Pro-hijab children’s book sends disturbing messages to Muslim and non-Muslim girls

Barbara KayArchive

In my last Rebel video, I spoke about the hijab and the push to normalize it in our culture.

If adult women freely choose to wear the hijab, that’s concerning but essentially their business.

But I get angry when I read propaganda in the form of children’s literature that pushes the hijab on little girls, and I am learning that there are more and more books being written with exactly that objective.

I get especially annoyed when such a book is written by an alleged feminist with political influence.

Like this book: Tilt Your Head, Rosie the Red was written in 2015 by Rosemary McCarney, the former President and CEO of Plan Canada, who is now a Global Affairs representative to the United Nations.

WATCH and I’ll tell you the basic storyline, then explain why it set off my alarm bells.

McCarney doubtless thought she was doing her bit to help Muslim girls find acceptance in Canada. But she is not helping Muslim girls who wish they did not have to wear the hijab, is she?

No, the people she is really helping are virtue-signalling multiculturalist parents and teachers to feel that special glow of righteousness for buying this book and reading it to their children and students.

Have a look at this. Where will this all end and will we ever be Canadians again after our government forces us to become Muslims. Trump looks better every day. At least he has some guts.

This is very logical thinking and also shows that respect of the countries culture is to be respected by new comers.

Interesting that in Peel region schools non-Muslim girls are getting teased for NOT wearing one. Where is the book to defend the position of children who do not cover up? Also, can you imagine your young child coming home from school and telling you that there is no point in you praying because God only loves Muslims. Yes., happening at Peel region schools. I remember in grade 2 when my daughter came home and told me a boy was threatening to beat her and said that someday she will be his slave. I didn’t even know what a Muslim was, then.

The Hijab is not a canadian tradition at all. I don,t want the schools to be infested with Islam at all here. this is Canada North America. Yes there are some girls that do wear the Hijab for whaterver reason still baffles me. And then there are those who don,t wear it at all.
I don,t want to see theis country turning to Islam at all. I won,t stand for it andI will take sever action if I do see that happen.I do remember that Dalton McGuinty Liberal premier wanted to some how bring in Sharia Law to Ontario. It never happenedwhich is a good thing, and he is gone and thats good because I didin,t like him or his stupid policy at all.
I don,t want t o see the hijab being forced on girls here. THis is Canada as I have said.I have a grandaughter in the school system and I will protect her and others from this Islamic take over slowly creeping in.

That was my comments to Breakfast Television on Wed, Feb 1, 2017
" To Mr. Kevin Frankish and the team covering The World Hijab Day.
As a Canadian viewer to your Breakfast Television, I was a little bit surprised by your presentation today to PROMOTE for the Hijab as if it is a Canadian value, yes we accept it as community living along together and we should respect and tolerate for other thoughts and beliefs.
I was expecting you as a famous figure to dig and understand the meaning of the Hijab and to know that it is a religious symbol and not a piece of FABRIC as said in your presentation, and here on Canadian soil, you would recall that three young Muslim ladies were killed for not wearing the Hijab and the worst was that they were killed by their families, so it is not a piece of fabric as you are trying to sell to the public who are either ignorant or they do not care for the subject.
I would like to ask you to promote in your morning show the same for a World Sikh Turban day or a World Cross day, meantime try to ask any Muslim to wear any of the previous religious symbols and try to be fare in passing to the public their responds rather than promoting something you and your team do not know about.
A trusted media should not take sides as we see in the media covering all international subjects, free media means free to all and not free to some and not the other."
Seeing that above video is more alarming, since books are now written by someone of the level of the writer, raises a big question mark, who is financing that and for what purpose these books are produced and distributed to youngsters , in the same time using influential media as Breakfast Television to spread it to the public who most of, knows nothing about it.

