What, exactly, does the “collapse of western civilization” mean? They’re usually disruptive, but not lethal, to the average joe on the street. Probably the best modern example of societal collapse was the breakdown of the Soviet Union, and before that, the breakdown o the British Empire. In general these phenomena represent an opportunity for “recalibration” rather than outright destruction. If some aspect of our system fails, it will be economic, a bigger version of 2008. Most likely this would be the US defaulting on their debt, more than triple Canada’s and growing five times faster.

What we now know as the “west” was itself a product of the collapse of Feudalism, an era of indentured servitude run through the Church. A run of increasing secularization and technological progress has lead to our current times. An argument could be made that the current situation is just a re-adjustment after the latest installment of the industrial revolution, those ’left behind" by technology have always had a rough time.

It’s odd how this video seems to veer surprisingly close to endorsing socialism at times, while trying desperately to avoid it

Mette Reed that is a huge part of the problem, but not entirely in the scope of religion, religious people have turned to self worship as well as Atheists. The icing on that cake is that they thin they can put themselves above Nature as well. It is quite sickening.

This is real and our most pressing issue.
Climate change, not so much.

You’re absolutely right, Paul. Western civilization is indeed on the verge of collapse, and, yes, it will be self-inflicted. I posted this once before, but your video reminds us once again of the impending destruction. Abraham Lincoln made that observation way back in 1838: “If destruction be our lot, we ourselves must be its author and finisher. As a nation of free men, we must live through all time or die by suicide". Is western civilization on the verge of suicide? I think it is. The average lifespan of past civilizations has historically been about 200 years. Is there any reason to believe that this post-modern age characterized by identity politics will last longer? I don’t see any reason to believe it will. Some civilizations have lasted longer…. like the Roman empire for instance. But regardless of how long a civilization lasts, they all go through the same steps during their rise and fall:
1. The age of Pioneers
2. The age of Conquest
3. The age of Commerce
4. The age of Affluence
5. The age of Intellect, and
6. The age of Decadence
I believe our present western civilization is now in the age of Decadence. There are seven social conditions that accompany the age of Decadence. They don’t necessarily manifest themselves simultaneously, nor are they necessarily immediately obvious to the casual observer, but these social conditions will always be manifest under the surface façade, guaranteeing the civilization’s fall. They are:
a) An undisciplined and over extended military
b) A conspicuous display of wealth
c) A widening gulf between the rich and the poor
d) An overdependence on the welfare state (i.e. the Government owes me a living)
e) An obsession with sex, and all issues sexual (sexual identity politics)
f) A rampant debasement of the currency (rapid inflation), and
g) Internal (as opposed to international) political hegemony. In other words, Politicians accruing to themselves as much wealth and power as they possibly can at the expense of the populace, while deflecting public scrutiny by creating fake non-existent crises, buying off the media and pacifying the populace with sports and other forms of entertainment.
Is that where we are now? It sure seems like it to me. We live in a world where up is down, and down is up, where good is evil and evil is good, where over 36,000 attacks and casualties of well over half a million since 9/11 are the mark of “The Religion of Peace”. As a Christian, I believe that this is the sign of the imminent return of Jesus, but for those who don’t believe that, I see the only alternative as the complete collapse of western civilization. I hate to be so pessimistic, but that’s how it looks from where I’m standing.

Or rather to be more accurate, too few want to hear it.

Of course there is a solution, but no one wants to hear it.

“Statesmen, my dear Sir, may plan and speculate for Liberty, but it is Religion and Morality alone, which can establish the Principles upon which Freedom can securely stand. The only foundation of a free Constitution is pure Virtue, and if this cannot be inspired into our People in a greater Measure than they have it now, They may change their Rulers and the forms of Government, but they will not obtain a lasting Liberty. They will only exchange Tyrants and Tyrannies.”
John Adams, Letter to Zabdiel Adams (21 June 1776)

In his book, “The Decline of the West”, German historian and philosopher Oswald Spengler claimed that over the coming decades in our current time, he expected the intellect of our civilization to fade, people to stop reading and thinking as the civilization as a whole loses interest in thought, and the government to become autocratic/tyrannical. Art will further devolve into meaningless subjects of fashion.
But probably most interesting he says, “the population comprising the civilization will continue dying off as it loses touch with the myths, religion and culture it was founded upon.”
Since the 1960’s our civilization has been declining because it has lost touch with the foundation of the Judeo-Christian basis of Western Civilization.

As for the church, the vast majority of churches stopped doing what the churches are supposed to do; teaching the words of the Bible which contain the story of Christ, to the public. They instead refused to answer questions of inquiry from members, they performed rituals and then they themselves became corrupt. The members became a bunch of pew potatoes and their congregations collapsed because churches taught social justice globalism and not the truth of the Gospel. And the people were wise not to attend. Christ warned the churches to repent long ago and do it His way or he would remove their candlestick from its place and He even stated some churches think they are alive when they are already dead. For ex., Revelation 3:1.
The Jesus of the Gospel accounts is not liked very much at all by the modern church or modern society because they associate ignorant arrogance with absolute truth claims. Jesus made more absolute truth claims then anyone in history. Jesus was a disturber and a malcontent that fought the establishment of His day. He was an enemy of the status quo. A man who made a whip of cords and drove the merchant class out of the temple. A man who called the religious leaders of His day hypocrites and opposed them in the bitterest of language, even telling them that each new convert they made was twice a child of Hell as they were. A man who told his disciples to arm themselves since He was going away (Luke 22:36). And when He wasn’t down in the dirt healing the lame, blind, deaf and lepers, He was in the temple debating with the intellectuals of His time about the innermost core of spiritual truth, for which He is the very heart; the living Truth. And as He said, He is the only way to God and no one can do anything without Him.

The church needs to get back to teaching the Word of God and Christian members need to act like Christ if they believe in Him. Then our civilization will change.

Where is the Church? The Church is in the same sorry situation…Apostasy! ( great falling away)
AntiChrist (son of perdition). Our gathering together unto him or caught up together (the rapture of true believers) We are living in the last hour of history.

2 Thessalonians 2:1-3 King James Version (KJV)

1 Now we beseech you, brethren, by the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, and by our gathering together unto him, (rapture/caught up/the blessed hope)

2 That ye be not soon shaken in mind, or be troubled, neither by spirit, nor by word, nor by letter as from us, as that the day of Christ is at hand.

3 Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition;

1 Thessalonians 4:16-17 King James Version (KJV)

16 For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first:

17 Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.

That’s because the West walked away from God. And, now the West is facing judgement.
Europe is ready for the AntiChrist. Self is the last thing we need.
