Our #CrotchesKill CONTEST: Send in photos of Alberta police, politicians using phones while driving and win cash!

Ezra LevantRebel Commander

Selfie-taking Alberta politicians like mayor Naheed Nenshi have been tweeting #CrotchesKill. Why?

To "raise awareness" about a new government website, CrotchesKill.ca, telling people not to drive with their cell phone on the seat between their legs.

They've raised the fine for distracted driving to $287. (I'm sure this is about safety, and not a cash-grab by the bankrupt government...)

So I’m starting a contest. It's just for Alberta for now.

If you can get me a picture of a provincial MLA using their phone in their car, I’ll pay you $50 for the picture.

If you can get king of the selfies, Naheed Nenshi, I’ll pay $100.

Same for his Edmonton twin, Don Iveson.

And I will pay $250 to anyone who snaps a picture of the king and queen of the nanny state, Brian Mason, the Transport Minister, or the Premier, Rachel Notley.

(Now, Notley I do know has a limo driver, because you know, the NDP is the party of the working man. So fine, get a picture of her limo driver on the phone.)

It has to be an exclusive picture, not one you found on the Internet.

Just send me an e-mail to tips@therebel.media, and put "Cell Phone" in the subject line.

Everyone’s a winner here. You get some cash. We get a great story. We take some holier than thou busy-bodies down a peg. And hey — let’s make those highways safer.

There is no special training for driving while texting/entering data into a computer. The only moron here is Stuart. Your a clown Stuart. One that needs to be removed from the gene pool. Seriously! It’s not distain for the law, it’s the double standard that piss’s one off. Idiot

Distracted driving is dangerous and is a problem without question. One does not even have to rely on studies to prove this out. (Had a personal experience with someone rear ending me.)
I will give the Police and EMS (only) some grace on this issue however. But definitely not politicians though.

You guys are being complete morons and taking my comments to the extreme. Obviously the police need to be in the execution of their duties. As for you Lee I fail to see what a bus driver has to do with anything of what I said. I honestly hope that when a burglar is breaking in to your guys’ houses the police will have to pull over to the side of the road to talk on the radio or phone and triple their response time, at least it will remove you from the gene pool, but hey you guys won’t need the police will you? You obviously have such disdain for them you wouldn’t lower yourselves to being helped by them.

@stuart sturko you just justified a cop driving into a bus shelter full of children while updating their facebook.
well done.
and I suspect there is a lot more where that comes from.

Not long ago the media reported that distracted driving fatalities now outnumber impaired driving fatalities. For this reason I am of the opinion that the penalties should be the same. Would that not be fair?

All Marxist like to drive with their hand on their crotch, they think it is a shift lever and know that it will not shift up on it’s own.

@stuart Sturko, would you give the same exemption to the cop I saw drive over the curb and hit the fence in the Timmie’s drive-through because he so busy fumbling with a tray of coffees and bag of donuts WHILE DRIVING?
How about the Calgary Transit driver who failed to notice that she had stopped her fully-loaded double-length wiggle-wagon ON MY CROSSWALK because she was too busy yakking on the cell-phone WHILE DRIVING? I suppose if she was talking to her dispatcher it doesn’t count, eh?
I’m keeping my camera phone handy now that there’s some easy money to be made out there…

LMAO!!! Outstanding Ezra!!!!

This nanny state crap has to end. Putting these “nanny staters” on display as you have Ezra is brilliant. Putting the “do as I say, not as I do” crowd on display is long overdue.

Can’t wait for this to go viral!!!! Beautiful play Ezra!!!!

That’s hardly fair about the police and law enforcement. They are exempt because they may need to go on their phone or computer while responding to an emergency. For instance they can’t stop while entering the license plate number of a vehicle they are following or they may be on the phone with the victim of an ongoing violent crime and are getting vital information while responding. When you add the fact that police receive driver training that vastly exceeds what average driver receives then I hope we can see why police are rightfully exempt.