I don’t even care anymore whether Muslim women wear head, face and body coverings of their own free will or not. They wear them.
I blame the left wing liberals, champagne socialists and sjw’s for having ‘wear hijab days’, to support Muslim women nonsense, or write children’s books about it.
Not all Muslim women want to wear them, and come to Canada so they can leave what they consider to be oppression, behind them. We should be supporting Muslims who want to assimilate, not making excuses for those who don’t.
‘Muslim assimilation’ is sort of an oxymoron I know, as their ‘religion’ tells them quite explicitly NOT to assimilate.
To me it is a refusal to westernize. If they don’t want to westernize why do they come here. (A rhetorical question).
Why should I adjust to them when it is they who should adjust to Canada. The hijab is one thing, but any face covering or body bag is down right offensive in my opinion. It is nothing but a middle finger to our country.
Noisy, demanding, aggressive, supremacist theocracy. The louder and more obnoxious it becomes the less I want to accept Islam at all. I have never seen such a pushy overbearing excuse for a religion.
Every other religion but Islam fits in.

Iraj, other religions don’t attempt to dominate and infiltrate the way Islam does. Inch by inch, then mile by mile. Islam seems to be making a concerted effort to not fit in so who should be surprised we look at that obvious lack with some disdain.
M 103 didn’t help. A big fk U to Canada and OUR freedoms. Good job Iqra Khalid.

In the late 80s/early 90s we removed Bible reading and the Lord’s Prayer from our schools. So how is the inclusion of Islamic ideology to our schools fair now? Absurd!

Someday the children will be older and will be reading memoirs by young women Muslim doctors who know what it is like to live in the male dominated, extremist Islamic world.
Dr. Qanta A. Ahmed, in her memoir titled, “In the Land of Invisible Women: A Female Doctor’s Journey in the Saudi Kingdom” explains vividly what it would be like for a little girl to be wearing a veil/hijab. Dr Ahmad writes: “Even with a deep understanding of Islam, I could not imagine mummification is what an enlightened, merciful God would have ever wished for half of all His creation. These shrouded, gagged silences rise into a shrieking register of muted laments for stillborn freedoms. Such enforced incarceration of womanhood is a firm of female infanticide.
Throughout the Kingdom, short, tiny prepubertal girls could be seen tripping iver their abbayahas, well before Islam asks for female modedty to be protected. While these veils conceal women, at the same time they expose the rampant, male oppression which is their jailor. Polyestor imprisonment by compulsion is ungodly and (like the fiber) distinctly man-made”.

Another right on report from Barbara Kay.
These head coverings are nothing more than chains of control placed on women by Muslim men. They are frozen in fear that the women have more intelligence and are capable of so much more than they, so the only way they can issue control is through fear with the threat of violence in the form of rape. If a woman in Islam is raped it is her fault and then the men with glee in their hearts can stone the woman to death. The men demonstrate a deep seated fear and hatred toward women, hard for me to figure out. Where exactly do these men think they came from? They are really going to feel foolish when they learn that it is the lowly woman that carries them for nine months and then gives birth to them. The head coverings are garbage bags placed over a woman, because that’s what Muslim men think women are, garbage. And any western women that opt to support this trend are just misguided idiots. I can see a woman spending sixty dollars or more for a haircut, getting an expensive perm or color job with their new hairstyle, and then, lets show how we have freedom of choice and cover it all up with a head blanky or over sized snot rag. Yeah we’ll all look so much more stylish, free and independent and the real benefit is, we won’t get raped by a Muslim man. Women have been fighting courageously for equal rights for a long time and have come a long way, now it is starting to look like a lot of them want to turn the clock back and return to the dark ages. Well at least they can’t blame western men for this one, we still worship women in our culture, we put women on pedestals, we love and respect our mothers, women make us feel good about ourselves as men, we try to please our women, we treat women in our culture better than we treat other men, for some of us men, we literally live for our women, our lives revolve around them. Women are like an energy cell, they give life, generate excitement and fun in our lives and do most of the work in a relationship. They are irreplaceable, and as I have said many, many times to my woman over the years, “Nothing Stands Above You.” So if Islam doesn’t like girls, it’s time for Islam to get out of town, NOW.

