SPECIAL: Rebel reporters had to be “smuggled into” Pompeo event on Parliament Hill — by U.S. media delegation

Ezra LevantRebel Commander

What does it say to you about the state of free speech and a free press in Canada, when the Rebel can only cover a story in our nation's capital with help from the United States?

That's what happened with Keean Bexte and I went to Ottawa to report on U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo's meeting up here with Chrystia Freeland.

As you know, the Rebel has been denied credentials in the Ottawa Parliamentary Press Gallery, and even on foreign soil — at a "media freedom conference"! — Trudeau's Liberals tried and failed to get us barred from reporting.

So when we learned that Pompeo was coming to Ottawa, I had to come up with a way to cover his visit.

WATCH to learn the lengths we had to go to just to be able to do journalism about our own Liberal government, in our own country.

PLUS: A BONUS report on one of Freeland's high level staffers I encountered up on Parliament Hill.

I thought it was... strange...

Tell me if you agree with me.

Maybe I’m reaching here but just maybe this young lad was protesting the Trudeau sock fetish/nihilism by not wearing any.

All part of the Liberal government’s 3rd world dictator style approach to “openness” & “inclusion”.

Their rifles are disabled too!?
%#($!#& lefties!

Did you know the police in Canada are NOT ALLOWED to carry their duty/personal sidearms off duty?!

The destructive, irrational left in Canada has to go…all of them!

I can’t help but think of the Wizard of Oz every time I hear and see Freeland in interviews, and in person. Hand her a straw broom, and witches costume, and she is straight up the Wicked Witch of the East.

This crap with the Rebel not being recognized as a bonafide media/news venue is getting old real quick. They can’t all be liberal sheep at the bought and payed for “big” media scrags. There has to be some that want to say a loud FU to Unifor’s Diaz, and the Trudeau turtle corpses.

Time for some “sunlight” to shine in and stop the mold.

The wearing of shoes and no socks with an ankle chain is the in thing in Europe among gays. So i expect it’s the same here.

I’m afraid you and your entourage will go through the invisible wall if the Conservatives take power. Everyone (media and political members ) are absolutely afraid of the rebel.Seems the truth is represents evil in this country and you are the top bad guy

Our corrupt and lawless PM has been allowed to make payments to an already fawning, predominantly left wing, media in order to further soften their already mostly favourable coverage of his bloated and entitlement laden government. Further, that same, predominantly left wing, media has wilfully participated in the censorship of their counterparts on the right, by the denial of press credentials. Together, our corrupt PM and his paid far left supporters in the media are a direct threat to our Parliamentary democracy. Trudeau must go.

Do those Honour Guards at the National War Memorial have ammunition, Ezra?

I certainly hope so.
The Ottawa Police are in charge of the Ceremonial Guards safety. The Ceremonial rifles are disabled. It was said that Corp. Nathan Cirillo was shot in the back by the Terrorist, so a loaded rifle wouldn’t have helped. (not verified)

Well done Ezra on both getting in via the US and circumventing the Liberal ban on the legitimate journalists at the Rebel and coming up with the question the Canadian journalists went with. Shame on the Liberal government for being so anti free speech and ruining relations with every country in the world we deal with except Sweden and maybe Norway?

Yup, that kid looks like Pee Wee Herman. Chrystia rarely looks professional. They just don’t seem to care how they represent Canada.
Brilliant getting in, (darn good of the Americans to accommodate) quick on the msm’s part to use it to keep you from asking your stellar question on the Canadian side. Still a victory though.
Chystia respects Canadian steel workers, my behind.
There is no way we should be using China’s inferior steel in Canada.

Me too Dan.

As for the Sockless Joe, you are 100% right Ezra. It is not a millennial thing Keean, it is a terrible fashion faux pas. It’s called professionalism.
Canada’s government employees have zero respect for not only the visiting officials, but for their own Minister’s office.
Any formal event where there are diplomatic or senior officials attending, you must dress appropriate to the event, not to your own standards.
This guy needs to be briefed by his Minister’s office on the protocol…oh ya, he is the Minister’s office. What a profound joke these people are and what a profound embarrassment they are to all of us.
Can you just hear President Trump if even one of his junior staff showed up looking like that? “Put socks on the kid” is a pretty good guess what he’d say.

You realize that now American media attending any Canadian events will be told not to let TheRebel in.
They treat TheRebel like Maxime Bernier.

And this Chinese LNG project is a disaster. I’m gonna have to fix it and I’ll fail weld tests (maybe) on cheap Chinese laminated steel. We could build it way better. Definitely. This is a political blowjob.

I kind of like you looking like a shleep. You should see me. My son says I’m a combination of Clint Eastwood (The Mule) Tim Allen and Danny Devito from Twins. Do I look normal to you? I have a mission. Provided to me. So do you. Thanks be to God

We obviously need to SOCK it to the Liberals in October. We who have Conservative MPs also need to point out how undemocratic these Libranos are.If enough of us bombard the Conservative MPs with questions about the lack of freedom of speech here in our own Parliament, it just might get then talking to constituants about how dictatorial Trudeau’s people are.

Ezra, I’m wondering if the no socks thing is a Jewish issue? Many years ago my former husband was a sales rep for certain products and one of his Jewish customers told him that if he came in without socks she would not deal with him.

Quite frankly I think he looks like an idiot, but that fits with this government… and even ministers often look like idiots with how they dress and approach life. “It’s more about ME than government”. (Don’t get me started!!!)

Can’t wait for the election!!!! “He’s still not ready!”

“Canadian Steelworkers lose out as Canada’s largest Project uses Chinese Steel!”

This is another priceless opportunity for Scheer as he could set up a press conference at Stelco Steel to announce that BC’s LNG Project would not be using Canadian made steel. Of course bring up the 2 Canadians being held prisoner in China for no reason.

Did you ever have a feeling, when something happens, that you have done the same thing before, but you cannot quite remember where or when??
commented 2019-08-26 20:26:31 -0400
Just more hypocrisy. They ban the Rebel from the conference because they don’t like its reporting, but they don’t even want to dress properly when entertaining a foreign dignitary.
