PETA wades into pronoun minefield with “species-ism” lecture

David MenziesMission Specialist

We’re told we need to be careful with pronouns, but because it’s 2017 and the animal rights movement has taken a sharp left turn, it seems we also have to mind our pronouns when referring to animals.

Of all the “isms”, one that’s gaining traction lately is "speciesism" — the exploitation of animals due to human egocentrism, the idea that humans are intrinsically superior to animals.

In a lecture at Binghamton University on speciesism given by PETA’s Hanh Nguyen, she cites as an example of this oppression the way people refer to animals using the pronoun “it” as opposed to “he” or “she.”

While PETA obsesses over which pronouns we need to use when addressing Fido and Fluffy, I wonder what’s next in the animal rights movement as it continues its descent into the depths of insanity?

Maybe "species-appropriation"?

The selective outrage,
Couple years ago at the superstore lineup (2nd in line) overheard the way overweight young female cashier yelping to her coworker she was switching out with that she had to go to an anti rodeo rally to protest cruelty to animals. Yet she was working for a boss selling halal meat. Unfortunately I was not number 1 in the lineup to give that blob an ear full before she disappeared. Stupidity knows no bounds

PETA is just another self loathing faction of the nihilist neo Marxists.

How about a new PETA: People for the Ethical Treatment of All. Start with the hungry and persectued children and homeless of the world BEFORE the animals…

For me to ever take Peta seriously, “We’d have to be talking about one charming muthafking pig”. Pulp Fiction classic line.

I named my dog Stay so I could say :"Come here,Stay , Come here, Stay ".
Comedian Steve Wright would be jailed by PETA for causing the poor dog severe anxiety wether it was a he or a she.
Even the train yard is under attack. A few of the boy trains are being retired to make way for girl trains to accompany Thomas. And Thomas is being fitted with a more environmentally friendly boiler . These people never give up. What’s next ? An androgenous PM ?

Canadian Mongrel, I agree and have posted similar comments whenever I see any articles related to PETA, I have written this organization to question this, and, no reply. Inhumane “Halal” ritual slaughter in abattoirs doesn’t make it on the list, n’or the mass slaughter following Ramadan and Eid.

They will however, hold demonstrations at a family farm following a tragedy.

Recently, a local farmer had 80 of his 98 dairy cows perish in a horrific barn fire. The fire spread quickly and prevented the farmer from entering the barn to save his herd. He and his family are very devastated by this massive loss of life, and, they genuinely cared deeply for their cows. PETA decided to hold a protest right after fire, very near the family farm, calling it a vigil.
Excerpt from the local newspaper, (note MacLeod is a MPP who knows this family well)

“MacLeod said she spoke with Ruiter on Saturday and indicated that she, along with councillors Harder and Steve DesRoches, were willing to help organize fundraising.

“Peter is a larger-than-life personality. He’s physically the tallest person I’ve ever met, and the heart inside him matches the size of his body. He’s such a good person.”

MacLeod was less kind to the handful of animal-rights activists who gathered outside Ruiter’s farm Saturday afternoon for a “vigil,” at which they waved signs reading “Honk to show your compassion for all animals” and “Not your mom, not your milk.”

“I couldn’t think of a more disgusting thing to do to a man who loves his cattle and watched in horror as they perished. I was angry about that. To me, that crossed the line.”

Ruiter, meanwhile, described the actions of the demonstrators as “incorrect.”

My seven month old puppy sat up, then came running over to me at the computer, all excited, when Ms. Goodall did her chimp impression!
I don’t know if that’s pro-speciesism, or anti-speciesism. I just wish those PETAphiles would go away, permanent like…

Has PETA demonstrated in front of a Halal abattoir yet? Or does PETA still consider it ethical to let a frightened animal bleed to death while some satanic prayer is muttered over it?
