 jobs

ROY JEANINE……Call douche bag Shannon Phillips office. You might be able to get some info at least. Try to be a bit more polite than I was, I think an ndp snowflake melted away after I was done. Possibly needed medical assistance. No sense arguing with you over which one of us is more angry. I think we are tied!!!!

Sheila, great reporting as usual, you rock. I need your response to my question, please. I received a 2 page notice about this garbage carbon tax rebate saying that our $100.00 rebate had been deposited in our account. Well guess what, I have checked our 2 accounts in 2 banks and there is ABSOLUTELY NO DEPOSIT made from the government at all. I have checked December, January and now February’s statements and no deposit to be found at all. On top of that, there are no contact name, no contact phone number, no contact department, no information at all if one has a question as in my case. Cute eh, another lie. I don’t even know who to contact on this at all. Any ideas…

Damn near 10 BILLION DOLLARS SUCKED OUT OF US in 3 years, you are absolutely correct Bill. And there isn’t a damn thing we can do to stop this gross insanity. ONCE YOU ELECT THESE POLITICIANS, THEY CAN AND DO WHATEVER, AND NOT A DAMN THING FOR US TO DO EXCEPT TO PAY, PAY AND PAY with no repercussions to them for bringing down our beautiful province to its knees. This has got to be changed. These elected officials are given carte Blanche and they never follow the will of the people after they are elected. Nutley and her band of DESTROYERS will leave hopefully soon rolling in our hard-earned money and we will spend years paying for their humungous mistake, I am so outrageously ticked.

Here’s Notley’s plan for the carbon (ie; consumption tax on everything). She expects to suck 9.6B out of us over 5 yrs.
3.2B for rebates and tax cuts.
3.4B for renewable energy, bio energy and technology.
2.2B for green infrastructure like transit.
645M for new government energy beurocracy (no doubt lots more gov jobs)
195M slush fund for coal towns and native communities.
Apparently nothing for debt she’s racking up.

limate crisis is a provable hoax, taxing to fix it is an even more provable hoax, fossil fuel drives first world economies, abundant, inexpensive fossil fuel is a dramatic competative advantage that should make Canada afflent and the economic envy of the globe – but no, we have surrendered our prosperity to global Bolsheviks who want to destroy our economy and export it to dissolute 2nd world communist nations – mostly out of deep seated resentment of capitalist success but they do so by guilting us over mythical “crisis”.

Time to POP THE RED PILL, hang the commies and embrace the clean coal tech future

It looks like Notley is following Wynne’s philosophy of cronyism. Wynne gives rebates to those that can afford Teslas at the expense of the low income earner, who, because of the carbon tax and energy programme, has to choose between medicine, food or transportation. Notley is giving rebates to those that can afford the expense of solar panel installation, at the expense of the low income earner who is, because of the carbon tax and energy programme, having to decide between food, medicine or home heating energy.

Wynne and Notley, two dried peas in a pod.

Aren’t you excited about receiving all new LED lights throughout your home and a low volume shower head. Shannon says that spending $ 43,000,000 of tax payer money on LED’s and shower heads will help climate change. Sure. (Oh… and a skilled technician will even come to your house to perform the install !!!!)

Seeing how 90% of the lights currently stocked (and sold I might add) on store shelves are LED’s (or non-friendly CFL’s) and almost all shower heads (and sink faucets) manufactured and being sold today come with volume restrictors internally installed, spending $ 43,000,000 is a wise use of our money. Sure.

Shannon says, by spending $ 36,000,000 the plan is to have 10,000 homes equipped with solar panels within 3 years. (That’s $ 3,600 average for home. Really???). Sure.

Remember Trudeau I ? It is the same fuddle duddle all over again. Many young voters weren’t even born then. It’s the same sales pitch !!!! Shannon herself probably doesn’t realize it. How ridiculous.

NO TO CARBON TAX.

Solution: How about we vote these Nuts into non existence come 2019 ?
