After Toronto’s Black Lives Matter chapter got their way again in their Pride Parade demands, I got to thinking: If gay rights are so important to BLM, will they be crashing Toronto’s Caribbean Carnival Parade in August?
Many have noted Toronto’s Caribbean neighbourhood is one of the worst in the world when it comes to acceptance of gay rights.
Indeed, consider an opinion piece published in The Guardian from a few years ago entitled, “Why do so many Jamaicans hate gay people?” where columnist Keon West wrote:
“Jamaica has a bad reputation for anti-gay prejudice. This small island in the Caribbean has become notorious not only for its anti-gay laws, political rhetoric and murders, but also for its broad societal acceptance of severe sexual prejudice and openly hostile music.”
You’ll be deluged with content if you google, “Caribbean” and “homophobia.”
So, since BLM is seemingly all about championing gay rights these days, can we expect their members to stage a sit-in on Lakeshore Boulevard to disrupt Toronto’s Caribbean Carnival Parade?
Yeah, I won’t bet the ranch on that happening either.
Those BLM hooligans might be thugs, but they’re not stupid.
Like all bullies, they know which parade audiences will sheepishly tolerate their disruptive nonsense, and which ones will kick their collective asses to the curb.