When you get cancer & go through chemo, your hair falls off in chunks after the 1st treatment & sooner than you think, all your hair has fallen off. Having a hairless shiny head is almost fashionable these days for a man, but not so much for a woman. You could go out in public that way, but it’s a little intimidating & so you wear a headscarf, ec which is not so attention getting. What I’m trying to say is in such a case, you almost have no choice, but if you have a full head of hair, in some cases, natural curls, why would anyone make you hide that, you don’t realize how lucky you are to have hair until you lose it all.

I don’t get it. The plan is supposed to be to work with “moderates” to keep extremism at bay and out of our communities. Instead, we are normalizing extremist values and marginalizing moderates by importing extremist influence and backing Sharia values and blasphemy laws. I’ve heard Muslims that have been part of Canadian society for years say that in recent years they feel a lot more pressure from their communities to behave like “proper Muslims” (e.g. cover up, isolate themselves from us, be less secular). It’s one thing to welcome people, and its another to purposely sabotage and alter our own society, casting aside our western values and replacing them with extremist ones that belong to a small percentage of people. It isn’t the aspect of religious practice that really concerns me. What I see for our soon to be future are terrorists and criminals (e.g. vandals, rapists, human and drug traffickers) who will be protected by entire communities. People in these enclaves will feel too intimidated to rat anyone out and will want to be accepted by their community, not be seen as traitors. Reasonable people will be brought into the extremist fold and will not dare to betray their own. Anyone leaving will be ostracized and (possibly) fearing for their own safety. Just like Palestine, their community leaders will sell the need to have a jihad “war” with us, for whatever reason. They will honour martyrs and celebrate when non-believers are maimed & murdered. If we do anything back to them in retaliation or to enforce the law, their narrative will be that we are evil, hostile, bigoted people out to harm them. They will play the victim card, as they do now. They will even fabricate stories to play on people’s sympathy to advance their own agenda (as they do now.) I used to think that Israel’s situation was entirely different, but once these enclaves form, it will pretty much be like living beside Gaza and the West Bank, even in Canada.  The western world will suffer intifadas just because we are western and exist in close proximity to these ghettos (though they will have excuses (e.g. offensive books, films, videos, local traditions, Canada’s involvement in wars, not enough privilege!). Our efforts to coexist will be in vain. Especially when we do eventually try to control the security of our own country. This further victimology will nourish their growing hate of us and support their “at war with us” narrative. The extremists’ ultimate plan is to eject us and take over (just like they want to do in Israel and have already done in several African and Middle Eastern countries). Muslim brotherhood has actually published plan books on how to invade the west. This will be allowed to happen because we would rather deny moderates the freedoms they came to Canada for in favor of kowtowing and indulging fundamentalists who happen to hate secularism, western values and non-believers. Fundamentalists have certainly been very consistent in their strategy and transparent about their agenda. I cannot believe the majority of Canadians have not yet clued in to how this will all unfold or seen any of the telltale signs!

Dear Irate Iraj: If you were born into the Ku Klux Klan, and you had a conscience, you’d leave it, knowing what it stands for, right? Ditto for islam! Any “muslim” who remains in the global islamic crime-gang, remains by definition a criminal, whether or not you were born into it.

While not all criminals are muslims, ALL muslims ARE criminals.

ALL muslims are criminals, simply by being members of the world’s largest and most ancient yet ongoing crime-gang. Being a member of a crime-gang is a crime, even if the member hasn’t committed any specific crime beyond that of their general membership, because they represent the inherent public threat the crime-gang presents. It’s the Law. Everything muslims pretend to believe is “holy” is already a crime!

All group rights must come with group responsibilities.

When you describe yourself as a criminal gangster who asserts it’s his holy right and duty to extort, enslave, and murder all the non-members of your gang, you get judged for that threat, because death-threats are already crimes.

And that sums up islam.

People should just read the Qur’an: It orders ALL MUSLIMS to extort, enslave, and murder you for your “crime” of not-being a muslim.

To repeat: Anyone who admits they’re a member of a gang whose sworn, official purpose for existing is to extort, enslave, and murder you – embodies and embraces a permanent death-threat. And offensive death-threats are CRIMES.

