Rachel Notley is spending $9 million taxpayer dollars to sell the single largest tax hike in Alberta history to Alberta taxpayers. She’s using your own money to tell you she needs more of your money. I can’t even make this stuff up!
Notley spent $4.5 million on print, TV, radio and internet ads to promote her Climate Leadership Plan and carbon tax. But when Albertans didn’t fall for the green brainwashing, she doubled down, ordering another $4.5 million in advertising spending.
I’m old enough to remember when the NDP thought the wasting of taxpayer dollars on self promotion was a bad thing.
Do you remember those “Building Alberta” signs that polluted every single government funded transportation or infrastructure across the province during Alison Redford’s reign? They were awful, partisan, shameless and expensive. Everyone hated them - except the PCs.
Brian Mason was the leader of the NDP back then and he told the Edmonton Sun, "We deplore the waste of public money advertising Alison Redford”
Me too, Brian, me too.
But unlike Mason, I feel the same way about Rachel Notley spending money on advertising Rachel Notley.
