Prime Minister Trudeau defended his new corporate tax grab in Newfoundland this week.
In an interview with a local CBC show, Trudeau explained:
"We're just reflecting on the fact that the tax system as it's set up gives too many benefits to wealthy people, and not enough to the people who really need the support.”
As one of his first acts in government Trudeau took away the Children’s Fitness Tax Credit, the Children’s Arts Tax Credit, and income splitting for middle class families.
Trudeau also told the interviewer that:
“A lot of those wealthy folks are really fighting to keep those benefits that they have, and they're making a lot of noise.”
Trudeau keeps saying “benefits,” but he never really clarifies what they are.
