PODCAST: Progressive bans, progressive hiring

Brian LilleyArchive

Montreal just banned the plastic bag, now they want to ban the water bottle.

Why don't bad ideas stay where they come from instead of spreading? Listen as Brian deconstructs this latest in progressive lunacy and looks at another crazy progressive idea - forcing Canadians to elect an equal number of men and women to Parliament.

There sure aren’t any bright spots in the Trudeau governments with their equity dogma. Apparently in the Liberal world what’s between your legs or not or the color of your skin qualifies you above experience or education.( Brightest or best) It’s no wonder our economy is dropping like a stone. Hollywood elitism or personality doesn’t promote sound decisions as we see with MR. Selfie. What happened to dutch decease and our manufacturing sector. Wait carbon pricing compounded with fake refugees, and high taxes eliminates any opportunity for a prosperous economy. The Sunny ways just doesn’t equal prosperity. Gloomy days ahead as Trudeau’s real agenda rolls out.

Nathan W did you mean tobacco? The plant progressives are attacking like hypocrites?

Nathan W please name me one person in jail for simple possession? And MJ has many negative effects. Now go throw someone in jail for publishing a cartoon or for owning a gun like a good hypocrite. And the left has not changed any MJ laws that i have seen. So they are doing it as well.

Andrew Mirlach 4 hr ago "Forcing Canadians to elect an equal # of men and women in the Senate and Parliament " Yes its true; I saw two 60 plus women being interviewed by CTV or CBC insisting that they be hired for the Senate even though they have no skills. They were housewives and when the kids left , I guess they were called homemakers. (that means they did nothing while the husband worked. ) They were honest as they admitted they only had two things to offer; common sense and they were women. Probably that’s enough, for the Canadian Senate doesn’t allow honesty .

Nathan, “what’s so offensive about….” Surely a person’s sex, race, height, handedness are among the least important qualities of a politician especialy since they are all an accident of birth. I would say brains, political ideology and integrity are orders of magnitude more important.

But to answer your question. It is offensive because it takes choice away from me. “Vote as you please but please vote.” loses its meaning when I’m told I must vote for a female (or male!) Suppose I refuse and write in a choice of another gender? To top it off, NO, I do not think women deserve representation; I think people deserve representation! There are plenty of women out there capable of representing me and plenty of men capable of representing my wife.

At least they aren’t banning plants with medicinal value and throwing people in prison for it. There are many alternatives to plastic bags.

And anyways, what’s so offensive about structurally ensuring that men and women enjoy equal representation at the highest levels of political office in the country? Don’t you think women deserve representation?

Steve – Good to know there are some sensible people on this site.

Who cares, our only job is to get Alberta out of this lunatic country before they take us down with them. Nothing else matters.

I was living in Montreal in the 60s, Montreal was used to test the use of plastic bags they wanted to see if using the plastic bags was more hygienic than the steel garbage cans then in use. The idea was to clean up the mess as garbage cans would be easily over turned and the garbage was spread on the street by dogs cats and other vermin including kids. The result plastic bags spread throughout the world cutting down on the noise of rattling cans. Gone are the days of the “rattle of the cans and ringing of the bells on the street cars” (comes from the song Lula bye of Broadway) Now the left wants to bring it back. The Coons and Coyote that infest our cities will have a ball. Lets bring back the steam engines and horses just want the kids need to play street hockey with house’s frozen dung and we could start using wood to heat our homes.

What? I suppose Coderre wants people to drink out of the St. Lawrence R?? ..after dumping all that raw sewage?

Ft. MacMurray, Alberta has had a plastic bag ban for ages now – have to either use those clothe bags or paper bags
