Ontario Court of Appeal strikes down “screwball” ruling by activist judge on Bill 5

David MenziesMission Specialist

It’s been three months since the PCs ousted the Liberals in Ontario and the left are still in deep denial, continuing to thwart the democratic process as we saw when they tried to stop Premier Ford from reducing the size of Toronto City Council.

We know municipalities exist at the whim of the province, so the sore losers on the left were pleased when activist Judge Edward Belobaba struck down Bill 5 as “unconstitutional.”

But the only thing the judge’s ruling did was force the Premier into enacting the Notwithstanding Clause in order to trump Belobaba’s screwball decision.

In the end, Ontario’s Court of Appeal struck down what they termed a “dubious ruling,” confirming Belobaba’s decision very likely “erred in law.”

Whether you agree with the decision by the Ford PCs to cut Toronto City Council in half or not, the Court of Appeal was bang-on in both the letter and the spirit of the provincial law.

Mark Steyn says the future will have no jokes, which is very sad but at least we have David to make us chuckle with pride.

Too bad that the real people wern’t more organized and 500 went to Belobaba’s house and peacefully protested him not being fired for his activist decisions. Liberals like him would think twice before ignoring the laws.

Belobaba, now there’s a name rich in Canadian heritage. Must be the son of Ali Baba!

A little upgrade to James Robert’s score comment.
Us 1
Upcoming matches are Us vs Notley and Us vs Trudeau .
Can we win ? Yes ,if we get involved in every riding and work hard for our candidates .
Bold steps like Doug Ford’s confrontation with Toronto City Council are much easier when you know you have the support of thousands of citizens that rejected Wynne and sent her party to the locker room on a gurney.

A sentence from Paul worth repeating …

“The left call everyone else fascists & Nazis while acting like fascists & Nazis.”

I think that is called, psychological projection.

Definition: Psychological projection is a theory in psychology in which the human ego defends itself against unconscious impulses or qualities (both positive and negative) by denying their existence in themselves while attributing them to others.

A perfect description of the current strain of leftists.

Activist judges should face sanctions and disciplinary hearings. In some cases, removal from the bench.

They never had a leg to stand on here. Ford appealed the decision while invoking the notwithstanding clause – insuring that the downsizing of Toronto’s bloated council went through. The left call everyone else fascists & Nazis while acting like fascists & Nazis.

Basically Judge Belobaba’s ruling said all you idiot voters that elected Ford and destroyed Wynne must go home and shut up because I’m smarter than you are.
His ruling disregarded what we the people of the entire Province voted for ……CHANGE !!!!
I’m actually shocked that a court would actually side with the electorate.

David you nailed it – Franken Judge! This judge should be investigated and audited. I think all Judges should be elected by the people, not appointed by corrupt politicians!

Good one David. I wish we had more of you

Ron and Peter…this is why I carry firearm owners legal insurance. It is $100 a year and you are a fool if you do not carry it.

Here is a shameless plug for them, no they did not pay me or put me up to it.

“Even a 8 year old knows that you cannot fit a 3 inch X 1 inch item in a hole the size of a bb.”

The higher the level of education, the stupider they get.

This judge and the pipeline judge that just Cost Canada and the Pipeline workers a Billion dollars, saying an extra ship a day may hurt the white whale, should be punished like employees in the private sector, when they make a mistake.
Give them a week off with no pay, and if they do it again fire them.

Did you hear about the really dumb female judge who sent a man to jail for having a 22 rifle with ammunition in his house. His defense lawyer pointed out that the gun was not loaded as the ammunition near the 22 was for a shot-gun. The idiot judge said that that the 22 could be converted so the shot-gun shells would fit. Even a 8 year old knows that you cannot fit a 3 inch X 1 inch item in a hole the size of a bb.

My guess is that if there is a higher court that this legislation can be challenged at, the leftist jerks will do it … with Canadian tax dollars, of course. They would never use their own money to challenge the ruling.

Good grief, the left really are scum.

Glad to see that there is still at least one judge actually ruling on the law instead of ruling on his political whim.

It gives me a small amount of hope that the not all the “5 p’s” are corrupt Liberal hacks.