Even if the threat fails to convince, it’s still at least a form of ATTEMPTED extortion, and all attempted crimes are still crimes, no?

The Hijab, (or Niqab, or burka) is not a religious duty or fashion trend, it’s only a prison uniform!

It’s also required by sura 24:31.

It’s also a victim-blaming insult to both sexes; from Qur’an Sura 33:59, it is a slanderous statement that implies the muslim men (and all men, just like Muhammad himself allegedly was) are so at the mercy of their hormones, that they must molest and rape any and all women they can see; so it’s always the women’s own fault for not covering up.

It also says the muslim men have a duty to molest and rape all the infidel women for not covering up!

“O Prophet! Tell your wives and daughters and the believing women to draw their cloaks over their bodies. That will be better so that they will be known so as not to be molested. And Allâh is Most Forgiving, Most Merciful.” (Qur’ân 33:59)

So, exactly HOW will they “be known,” in the freedom sack?!

Certainly not as in: “Oh, I know her! Hi, Mary!” – but “known” as muslimas – as members of the gang!

And why is this important? “So as not to be molested!”

Which again implies that muslims DID and always WILL “molest” (i.e: rape,) all the NON-muslim (“infidel”) women!

That it’s the infidel women’s faults, because they don’t cover up, that the muslim men “must” molest (rape) them!

And the Qur’an itself confirms their holy right and duty to rape infidel women.

Muhammad also said women are created by allah as domesticated animals, created for men’s pleasure, and like fields to be tilled at will by men.

So islam is also the “Religion of Rape!”

@ATOKENCONSERVATIVE I wasn’t going to dignify your lengthy tirade of ignorance, lack of comprehension skills, bigotry, and straw men, with a response. Contrary to your diatribe, not all Muslims are alike. Not all live in the same country under the same rulers. Not all belong to the same sect with the same beliefs. You whine that poor Muslim women are oppressed and deserve equal treatment, then you treat us worse than our so-called oppressors with your patronizing and bigoted attitude towards us, treating us as stereotypes. We are not slaves, nor are we sheep. We are capable of rational and individual thoughts and ideas. We can make our own decisions. I don’t need anyone to “free” me. I did mention these facts in my original post, but it’s one of the things your lack of comprehension missed. So no, you don’t get a free pass to claim that I’m “lying” just because your ignorant, secondhand impression of extremist Islam disagrees with my reality as a moderate Muslim who lives Islam every day.

You stated that nobody accused the little girl in the story (or anyone else) of being evil. Really? Here you are ranting and raving nonsense against “evil” Muslims including myself, while claiming that Barbara Kay didn’t accuse anyone of evil (or evil intent) either. Without that insinuation of evil to draw readers in, this article would never have been published in the first place.

Perhaps you’d like to explain the headline of this article, about “disturbing intentions”. Words which were also used by Ms Kay in her diatribe about all of the horrible things that will come to pass if a little non-Muslim girl drapes her head in a headscarf. She did everything but directly accuse the little Muslim girl of trying to forcibly convert the other children. Pretty sad, when you’re talking about a child of less than 10 years old. And perhaps you can clarify for us, Ezra Levant’s words about this article which people including myself received in an email from The Rebel:

“What do you think? Do you think Canadian girls should be taught to wear hijabs?

Or should Muslim girls be taught to be free?"

What I think, is that these words prove what I said in my original comment about Levant and outlets like The Rebel deliberately inciting hatred towards Muslims. Based on most of the posts here, they’re doing a bang-up job. First of all, nobody was “teaching” anyone to wear anything. Kids were trying scarves on. Happens every day. And funny how you won’t see The Rebel publishing an article about “freeing” Sikhs from their turbans, or “freeing” Jews from their kippahs. But then again, they are men. Men who get credit for the ability to decide on their own, what they wear on their heads and which religion to follow. Muslim women? Oh, we need to be “freed” by arrogant male outsiders who know better than us what’s best for us! We’re too stupid and weak to decide for ourselves.

