According to the Canadian government, climate change is making people mentally ill.
According to Blacklock's, a Public Health Agency of Canada report claimed climate change would cause “elevated levels of anxiety, depression and post-traumatic stress disorders.”
The report was called "Climate Change Impacts On The Health Of Canadians."
And it was crazy:
Climate change affects mental health due to changes in the prevalence and severity of natural disasters on human settlements. These events can cause anxiety-related responses and later potentially lead to chronic and severe mental disorders...
Indigenous Northerners may be distressed by melting Arctic permafrost, while urban Canadians are threatened by sudden weather events...
Elevated levels of anxiety, depression and post-traumatic stress disorders have been reported in populations who have experienced flooding, and during slow-developing events such as prolonged droughts. Impacts include chronic distress and increased incidence of suicide.
Suicide because of climate change? Does anybody really believe this garbage?
Many First Nations and Aboriginal communities do not have access to clean drinking water. We have an opioid addiction crisis happening across this country, affecting every demographic in an increasingly deadly way.
If the Public Health Agency of Canada needs something to do with its time (and the money we give them) they can start there.
