PCs inherit $15B deficit: 3 ways Ford can return Ontario to fiscal normalcy

David MenziesMission Specialist

Premier Ford has described the unexpected $15B deficit he inherited from the Liberals as “the biggest government scandal in a generation,” but was anyone really surprised by it?

Probably not, but now it’s time to quit whining about the Wynne-Liberals and get down to business, and if the Ford PCs have the political courage and testicular fortitude, I’ve got three can’t-miss ways to save money!

I’ll explain why the PCs should sell-off the LCBO (and scandal-plagued OLG while they’re at it), stop pumping money into the $40M per year thing called TVO (which should be called TV Y!) and steal an idea from Bob Rae’s NDP government from 1993.

And with that, I’ve given Premier Ford six figures of free consulting advice that should help Ontario’s beleaguered taxpayers!

You’re welcome.

Menzies’ remarks on the LCBO would carry a lot more weight if they were based on last year; a lot might have changed since the early 2000’s. Not that I’m suggesting that they did change, just that we should probably give them the benefit of the doubt until we know differently. Are there any financial advisors that care to read more recent LCBO reports to see what the situation is today?

If today’s situation is similar to what Menzies reported for 2002 – which wouldn’t remotely surprise me – that would serve as elegant support for a bumper sticker slogan I saw thirty years back: “Crime wouldn’t pay if the government ran it”.

“PCs inherit $15B deficit”

14.8 of which went into lining the pockets of Liberals and their crony supporters.

The problem with the provincial debt ballooning while under a Liberal government is that so long as the Liberals and their supporters line their pockets and get wealthy, none of them care one whit about how much the province (or country in the case of Trudeau) goes into debt.

So finally when the right minded people take back power, the Conservative government spends all its time and effort getting the reckless spending of the previous government under control all the the while making people angry because their perks and goodies are being throttled back.

The result is that the Conservative government only remains in power long enough to barely reign in spending (but never all the way back) and then the next Liberal government comes in and spends all the hard earned gain and much more, making the rich and powerful people happy again.

And the cycle goes on and on and on ad infinitum. Three steps backwards (Liberals), one step forwards (Conservatives).

And to think there are still Lieberal supporters in Ontario who think that vile wicked witch Wynne was an honorable & honest politician. I was stunned to hear this, I really was.

Ford has a bunch of work to do to get the deficit paid off and cut all the fat in government Wynne had created. Not to mention the teachers B.S. and related messes.

Ron Voss they have to slay the deficit first in order to pay off debt.

ALBERTA MAGA Thanks for that clarification. Seems silly then for David Menzies to focus on $15 billion when the real issue is $317 billion!

I realize that Immigration is Federal, however a Province can choose not to cooperate just as they are with the Carbon Tax. Speaking of that, I was hoping Shelia or Mr. New would have a short video of Ford and Kenney in Alberta. Of course the MSM didn’t show too much on the protest.

Menzies, great financial advise for Premier Ford. Add a moratorium on Border Jumpers, Refugees and all Immigration except in the case of those that have a job waiting.

Debt per capital in Alberta = $12,558

Debt per capital in Ontario = $1042

Good advice David, let us hope that PPM Ford follows it, I’m sure he will as well as adding some more money saving strategy’s of his own.