“Free?” Free to view some people, religions and cultures as more valuable or worthy than others, as people like you are doing? By portraying ALL Muslims (even little girls) as evil and needing to be “freed” from who and what they are, and by brainwashing people like you to believe that extremism is the sole form of Islam that exists, The Rebel and other media are just as guilty of “fake news” and inciting hate as those liberals they love to whine incessantly about.

First of all, thank you Barbara Kay for the video.

I have a story to share. Yesterday at work a woman wearing a hijab came to give a woman (her work station is in the same isle as mine) a gift. She passed beside me on her way to her work station and I said to her “you didn’t bring me a gift.” I was joking.

She replied “I’ll bring you flowers when you start wearing the hijab”. Another woman that wears the hijab was laughing.

She had brought the flowers for another muslim woman who had just returned to work after being away for 6 months. This woman has worked with me for 7 years as well and had never worn the hijab until she returned to work after 6 months off.

I have worked with this woman for 7 years. Never before has anything like that been said to me by her.

If it would have been me saying to her “I’ll bring you flowers when you stop wearing the hijab”, I would have been in my boss’s office in a flash. At best, I would have been reprimanded or maybe fired.

Can we stop pussyfooting around with this nonsense?? There are as many “moderate” Muslims as there were “moderate” Nazis. Both are maniacal cults based on hatred and in Islam, the worship of a pedophile, head chopping idiot. Anything and everything anyone needs to know about the death cult can be learned on 9/11 or in the attacks in Europe, trucks mowing down children in Paris and in the Christmas market in Berlin.
We seem to be getting used to these terrorist attacks occurring daily all over the world instead of getting angrier. And now we have bill 103 being pushed through the House. How soon before I won’t be allowed to say anything about Islam without the gov coming after me??!!
Anyone wanting to wear a head scarf, a niqab, a burka or demand Halal food or separate swimming times and praying rooms is welcome to do so – in Pakistan or Saudi or any of the other hellholes who seem to fall for this crap. But not herein Canada, not now and not ever.

Back in my younger days many women wore headscarves as protection for their hair do’s or against the weather - so it was common to see women with heads covered – many years ago all ladies attending church usually wore a hat or veil - it seemed the thing to do – but this pushing of the hijab – is a foolish action by parents and all in some authority because in my opinion the hijab has absolutely no meaning other than the males want it worn so other men to not ogle their females. have asked a Muslim is there a significance and he could not answer except to avoid males see the beauty in her hair. Since when did a good head of hair become a sex symbol?? So pushing the hijab on youngsters is utter nonsense and nothing to do with any faith – just the misguided belief of some that it is important.

I have tried on a sari…it is beautiful and some women wear them if they choose. In fact, I have a sari of my own, never worn over my head. It is my choice to do so…OR NOT. My husband has no say in whether or not I wear it nor does anyone else. I don’t need to cover myself because the men in our culture are so out of control that I fear for my sexual safety. I can safely wear a bathing suit. However, I have heard from a Muslim man that Muslim men rape women in full BURHAS in Muslim countries and walk the streets lusting like crazed moose…so I CAN’T blame them for hiding their bodies from such out of control men. Male Sikh’s choose to wear a turban and it is a sign of their superiority…not a sign of oppression. Sari’s and Turbans are signs that they have POWER to CHOOSE to wear what they wear, and the garment is never considered essential…Our Sikh friend never wears a turban, only the silver bracelet…and he is not ostracized. He isn’t forced to wear the turban and his face is clear to be seen. So I do believe some choose to hide behind the veils because for some reason Muslim men have gained a reputation for being out of control sexually and dangerously so…per a report that after a massive influx of Muslim refugees, “Sweden now has the second highest number of rapes in the world, after South Africa, which at 53.2 per 100,000 is six times higher than the United States”.

Wearing these garments, not only do not protect from sexual assault, they are unhealthy and an Indian doctor reported to me that women who wear burkas have often got TB and cannot shake it because the air they breath is constantly hot, humid and damp. It is time for women to be free to live and wear garments that keep them healthy, and that protect them from the weather, just as men do. But it is a lie to believe that a garment can protect a woman from violent and oppressive men of any culture. It just ain’t so!
