Ontario gun owners dodge a bullet: Ford PCs kill “cosmically stupid” ammo bill

David MenziesMission Specialist

Ontario’s legal gun owners can thank Doug Ford’s PCs for yet another victory for common sense after they quashed the Liberal’s Bill 30 that would have allowed municipalities to ban the sale of handgun ammunition — even for police and the military!

The bill was the crowning achievement of former Minister of Affirmative Action Mitzie Hunter, and had actually made it to second reading before being taken out back behind the Queen’s Park barn to be put out of its misery.

Yeah — disarm the good guys and hope the bad guys follow suit based on the honour system.

And even if the Liberals imagined in their wildest fantasies that they could get rid of every bullet, do they really believe the bad guys wouldn’t figure out a way to make their own?

Thankfully, that question is now academic since Hunter and her virtue-signalling ilk have been reduced from a majority-government to a minivan party with seven seats, and Ontarians just dodged a cosmically stupid Liberal bullet!

Another Ford victory. I’m so glad he didn’t allow the Liberals to get party status after they fell short. They are a constant reminder that the voters were just waiting for a way to vent their anger at the elected elite & Ford finally gave them that chance. With this latest move Ford made it clear that Ontario no longer competes with California when it comes to who can come up with the craziest leftist laws.

@Angela Watt – I think the only way to stop legislation of the kind the Liberals are trying to create is to put a conservative party back into power. I don’t know whether it will be Scheer’s CPC or Maxime Bernier’s new party but that’s the only hope. The Liberals, NDP and Greens are surely in favour of any and all gun control measures that the SJWs (Social Justice Warriors) propose, no matter how naive or reckless.

As a woman who does not own a gun, I completed the survey repeatedly stating that the best action to take is to leave legal gun owners alone and charge the illicit criminals more harshly when they use any sort of weapon (i.e. guns – hand or otherwise) severely. I doubt if what I had to say will hold any water, but if enough of us post, who knows? Nothing like wishful thinking eh?

@HAROLD HOFF you are right-on-correct with your analysis. Of course, they will all deny it, but me personally being in another country in Scandinavia (not Sweden), I can confirm your facts. Violence and bullying are out-of-control in said country. One thinks it is bad in North America, we have nothing on them. Unfortunately, many in the West hold this country up with undue praise.

Recent court case, awarded children financial compensation against their parent (mother), who tugged their hair/ear. Again, the mother did not “pull” their hair/drag them by their hair, she tugged their hair, like the old school masters used to do.

Violence in schools, assaulting teachers is rampant. Again, they say more teachers are needed, but that is only a band-aid solution. So many secret recordings of children taunting, and abusing the teachers.

Recent court case, teacher was fired, punished, and charged, after child assaulted him, and he pushed the child out of the door (child remained standing). The teacher had his salary re-instated to work administration, but not directly with children. I would actually WANT him working with children, he is the only one that understand what is happening.

Many cases of social services flipping children against their parents. Many cases of parents going AWOL. Some sad cases of parents murdering their children. Societal pressures; social services, both parents needing to work, and a total lack of control, are all red flags.

Mitzie’s Bill was utterly stupid…good thing the party that can ride share in a minivan to the legislature isn’t going to further harm Ontarians.

Thanks ROBERT MCCLELLAND for linking that. I filled it out a few days ago. The bias in the leading questions is astonishing. I gave good long answers wherever possible, citing facts, empirical data etc, and repeatedly reminding them that they need to stop looking for easy solutions to complex societal problems. it took 2 generations to create a non-cohesive and violent society, it will take 2 to reverse it. I also pointed out about 10 scientifically-backed solutions, NONE of which the progressives would like.

For example (so you’ll see what I mean). In 1962 (1st yr records kept) Canada’s per-capital violent crime rate rose from 200 to a peak of 1,100 in 1993, that 550% of 1962, and subsiding a little to about 1,000 today.

Crime and Punishment: Corporal punishment (CP) as 1 example
1) 1960s – Provincial corrections remove “the strap” as a sentence – Result? violence increased
2) 1972 – Federal corrections removed “the strap” as a sentence – Result? violence increased (recent research shows CP is 3X more effective in stopping repeat offences vs. incarceration)
3) School boards & Provincial Education Ministries removed moderate CP from schools 1970s to mostly 1985. Result? violence increased (recent research shows CP 82% effective, and 94% effective for violent offences – hitting or physical bullying)
4) Now they want to criminalize parents from using minor force to discipline (Senate Bill S-206) What was the result in Sweden who did this in 1979?
By 2010 – Physical child abuse UP 2079%
Assaults by minors UP 2360%
Rapes of minors UP 7242%

Good choices are not easy or popular. They are Moral, Just & Effective. I gave many unrelated suggestions. I bet they think I’m the devil, when actually, they are.

Did I get that right, with only 7 MPPs left (no pun intended) and this was a Liberal-sponsored bill? Well, they obviously weren’t spanked hard enough by the electorate last June as one miscreant still got through and didn’t get the message. This part needs to be eradicated entirely, along with the kooks in the NDP

Oh gee, gun bans are just so successful in controlling violent crime and terrorism. Without guns the criminals and terrorists are powerless, right? I mean just look at London where firearms have been banned for years……

Oops, well maybe I kinda overstated things just a little…..okay I totally messed up on this one.

The Minister of Public Peril, Bill Blair, wants your opinion on the Liberals proposed ban on handguns and semi-automatic rifles. Here is the link to the government site.

I took a look at that link and didn’t think I was emotionally capable at the time, of answering some of those questions without bursting into an uncontrollable rage! I’ll go into deep meditation for a couple of days, or weeks, and try reading it again…
Like finding out my little wooden-stocked, blue-steeled, scoped, Ruger 10-22 I use for small game, plinking and varmints, is now an assault rifle?! And don’t get me started on the Ruger 25/30 banana magazines being arbitrarily prohibited by the RCMP

Ridicule and contempt Menzoid, ridicule and contempt!
Short of outright Rebellions and revolution, it’s all we have to fight back against the embedded left in the power structure, who’re hell-bent on self destruction…for all of us!
We need more Rebel Lions!

I am very glad I am not an urbanite any longer. Retiring on an isolated area on a lake surrounded by crown land where I am becoming self sufficient, away from fake news, daily commutes, and stress is good. I do not have to see or interact with diverse people, liberals, LGBTs, migrants and Muslims is like winning the lottery. I pity folks who live in urban areas where indications of the decay and fall of this once great country are visible everywhere. Leftism did this to Canada. #MakeCanadaVenezuela

For the purposes of their survey, the Liberals have used a broad definition of “assault rifle” to include semi-automatic rifles which most fair minded individuals would say is sneaky and completely inappropriate.

Besides Islam, our worst enemy are Liberals. Now that the Liberals have sold their selves to Islam I guess that they are all one and the same thing. We will need ammunition to help with the control of Liberals, verbal ammunition….Of course.

These Lefties are like stupid seeking missiles. If there is an evil, stupid, destructive idea they manage to hit it dead centre every time.
