Ignore the union spin: Pensions, not “pay equity,” is what’s REALLY behind labour unrest at Canada Post

Brian LilleyArchive

Canada Post workers are threatening to go on strike, claiming there's a "wage gap" between male and female employees. But if that's true, doesn't that make their union the worst in history, given that -- as we all know -- "It's 2016"?

Bill Tufts of Fair Pensions for All comes on to explain that the real issue is pensions.

These generous plans (paid for with your tax dollars) are simply unsustainable in this day and age, but no one in power wants to touch this hot button problem.

Tufts points out that municipalities in North America have already declared bankruptcy over unfunded "gold plated" pensions for police and other public employees.

(He also predicts which Canadian province may be the first to go bankrupt thanks to this very issue.)

So is privatization the answer? Does anyone really rely on Canada Post anyhow?

And how do "reforms" to the Canada Pension Plan factor in?

It's a wide ranging conversation with a true expert — and it concerns every Canadian because, one way or another, we're footing the bill.

I guess this is how the global financial collapse is going to actually begin manifesting…with the Domino effect of the bankruptcy and collapse of sub-national jurisdictions and then the international banking cabal, er cartel, as the result of the blood-sucking of the host by the public sector unions. Classic Cloward/Piven strategy. I wonder who the ‘rescuers’ will be.

Great, more slow and painful death of our once sovereign and prosperous nation on the horizon, courtesy of our ‘government’.
Ohhh Canada…or maybe we should call it Post Canada…

Just so you people who say that they will go to another company, Canada Post delivers the last KM’s to most of the other companies because we have a better track record and Canada Post delivers to all places in Canada not like the competition.

Pensions – something the media party won’t touch – it’s all unicorns and rainbows.

But if you step outside this useless/shit media party crap, you will quickly find that pensions are ponzi schemes and won’t last another 20 years.

California??? FUCKED!!

Largest US Pension??? FUCKED!!

And that piece of shit Wynne makes another ponzi scheme in Ontario – raping the taxpayers of more of their miniscule savings. FUCK YOU WYNNE!!!

Oh no i will not get my junk mail. I wonder what they will say when many people do not even notice they are not delivering.

Michelle Young that is crap and CP has a monopoly on certain types of mail. Take that away and the private companies will eat them alive.

Great report BRIAN , you done a double exposure on that film

I think I’ve found an identity that trumps Muslims it’s certain unions
These reports will become more and more common as unions bankrupt, and provinces where they are favored will go bankrupt, that will be the maritimes, heavily laden with leftards

I wonder how many Canada Post employees commute to and from work in a horse-drawn carriage, or light their homes with kerosene lanterns? How are the cabbies making out – charging more than their competitors for an inferior product?

It is time, actually well past time that we reevaluate Canada Post. It started with a model that made sense at one time then evolved from there with little regard for changing times and needs. We need to go back and start from scratch forgetting the past and determining if there is a need today, and if so, what is it? Then assuming there is a need, how do we best meet it. The best solution may be something very different from what we currently have.

Hell, anyone with a brain saw this coming 30 years ago. But the greedy and lazy sucked it up. No boo hooz from me!

Honestly, the postal union has been waging war and holding the public hostage for years… and governments are too spineless to stand up to them. Looks like the only option is for the general public to do something.. what I don’t know, but something, anything… noted also, postal union has funds to spend millions on BDS and other anti-Semitic activities.

In someways it is good the postal service will go on strike. Peoples bills won’t come in on time and they will have a small excuse to be behind in Alberta. That least they will be able to eat for one more month.

Leave it to Canada Post to somehow figure out a way to make themselves even less appealing to consumers, even more obsolete.

It was my mistake trusting Canada Post with my firearm order and it is a mistake I will not repeat by patronizing them again. Best to pay a little extra for a private courier and ACTUALLY GET YOUR STUFF ON TIME.
